Chapter 992 The Old Pastor

Caroline, also known as Margaret, was not surprised that the old priest beside her could recognize her true identity at a glance. She said calmly, "If you remember correctly, the last time we met, I was only eleven years old and I was in the church's monastery."

"You know what? Back then, I knew you, Margaret, would become an outstanding intelligence agent. If you hadn't been too young and didn't meet the church's requirements, I would have had you undergo training with the Black Organization at that time!"

"When you grew a little older, and I went to the monastery to find you again, you were already serving Cardinal Elena. Time flies so fast; more than twenty years have passed in the blink of an eye. That little girl from back then has become a full-fledged witch in the church, and Cardinal Elena's most important companion." The old priest turned to Margaret and said with some emotion:

"Then it seems I should properly thank the church for its rules!" Although she had confirmed the other person's true identity from their words, Margaret remained calm and composed, saying neither servile nor arrogant:

Upon hearing Margaret's statement, the old pastor shook his head and continued, "There is no shortage of beautiful women in this world, but Margaret, you are special among these beautiful women. In addition to your beautiful appearance, you are also very intelligent and can discern the other person's intentions from their words."

"You really think too highly of me. If I were as smart as you imagine, you wouldn't be here to see me now!" Margaret sighed slightly, looking somewhat regretful.

Seeing that Margaret was still beating around the bush, the old pastor looked at her with a hint of disappointment. After a few seconds, he asked Margaret, "Can you tell me, are you serving the Church of Storms or Cardinal Elena?"

Although the old pastor's voice was very calm, the question struck Margaret like a bolt from the blue...

After pondering for a few seconds, Margaret didn't give a direct answer. Instead, she asked, "Lord Christant, although you are the intelligence director of the Black Organization, hold a high position in the Church, and are Cardinal Hummels' right-hand man, it's not right to slander a cardinal like this and tear her apart from the Church. If His Holiness the Pope finds out, he'll surely be punished."

"Margaret, you grew up in the church, so many of its secrets are no secret to you. You should know my temperament; I don't like beating around the bush. It's just the two of us here. What's wrong with telling me the answer you've come to?" The old pastor, disguised as Christant, said in a low voice.

"Lord Christant, the only thing I can tell you is that I am a priest of the Church of Storms, under the command of Cardinal Elena!" Seeing that Christant was setting a trap for her, Margaret sneered and said flawlessly:

Upon hearing Margaret's answer, Christant offered no further comment, continuing, "Margaret, I don't know what Cardinal Elena's purpose was in sending you to Frosinone, but you should understand the importance of this matter to the Church. I advise you not to attempt to interfere or influence this matter in any way, otherwise even Cardinal Elena herself won't be able to protect you!"

After finishing his speech, Christant didn't care about Margaret's reaction. He slowly stood up and walked out of the classroom. Watching his departing figure, a deep sense of apprehension appeared in Margaret's eyes.

"Connor, what are you planning to do next?" In the Ferguson mansion, after a passionate and intense lovemaking session, as Connor and Varga were cuddling in bed, Varga whispered to Connor:

Hearing Varga's question, Connor was reminded of his troubles again, and sighed softly, saying, "I've agreed to cooperate with the Church of Storms. I'll meet with Christant in a few days to discuss some details. I originally planned to go to the Navas Forest next to see if I could make any discoveries, and then decide whether to cooperate with the Church of Storms. But it seems that the Church of Storms is very determined about this matter and doesn't intend to give me much time to consider..."

"What can I do to help you?" Leaning against Connor's firm chest, Varga asked him earnestly.

Hearing Varga's words, Connor's heart skipped a beat. He looked at Varga, seemingly wanting to say something but then hesitated. However, as if he had some reservations, he ultimately gave up the idea and simply smiled at Varga, saying, "I'll take care of things outside. Varga, I'll be happy as long as you protect the Ferguson family for me!"

"However, if things really get out of control, Varga, remember not to let the Ferguson family hold you back. If you feel it's time to run away, don't hesitate. Follow the secret passage I told you to leave the mansion!" Connor's expression turned very serious as he warned Varga at the end.

Varga seemed unmoved by Connor's warning. She glanced at Connor and then calmly said, "What you want me to do, it's not related to that woman Margaret, is it?"

Hearing Varga directly address his innermost thoughts, Connor was momentarily stunned, but he quickly recovered and concealed his surprise. Unfortunately, Varga had already noticed Connor's change in expression. Just as Connor was about to say something, but before he could even open his mouth, Varga placed her delicate white finger on Connor's lips and said earnestly, "Connor, I'm willing to do anything for you!"

Feeling Varga's sincere affection for him, Connor, who had a heart of stone, felt a warm current flow through his heart and kissed Varga again.

A dozen seconds later, Connor whispered in Varga's ear, "Varga, you know Margaret, she's a priestess of the Storm Church. She has very deep connections within the Storm Church and can provide her with this information. For me to cooperate with the Storm Church is tantamount to asking a tiger for its skin..."
