Wizard Earl

Chapter 946 Domenech's Goal

Although Jack Ferguson adopted a threatening stance, Eugenia, who knew him well, showed no fear. On the contrary, she understood that this was the beginning of Jack Ferguson's compromise. She composed herself and then asked Jack Ferguson, "Jack, do you know why Domenech wanted to kill Martinez?"

Hearing Eugenia's question, Jack Ferguson was slightly taken aback. Although he had thought a lot about the position of family head, he hadn't really considered what Domenech's purpose was...

Within the Ferguson family, Domenech had always been a political ally of Bernardo, a businessman, sharing both advancement and retreat. Bernardo's demands were simple: financial gain. He would support whoever offered him the most benefits. Therefore, Jack Ferguson had never given it much thought, assuming that Domenech, like Bernardo, sought only financial gain. However, after hearing Eugenia's words, things seemed to be more complicated than they appeared...

Domenech, a former soldier, was always seen in military uniform within the Ferguson family. He was serious, proud, and somewhat arrogant, and had a fairly good reputation within the family. For many years, Domenech lived alone without a wife or children, making him an outlier in the aristocratic circle. While his personal life was not exactly simple, it was not luxurious either, unlike his ally Bernardo, who had high standards for material possessions.

After carefully considering his memories of Domenech, Jack Ferguson still came up empty-handed. However, when he saw the confident Eugenia and thought about how Domenech had cheated on him, he was immediately filled with anger and couldn't help but sneer, "Eugenia, you're not trying to tell me that Domenech did this for you, are you?"

Eugenia's eyes flashed with annoyance at her husband's resentment, but for the sake of the bigger picture, she refrained from lashing out. Instead, she explained, "I don't have that much charm to make Domenech do so much for me. Two years ago, Domenech was diagnosed with a heart problem. It won't kill him in the short term, but he doesn't have much time left!"

"So over the years, Domenech has spent a lot of money on medical treatments and tried many different therapies, but there has been no improvement whatsoever. Three months ago, Domenech used many connections and spent a considerable amount of money to find a priest of the Earth God Church to treat him. The priest told him that ordinary treatments could not cure his illness, and the only way to be cured was either to become a wizard or to find a pharmacist among the wizards to treat him!"

"Bernardo previously revealed to Domenech that the Ferguson family's ancestors were wizards, and the secret documents in the family library might contain methods to become a wizard. And as you know, the Ferguson family's rules are that those secret documents are only accessible to the head of the family and the first in line to the throne!"

"Although Domenech is a family elder, he has no right to access them. Therefore, within the rules, he cannot see those secret documents. So, to obtain those secret documents, he must break the rules. And that old man Martinez is the defender of your Ferguson family rules. That's the fundamental reason why he supports you becoming the head of the Ferguson family and wants to get rid of Martinez!"

"Jack, you don't need to worry about Domenech at all. The last meeting of the family elders was just an exception. Martinez had something on you, and Bernardo is a fence-sitter. Seeing how powerful Martinez was, he immediately switched sides. So even if Domenech wanted to help you then, he was powerless!"

"Think about it, Jack! It doesn't matter to you if you lose and can't beat Butler Martinez. For the sake of your father and Alfredo, Butler Martinez won't do anything to you. At worst, you can still be a rich man and enjoy life to the fullest. But for Domenech, as long as Martinez is alive, he won't be able to get those secret documents of your family."

"Given his condition, he doesn't have much time left, so believe me, Domenech will fight even harder than you, Jack, to deal with Martinez! As for what happened between me and Domenech, it was just an accident!" Eugenia explained Domenech's motives to Jack Ferguson in detail, but when it came to her affair with Domenech, Eugenia glossed over it very lightly.

After listening quietly to Eugenia's account, Jack Ferguson began to believe Domenech to some extent. He didn't rush to answer her, but pondered for a moment before looking up at her and saying, "I can cooperate, but I have one condition: Domenech must die!"

Upon hearing the first part of Jack Ferguson's sentence, Eugenia's fair face broke into a radiant smile. However, after Jack Ferguson finished speaking, the smile froze on her face. A few seconds later, Eugenia frowned and carefully asked Jack Ferguson, "Jack, you should understand how important Domenech is in dealing with Martinez. Without the people he recruited, we simply couldn't have succeeded... Jack, you're a mature man. I don't think you'd hold any grudges about something like this, would you?"

To Eugenia's explanation, Jack Ferguson sneered, "Eugenia, don't worry, I certainly wouldn't take a woman like you seriously!"

"But the secret documents in the family library have always been inherited by our lineage. What is Domenech? How dare a bastard who doesn't even know if he's of Ferguson blood dare to peek at them? Even if the secret documents really contain a way to become a wizard, it belongs to me, Jack Ferguson, not to Domenech!"

Seeing how much Jack Ferguson valued the secret documents in the family library, Eugenia seemed somewhat surprised, frowning and unsure of what to say for a moment.

"Eugenia, you're a shrewd woman. You can't afford to be foolish now. You need to think this through. Things have clearly come to this point between us; there's no longer any affection between us. But at least I'm still Henry's father. What I get, he should naturally get a share. But Domenech has nothing to do with Henry. He got his hands on those secret documents from the family library. Do you think he'd share them with Henry?" Jack Ferguson said incisively.
