Wizard Earl

Chapter 944 Betrayal

"That's right! They entered Frosinone in batches, each one a skilled individual with clean records. Even if they did something, no one will find out!" Domenech continued with a cold laugh, revealing more information to Jack Ferguson in his words. However, his words did not reassure Jack Ferguson as he had expected; instead, they deepened the doubt in Jack Ferguson's eyes...

If Domenech is right, then his decision to send people into Frosinone first and then come to discuss things with him means that no matter what the outcome of the discussion, he intends to launch a rebellion against Martinez's steward. Otherwise, he shouldn't have let his men into Frosinone!

Logically, he should have approached Domenech first to discuss the matter, then the two of them would have reached an agreement based on their shared interests, and then they would have begun planning. Only then would Domenech have transferred his men to Frosinone to prepare for the operation. After all, although Domenech was mobilizing manpower and recruiting troops outside the family, if he wanted to succeed within the Ferguson family, he needed the support of himself, the second-in-command of the family, to gain legal legitimacy. Otherwise, even if he successfully killed Martinez, without legitimacy, he would soon be suppressed by the Imperial Armed Forces!

Domenech surely understood this, yet he still chose to send his men into Frosinone, only to be discovered by Martinez's butler. Was he certain that Domenech would agree to his demands, or did he have other plans even if he refused? Thinking of this, and recalling the seemingly abnormal yet very intimate relationship between his wife and Domenech, a shadow of unease appeared in Jack Ferguson's eyes…

At this moment, Domenech was oblivious to Jack Ferguson's change in mindset. He continued confidently, "The victory at the Senate meeting has made that old fox Martinez a bit complacent. That guy named Dzeko by his side has already left. In just two hours, my men will be able to take control of Ferguson's mansion!"

While Domenech himself seemed excited about his plan, Jack Ferguson, as the listener, remained remarkably indifferent. He calmly glanced at Domenech before speaking indifferently, "At this point, Domenech, you still haven't given me a reason why I should believe you?"

"A few days ago, you and that Bernardo were in the hotel room, patting your chests and assuring me that you would definitely support me to succeed as head of the family and become the new Earl of Ferguson at the family elders' meeting. I believed you, and now look what has happened!" As he said this, Jack Ferguson's expression became self-deprecating, while his gaze toward Domenech was filled with resentment!

Sensing the resentment in Jack Ferguson's words, Domenech let out a heavy, disgruntled snort, then pointed at Ferguson's nose and cursed, "How dare you bring this up? Look at yourself! You can't even clean up your own messes, so easily given ammunition. And you still want to be Earl Ferguson?"

"That old fox Martinez has already laid all his dirty laundry on your face, how can we help you? Jack Ferguson, you're a piece of trash, do you know that? Do you know how passive you've put us? I'm not even going to settle accounts with you, and you're bringing this up with me on your own initiative? Does someone like you deserve to be the new Earl Ferguson?" Domenech made no attempt to hide his sarcasm towards Jack Ferguson.

Upon hearing Domenech's insults, Jack Ferguson flew into a rage, clenching his fists and glaring fiercely at Domenech, though he didn't appear particularly menacing or angry.

However, Jack Ferguson dared not lay a hand on Domenech, nor even utter a word in retaliation. He knew very well that although Domenech was decades older, he was a seasoned and experienced Grand Knight, while he was merely a regular knight who hadn't fought in years. If the two were to actually fight, he wouldn't even be able to defeat Domenech, let alone withstand a single blow...

Seeing Jack Ferguson's cowardly appearance, wanting to fight but not daring to, Domenech couldn't help but smile contemptuously and cursed in a deep voice, "Trash! I don't know how your father, Wegswit, could have given birth to such a piece of trash!"

Just then, Eugenia, who was outside the study, heard Jack Ferguson and Domenech arguing and immediately returned to the study. When she saw the furious Jack Ferguson and the contemptuous smile on Domenech's face, she immediately realized that things had gone wrong. After a quick thought, she gently advised Domenech, "You should go back now!"

Domenech, with his strong character, initially wanted to refuse Eugenia's advice outright, but when he saw her pleading eyes, he ultimately didn't refuse. He turned and walked towards the study's exit, but perhaps because he was still somewhat unwilling to leave, he suddenly turned around when he reached the study door, strode over to Eugenia's side, and then, in front of Jack Ferguson, roughly touched Eugenia's body before putting his black robe back on and leaving.

Because Domenech was a Grand Knight, his movements were incredibly fast, taking only a few seconds. By the time the enraged Jack Ferguson reacted, walked to his desk, opened a drawer, took out a revolver, and rushed out of the study to fire two shots at Domenech, Domenech had already vanished into the pitch-black night. Unable to find his target, Jack Ferguson could only stare ferociously at the surrounding darkness, and fearing that making a sound would attract attention, he could only roar silently!

After venting his anger outside the study for a while, Jack Ferguson, his face flushed and carrying a revolver, returned to the study and sat down on the sofa without saying a word. Eugenia, who had just been touched by Domenech, also kept her head down and remained silent. This awkward atmosphere lasted for a few seconds before being broken by Jack Ferguson's actions.

Jack Ferguson pulled a clean white handkerchief from his desk drawer, and while wiping his revolver, asked his wife Eugenia in a low voice, "How long has it been?"
