Wizard Earl

Chapter 911 Helplessness

After learning where Philo was hiding, Connor exchanged information with Margaret for a while, and then the two parted ways at the Cagliari Café and returned to their respective residences.

Connor returned to the Fati Hotel on Quebec Avenue, one of the more upscale hotels in downtown Frosinone, where he and Margaret had been staying for the past few days.

As soon as Varga returned to her hotel room and finished her training, she noticed Connor's somewhat grave expression. She leaned close to him and reassured him tenderly, "Connor, you did all this for the family. I believe your people will understand!"

Connor, who was thinking about how to cause trouble for Philo, was a little surprised to hear Varga's comforting words. However, he quickly realized that his current solemn and gloomy appearance made Varga misunderstand that he was comforting him because he had killed Warrent Ferguson.

In fact, although Warren Ferguson was indeed Connor's uncle by blood, unfortunately, Connor had only met him for the first time in the cabin, despite having some recollection of him. There was no real affection between them. Furthermore, the reasons for executing Warren Ferguson were entirely justified; Warren Ferguson had killed Jon Ferguson, an elder of the family, and deserved to die both morally and legally.

So even though he killed his own uncle with his own hands, Connor felt no guilt whatsoever. In his eyes, Warren Ferguson was no different from the hundreds of innocent souls who had died at his hands, and was not worth his emotional investment.

Although Connor understood that Varga had misunderstood, he didn't intend to explain to her. After all, if Varga, the little jealous one, knew that he was troubled by Margaret's matter, she would probably get angry again and be unhappy for several days.

Since that's the case, why not just go with the flow? Connor forced a smile onto his somewhat serious face, lightly flicked Varga's pert nose, and said to Varga, "Don't worry, I'll handle it!"

Hearing Connor's answer, Varga hummed in response, but still leaned against him, keeping him company and feeling the warmth of her body. Even though it was a white lie, it still made Connor feel a little guilty towards Varga...

Despite feeling apologetic towards Varga, the matter concerning Margaret was of utmost urgency, as it concerned Margaret's health. Therefore, Connor quickly began to refine his plan to travel to Saspede to find Philo.

Although Connor had promised Margaret at the Cagliari café that he wouldn't act rashly alone and would take her with him to Saspede to find Firo, it was just talk!

Although Margaret's physical condition doesn't seem dangerous at the moment, it's foreseeable that if she gets into a fight, regardless of the outcome, her condition will definitely deteriorate rapidly. Therefore, for Margaret's safety, Connor definitely can't take her to Saspad. As for why Connor agreed to Margaret's request at the Cagliari café, it was purely to reassure Varga and prevent her from worrying!

Now that Connor knows why Margaret is so eager for the Blood Moon Codex, he still sticks to his original opinion and doesn't think Margaret's plan to make a deal with Philo is a good one!

Although he hadn't yet made contact with Firo, in Connor's eyes, Margaret's plan to obtain the Blood Moon Codex from Firo through a transaction was far less feasible than Connor's plan to kill Firo, use Soul Control on him, and then obtain the Blood Moon Codex.

Moreover, even if Philo were truly willing to make a deal and sell his Blood Moon Codex, according to the principle of equivalent exchange in the wizarding world, the price he would demand would inevitably be astronomical. Margaret has already consumed over 90% of her cultivation resources by breaking through to become a formal wizard, and she simply doesn't have the ability to pay Philo such an astronomical sum. Once the deal is reached, the final cost will undoubtedly be borne by Connor on Margaret's behalf!

If it really comes to the end, and Connor truly needs to take some responsibility for Margaret, as a man, Connor naturally won't run away. However, before that, Connor still wants to try and see if he can make a deal with Firo without any upfront costs. After all, just thinking about the price makes Connor feel the pinch...

After pondering for a while, Connor's plan gradually became more complete. Then, he mustered his courage and whispered to Varga beside him, "Varga, there's something I'd like to ask you for a favor!"

Upon hearing Connor's words, Varga, who was holding Connor's arm and leaning against him, seemed to realize something, and her expression changed slightly. Then she quickly moved closer to Connor's body, as if searching for something on him.

Seeing Varga's actions, Connor seemed to understand something. Although his expression didn't change, he felt a surge of tension. After meeting Margaret at the Cagliari café, Connor had carefully concealed his body and clothing to prevent Varga from sensing Margaret's presence behind him on the way home…

Although he had made some preparations, Varga was, after all, an apothecary and was extremely sensitive to any clues. So Connor was still worried that Margaret might find some flaws in him!

"Why would Connor suddenly decide to cast a cleansing spell on himself?" Varga, who had searched Connor for a full minute without finding anything, asked him casually.

Upon hearing Margaret's question, Connor immediately understood that Margaret had begun to suspect that he had met with her. However, just as Connor was quickly trying to figure out how to answer Varga's question, Varga, without waiting for him to explain, continued to speak nonchalantly:

"Connor, you know what? If you needed my help, you would never be so polite. You would probably just tell me what it is!"
