"No, three days at most!" The mysterious woman in purple robes firmly rejected Connor's suggestion of a week.
"Three days is too tight, unless... more money!" Continuing his greedy act, Connor cautiously probed the other party's attitude!
"Heh!" With a cold laugh, the woman in purple robes took out another hundred gold pounds, slammed them on the table, and said coldly, "Don't be so greedy!"
"Three days! Just three days!" Connor said with feigned delight, picking up the 150 gold pounds from the table and stuffing them into his pocket, but in reality, his heart sank.
It's quite obvious now that the demonized item the purple-robed woman wants is definitely problematic. It's not just about keeping things warm or heating them up. Moreover, this item must be very important to this woman!
Seeing that Connor had agreed to her request for three days, the woman in the purple robe chuckled and walked out of the secret room, ignoring Connor.
Seeing that the woman had left his sight, Connor suppressed the greed on his face, sneered, and with a wave of his hand, collected all the raw materials left by the woman in the purple robe on the table into his spatial ring.
Upon returning to the hall, Connor discovered that the mysterious woman in the purple robe was nowhere to be found. As soon as he came out, Connor could clearly feel several malicious eyes secretly scrutinizing him. His heart sank immediately. Without the slightest hesitation, Connor bowed slightly to Mr. Mustafa, then turned and left without any lingering.
He had gotten what he wanted, and he had no reason to stay here any longer.
As Connor left the Menxing Club, he felt uneasy, with a bad feeling lingering in his mind, but he couldn't put his finger on why.
Connor glanced around, his eyes darting around, and an idea suddenly came to him. He changed out of his disguise and walked into the Storm Church a street away.
Although it was already past four o'clock in the afternoon, the church was still bustling with people. A white-haired priest was standing in front of the statue of the goddess of storms, leading everyone in chanting hymns praising the goddess.
"Great Storm Goddess, you are the embodiment of wisdom and courage..."
Without making a sound, Connor found a seat by the window. He picked up a book from the table and pretended to be praising the Storm Goddess like the believers inside. But in reality, Connor kept glancing out the window out of the corner of his eye.
Connor's bad feeling wasn't unfounded. Just three to five minutes later, a burly man appeared in Connor's field of vision. The man was wearing sunglasses and his top hat was pulled very low. He was looking around as if searching for something.
Upon seeing the burly man, Connor was overjoyed. Although he had removed his mask and put on sunglasses and a top hat, Connor could still recognize him at a glance as the senior apprentice with the yellow mask who had asked about Varga's whereabouts at the Mönchengladbach Club.
Standing on the street, the big man looked around, but never turned his gaze to the Storm Church. Clearly, he couldn't believe that Connor, a dark wizard, had chosen to hide in the Storm Church!
After looking around for a while, the big man seemed to have identified a direction, hailed a taxi, and sped off in another direction.
Watching the burly man's departing figure, Connor felt much more relaxed, but was still filled with lingering fear!
That battle with the bald man in black from the Church of the Spirits made Connor realize that his current strength was simply insufficient to compete with a senior apprentice.
This person must have noticed me spying on him during the gathering at the Menxing Club, but he didn't make a sound and waited until now to come looking for me. If I hadn't been alert and hidden in the Storm Church, the consequences would have been unimaginable... As expected, no high-level wizard apprentice is a simple character!
Instead of leaving the church immediately, Connor observed for a while longer, making sure there was no threat, before finally standing up and leaving. However, as he walked away, Connor was completely unaware that in a hidden corner of the church, a purple figure with a stunningly beautiful face displayed a strange smile.
He hailed a horse-drawn carriage and went to the Sanchez Bank branch on Helen Street, where he was going to pick up some things.
Upon entering the bank, Connor, without waiting for the smiling, tall receptionist to approach him, whispered, "I'm looking for your manager."
Five minutes later, led by the manager of the Sanchez Bank, Connor arrived at the bank's underground safe deposit box area.
"Sir, we're waiting for you outside. Every safe here has an alarm system. Please find the safe that corresponds to your key. You have five minutes to retrieve your belongings!" The somewhat balding manager opened the heavy door and gestured for Connor to come in, saying:
Without saying a word, Connor walked straight into the safe room and easily found safe number seven, which Varga had mentioned contained the key to.
Upon opening the safe and seeing the booklet lying quietly inside, Connor was slightly pleased. Without lingering, he immediately left the safe room, returned the key to the bank manager, and left the bank.
After returning to his apartment at 16 Land Street by horse-drawn carriage, Connor noticed a new package in his parcel locker. Retrieving it, he saw the sender's name was "George," and smiled slightly, muttering, "That George guy, he's pretty quick!"
Back in the house, Connor, unfamiliar with pharmacology, simply glanced at the potion formula that Varga had asked him to get, and had the auxiliary chip record and verify the formula. Since the pharmacology of the dozens of potion formulas recorded in the formula was correct, he put it aside.
Connor picked up a stack of documents and placed them on the table, then began to read them carefully.
These documents were the package George mailed to him. A few days ago, when he was in class, he asked George to find information about all the private hospitals and attending physicians in the East District under the pretext that a relative was coming to Rune for medical treatment.
Connor's request for these documents from George wasn't because he genuinely had a sick relative and wanted to come to Rune for treatment. Rather, his true intention was to enjoy the scenery. Dr. Gulsi and his private hospital were the targets of Connor's investigation.
As for the reason for requesting information on all private hospitals and attending physicians in the East District, it is nothing more than a cover-up and a way to confuse people!
