Wizard Earl
Chapter 888 Roadblock
By the time Connor came to his senses, Zivkovic had already entered the wooden village and gone into a small wooden house in the center of the village. Connor could see his old face with his brows furrowed and his expression as gloomy as water.
Upon seeing Zivkovic's expression upon his return, and considering the appearance of the dark figure, a thought immediately came to Connor's mind.
"Are those two meeting up?"
Although he couldn't clearly see who the shadowy figure was, Connor was certain of one thing: the figure was no more than two hundred meters away from Zivkovic. Zivkovic was a first-level wizard, and for the shadowy figure to appear so close to him without any cover meant that Zivkovic must have known of its existence. Considering this, and Zivkovic's expression, Connor couldn't think of any other possibility besides the possibility that "the two were meeting."
If it were a rendezvous, then at this time of day, and in a very sensitive place like Muzhai, there's no doubt that what the shadowy figure and Zivkovic were talking about was most likely related to that thing!
Judging from the bitter and resentful expression on Zivkovic's face when he returned, there is no doubt that the discussion about that thing did not yield very satisfactory results.
Upon realizing this, Connor's eyes flickered. He had initially wondered how such a small tribe as the Golovin could be associated with such a thing, but now it seemed that the Golovin was just a minor player being put on the spot. It was very likely that there was a behemoth backing Zivkovich behind the Golovin, which was why Zivkovich dared to set up such a large scheme, plotting to take the flesh and blood bodies of more than fifty famous wizards.
This new discovery immediately disrupted Connor's original plans. Connor had initially thought that the Golovin tribe had gotten lucky and gotten involved with something, so he planned to rob Zhivkovic and run away. But now it seemed that if Connor really wanted to gain anything, he might have to kill Zhivkovic to silence him. After all, keeping him alive would only be a menace, and he might very well get himself into trouble and have his backers come after him!
Realizing this, Connor began to consider the matter carefully. Robbing a ticket and leaving was a completely different level of difficulty than killing Zhivkovic. Connor had returned to the camp partly out of greed and partly out of confidence. With his strength, he believed that robbing Zhivkovic in the camp and leaving would not be dangerous.
However, if he were to take down Zivkovic now, the risk level would skyrocket. Connor is confident he can take down Zivkovic, but what he's really hesitant about is how much he'll have to pay to do so!
After all, when Connor returns to Frosinone in a few days, he'll still have to deal with that old fox, Adolf. If his injuries from killing Zhivkovic become too severe and Adolf finds out, there's no guarantee Adolf won't have ulterior motives. In that case, Connor would have suffered a great loss for a small gain…
After thinking for a while, Connor made a decision. He first used his mental power to secretly observe the surroundings of the wooden village, confirming that the dark figure had gone far away and would not return to the village. Then, Connor quietly made his way to the wooden house where Zivkovich was in the village.
What price will Connor have to pay to take down Zivkovic? How will he know if he doesn't try?
Connor was unwilling to give up just because he discovered that Zivkovic had someone backing him up. This greatly increased Varga's chances of successfully breaking through to the first level of wizardry!
Fearing that getting too close would alert Zivkovic inside the cabin, Connor didn't get too close and hid behind a large wooden stake outside the cabin.
Under Connor's watchful eye, Zivkovic paced back and forth in the room with a serious expression, his hands behind his back. Clearly, he was facing a very difficult problem.
After observing Zivkovic for a few seconds, Connor quickly shifted his attention to the room's furnishings. Although Zivkovic's room looked very simple and plain, with only a bed, a chair, a table, and a meditation cushion, Connor, as an alchemist familiar with alchemical mechanisms and various restrictions, still noticed something amiss.
The underground space in the room is protected by a kind of barrier that will sound an alarm and automatically defend itself in the event of a sudden attack on the house. The chair and table are also special; when attacked, they will become natural shelters, providing temporary protection for Zivkovic!
Normally, these things in the room would only be a minor nuisance for Connor, something he could easily resolve in a few minutes. But now, they've become obstacles preventing Connor from launching a sneak attack on Zivkovic!
In Connor's eyes, if he wanted to kill Zivkovic without paying too heavy a price, then a sneak attack was undoubtedly the best option. Now, if Connor wanted to launch a sudden and swift attack on Zivkovic, neither the underground restrictions nor the protective bunkers in the room could stop Connor's attack. However, these things would buy Zivkovic one or two seconds.
One second, two seconds, though seemingly short, could greatly influence the outcome of Connor's sneak attack on Zivkovic. Connor's attack might have severely injured Zivkovic and secured victory.
However, once Zivkovic has the one or two seconds of reaction time that the wooden cabin provides, he can quickly establish a defense. In the end, he may only suffer some minor, insignificant injuries from Connor's sneak attack, which will not have a significant impact on his strength.
The most awkward thing is that, because Zivkovic himself is in the room, even though Connor could easily get rid of this "roadblock" in his way, he can't do anything but stare blankly!
After thinking quickly for a moment, Connor's eyes lit up and he came up with a good idea. Since the wooden house where Zivkovic was located was protected, he could completely avoid its presence!
By luring Zivkovic out of the hut, and then launching a sneak attack, wouldn't that perfectly resolve my current predicament?
