Wizard Earl

Chapter 854 Adolf's Two Objectives

"So, Uncle Prince, you were beaten up like this by Connor Ferguson all by yourself?" After carefully listening to Prince Boateng's words, Isabella could no longer contain her shock and asked Prince Boateng, who was sitting on the ground:

Faced with Isabella's question, Prince Boateng, though his face burning as if slapped, desperately wanted to deny it, could only reluctantly explain, since he had already admitted it, "Connor Ferguson set a trap for me, filled with alchemical mechanisms and arrays taught to him by Reyes. These mechanisms and arrays were both concealed and extremely powerful. I was caught off guard and fell into his trap..."

Before Prince Boateng could finish his explanation, Isabella's heart was already in turmoil. She never expected that Connor Ferguson, without Bispin's help, could beat Prince Boateng, a veteran first-class wizard, to such a state all by himself.

However, just as she was feeling unsettled, Adolf, who had been silent since Prince Boateng finished explaining, took advantage of a lull in Prince Boateng's rambling and very discreetly transmitted a message to her:

"Let's do it!"

Just as Isabella thought she had misheard, Adolf suddenly attacked Prince Boateng without any warning, before he could finish speaking. A gray fist shadow slammed into Prince Boateng, who was not far away. Prince Boateng had not expected Adolf to attack him and was caught off guard. He was hit by the punch and was sent flying five or six meters away. A mouthful of bright red blood spurted from his mouth.

Although she didn't know why Adolf suddenly attacked Prince Boateng, Isabella didn't hesitate to attack Prince Boateng as well, trusting him. Streaks of purple ice flames swept towards Prince Boateng, freezing one of his arms and both of his legs into ice blocks.

Prince Boateng, already severely injured, was then subjected to a series of attacks by Adolf and Isabella in a short period of time, instantly losing his ability to resist.

Why?

Arms and legs frozen solid, Prince Boateng could only speak through his mouth. However, this Odin man was surprisingly resilient; even in his current predicament, where he was at the mercy of others, he didn't beg for mercy. Instead, he coldly questioned Adolf before him:

The gray-robed elder Adolf showed no desire to answer Prince Boateng's question. Instead, he kicked Prince Boateng hard in the head, knocking him unconscious.

"At this point, you still want to stall for time, trying to use the Reverse Meditation Technique to take me down with you? Prince Boateng, you're really overestimating yourself!" Adolf sneered at Prince Boateng, who was lying unconscious on the ground, and said with utter disdain:

He took out a gleaming copper ring from his spatial ring and put it around the neck of the unconscious Prince Boateng. Only after doing this did a satisfied smile appear on the face of the gray-robed old man, Adolf. The next second, he seemed to sense something and turned around to see Isabella looking at him with a somewhat hesitant expression.

Although Isabella hadn't spoken yet, Adolf seemed to already know what she was about to say. He waved his hand and said, "Isabella, your father taught you a saying when you were little: there are no permanent friends, no permanent enemies, only permanent interests. Just like your father and Reyes, before you were even born, the Duke, Reyes, and Conti were the closest of comrades!"

"The three of them fought side by side, founded the secret society, and transformed a small dark wizarding organization into the massive organization it is today, based in the Kaman Empire, with influence spanning the entire Byzantine and Hoy continents!"

"But also because of mutual interests, Reyes and Conte joined forces and stood against your father, plunging the Secret Society into a state of de facto division!"

"Professor Adolf, I understand what you're saying, but what does all this have to do with Prince Boateng?" Isabella asked, frowning.

"Of course it's related. I had two reasons for taking action against Prince Boateng, and the first was for you, Isabella!" Adolf glanced deeply at Isabella, who looked puzzled, and continued:

"Prince Boateng's advanced meditation method, the 'Pinamonti Codex,' contains a secret technique called Alberto's Ice Energy Technique!"

"According to records, this secret technique greatly improves the purity of magic power for wizards who cultivate ice-attribute energy. I know that Isabella, your magic power purity is already very high among wizard apprentices, but Alberto's Ice Energy Technique will allow you to form a decent combat force in a short period of time after you become a formal wizard."

This is also a major reason why Prince Boateng, who had just become a first-level wizard, dared to ambush Reyes in the Benitezburg Ruins. Besides, this secret technique will greatly benefit Isabella in her future formal wizarding training. If Prince Boateng hadn't been so consumed by revenge against Reyes, he would already be a second-level wizard with this technique! Adolf said quietly, then changed the subject:

"Besides getting the Alberto Ice Energy Technique from Prince Boateng, I have a second, and most important, reason for attacking him today: to frame Bispin for his death, and to make the conflict between the Boateng family and Reyes even more irreconcilable!"

"Isabella, you need to understand that in the deal with the Boateng family, Reyes has all the bargaining chips we have, and he also has the chips we don't have. That's why Reyes didn't sabotage our deal with the Boateng family, but waited until our negotiations were almost complete before sending Bispin to Frosinone to kill Prince Boateng."

"Reyes was a man of careful planning even in his youth, and now he's even more cunning. He hopes that once we and the Boateng family have established this vast trade route from the Odin Empire to the Kaman Empire, and then to the Hoy Continent, he can seize the opportunity, kick us out of the trade, and then continue trading with the Boateng family!"
