Chapter 757 Nighttime Visit to Ferguson's Mansion (3)

After so many years of living together, Jack Ferguson knew that Eugenia harbored great ambitions for the Earl of Ferguson's position, but he never expected that his wife seemed to have put her ambitions into action. "Every single thing you've done, that old bastard Martinez, remembers it all and has the evidence in his hands! Once Alfredo dies and Connor Ferguson becomes Earl Ferguson, Martinez will hand the evidence over to Connor Ferguson. Do you think that little rascal who's been away from the family for ten years will remember your uncle-nephew relationship and not pursue your embezzlement of family property? Jack Ferguson, speak to me!" Eugenia retorted to Jack Ferguson with heartache. Although she was very emotional, she hadn't lost her mind and kept her voice low.

Although Jack Ferguson and Eugenia da Silva were relatively restrained and spoke in low voices, Connor's mental probing outside the mansion still made the sounds very clear to him.

Eugenia felt no fear despite the fierce look on her husband's face. Having slept together for so many years, she knew all too well the ruthless nature beneath the lecherous exterior of this man. A disdainful smile appeared on her well-maintained face, and she waved her hand, saying, "You don't need to know how I know. You just need to understand that I am your wife, the mother of your son and daughter. I've been with you for thirty years; I would never harm you!"

Eugenia paused here, then looked at Jack Ferguson and said very seriously, enunciating each word clearly, "And the most important thing is your secret. I, a woman, know it all. How could Martinez, that old bastard who's been running your Ferguson family all his life, not know? The reason that damned old man hasn't caused you any trouble is because Alfredo has tacitly approved of your actions. As soon as Connor Ferguson becomes Earl Ferguson, your third uncle will be finished!"

After listening to his wife's words and realizing that what she said was very likely true, Jack Ferguson's face turned pale and then red. A few seconds later, he seemed to be completely defeated. He staggered a couple of steps and sat back down in the chair behind his desk, his face full of dejection, and fell into silence.

At Eugenia's suggestion, he chose not to compete, and even just now advised Eugenia to give up, for two reasons. Firstly, he knew Connor had a clear advantage, and even if he tried, he would likely lose. Secondly, over the years, he had amassed a considerable fortune through the Ferguson family, enough to remain a wealthy man even after a complete retirement. His family wouldn't be left destitute. However, Eugenia's words now seemed like a sharp blade, completely severing his prized escape route…

Seeing her husband like this, Eugenia was disappointed, but the two had been together for decades and had children, so their relationship was very deep. She felt a pang of heartache and went over to Jack Ferguson, embracing him tightly.

Finding some solace in Eugenia's arms, Jack Ferguson finally raised his head and whispered to her, "I know I'm letting down the family and Alfredo, but I have no choice. I'm doing this for our family. Henry and the others can't inherit the family fortune, but at least I can secure some for them so they won't have to worry about money for the rest of their lives!"
