Chapter 721 Isabella

Chapter 721 Isabella

Isabella was undeniably beautiful, but one thing was noticeable: a pinkish scar, about three centimeters long, was still visible near her left eyebrow, despite careful concealment.

"Are you satisfied now?" Isabella, revealing her true colors, looked coldly at Connor with her deep blue eyes, clearly suppressing her anger.

After admiring Isabella's beauty for a while, Connor, upon hearing her question, nodded matter-of-factly and said, "Of course! If Miss Isabella, you wish to leave now, I will not stop you. In one minute, this train should arrive at Rummenigge station, right?"

Hearing Connor's words, Isabella didn't speak. She simply raised her hand and put the thin, transparent mask back on her face. A few seconds later, Isabella's face reverted to its previous full beard. Without hesitation, Isabella stood up and placed her hand on the doorknob of the small booth. However, after doing this, Isabella didn't leave immediately. Remembering something, she turned around and glared at Connor, seemingly venting her hatred, saying, "Connor Ferguson, you're a bastard!"

Having vented her anger after saying that, Isabella, without further hesitation, pushed open the door to the small private room and strode away.

Watching Isabella storm off in anger, Connor made no comment. He remained calm and thoughtful, as if waiting for something. Connor didn't have to wait long before the train let out another long whistle and stopped at the Rummenigge train station platform. Under Connor's mental surveillance, Isabella, maintaining the appearance of a middle-aged man with a thick beard, stepped off the train without any hesitation and walked into the train station.

Although he saw Isabella leave, Connor remained vigilant, keeping his mental energy on high alert to prevent her from sneaking back onto the train. This continued for about five minutes until the train departed from Rummenigge again, at which point Connor finally relaxed and withdrew his mental energy.

Connor pulled out the wax pellet that Isabella had given him with the little frog from his pocket. With a slight movement of his fingers, the wax pellet instantly split in two, revealing a small piece of paper hidden inside.

The note had a line of finely written Byzantine script.

"63 Via Zanetti"

Looking at the address on the note, Connor's eyes flashed with surprise. If his memory served him right, there was no Zanetti Avenue in the four districts of Rune City. However, there was a Zanetti Avenue in his hometown, the distant city of Frosinone. But it had been so long that Connor only remembered that there was such a street, but he couldn't remember what number 63 Zanetti Avenue was.

Thinking of this, Connor's brows furrowed. To be honest, when he saw the alchemical golem frog give him the wax pill, Connor had already vaguely realized that it was the Duke's people looking for him.

Because if it were Rune Reyes's subordinates, leaderless and unable to cause him trouble after Old Victor's death, or the Storm Church, the Imperial Secret Service, or even his mortal enemy, the Celta Cult, they wouldn't use such gentle methods to contact him. Instead, they would use alchemical golems to deliver messages in such a covert way. The only one Connor could think of was his mentor's enemy—the Royal Faction!

In fact, even before Reyes mentioned in the message he left in the crystal ball that the Duke's faction would come looking for him, Connor had already realized that the Duke's faction would come looking for him sooner or later. Reyes had trained him from an ordinary person into a high-level wizard apprentice, and he wanted to continue training him into a full wizard. There was no doubt that his ambitions were not small. Since Reyes's ambitions were so great, then Reyes's rival in the secret society, the legendary third-level wizard Duke, would most likely not sit idly by. So sooner or later they would make contact with him.

Despite having this awareness, Connor was still surprised by his encounter with the Duke's faction on the train, and he sensed a hint of danger...

With a slight shake of his head, Connor conjured a wisp of black flame at his fingertips, burning the small piece of paper with the address "36 Zanetti Avenue" written on it into ashes. Before the ashes could fall onto the floor of the train compartment, Connor raised his hand slightly, and a gust of wind blew up, carrying the ashes out of the compartment window into the vast world outside.

After dealing with these matters, Connor left his compartment and returned to his and Varga's compartment in the sixth carriage of the train. Upon seeing Connor's return, Varga gave him an inquiring look. Although Varga was alone in the compartment after Connor's departure, she remained vigilant and prepared to assist Connor should anything happen to him.

Under Varga's gaze, Connor nodded slightly, signaling Varga to calm down. He then closed the door to the compartment and took out a blue pen from his spatial ring. He flicked the pen lightly, and a transparent red light immediately appeared on it. As the red light appeared, an invisible soundproof barrier instantly enveloped Connor and Varga in the train compartment.

Seeing Connor setting up a soundproof barrier with such care and seriousness, Varga's expression gradually became solemn as well.

"It's someone from the Duke's men, they've come to see me!" Connor said in a low voice after carefully choosing his words. He then looked up at Varga, who was standing close to him, and took her small hand, continuing gently, "But don't worry, they're probably just trying to contact me. They don't seem to have any ill intentions for now, and I've already kicked them off this train!"

"Did Martina lure them here?" Varga asked softly after a moment's thought.

Connor shook his head and said without hesitation, "I don't think so. Margaret told me that on the night she encountered old Victor in the fishing village of Alavés, Margaret met Martina. Martina betrayed some information to Margaret in exchange for her release. Margaret witnessed Martina fleeing to the New World of Hoy under the moonlight. Martina shouldn't have had the opportunity to inform the Duke's faction!"
