Chapter 668 Old Victor's Doubts

Chapter 668 Old Victor's Doubts

Upon hearing the aged voice, Strootman seemed to realize who the voice belonged to. His previously anxious expression turned ashen.

"Butler Victor, even if I surprised you, you still found your way here, didn't you?" Martina said with a cold laugh as she stood up, looking towards the direction from which the voice came from outside the secret room.

As soon as Martina finished speaking, the door to the secret chamber where she and Strootman were suddenly cracked open and turned into flying metal fragments. A few breaths later, the metal fragments landed on the ground, and a hunched figure leaning on his hand slowly walked into the secret chamber.

"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"

As soon as old Victor stepped into the secret room, three cold arrows flashing with green light tore through the air and shot towards his throat, heart, and brow—three vital points!

However, to Martina's disappointment, her three green arrows, which had been invincible against Connor and Margaret, shattered and fell to the ground before they even reached a meter in front of old Victor!

Entering the secret chamber, old Victor, leaning on his cane, gazed intently at Martina, who, in his field of vision, held a green longbow and stared back fearlessly at him.

However, to everyone's surprise, it was not Martina or old Victor who broke the silence first, but a person who seemed not so insignificant—Stromann.

"Thump!"

Looking at old Victor confronting Martina, Strootman, who stood in the secret chamber with a deathly pale face, knelt down without warning. He placed his right hand on his chest, his eyes filled with pleading, and said to old Victor, "Butler Victor, I surrender! I am an alchemist, I am of value to you. If you spare my life, I am willing to dedicate the rest of my life to you!"

Seeing Strootman's humiliating defection at the last minute, Martina seemed unsurprised. Her eyes remained calm, and she did not condemn Strootman. Instead, she looked at him with a hint of mockery.

"Are you an alchemist?" Old Victor's cloudy gaze shifted from Martina to Strootman, who was kneeling on the ground begging for his life, and he asked with apparent interest:

Sensing the interest in old Victor's words and feeling a glimmer of hope for survival, Strootman's eyes lit up and he immediately nodded, then hurriedly said, "That's right! I'm an alchemist, I have decades of alchemy experience, I can definitely help you, Butler Victor..."

Before Stromann could finish speaking, a small hole suddenly appeared between his eyebrows. The hole was small, but it instantly pierced through Stromann's head. Stromann, whose eyes still held a hint of joy, fell straight to the ground without any struggle.

"I have alchemists under my command, I don't need you..." Old Victor said calmly after casually killing Strootman.

Having dealt with Stroman, old Victor turned his attention back to Martina. He gazed at the dark green longbow in her hand for a moment, then remarked with some emotion, "Your Highness, you truly value Martina, entrusting the Kahn Magic Bow to you!"

Seeing that old Victor recognized the origin of her injured, dark green longbow at a glance, Martina showed no surprise. A cold smile appeared on her lips as she said calmly, "Butler Victor, are you so surprised that I have the Kahn Magic Bow?"

Upon hearing Margaret's question, old Victor, leaning on his cane, smiled slightly across his wrinkled face. Instead of directly answering Martina's question, he countered, "Martina, since the Kahn Magic Bow is in your possession, do you know the origin of this treasure?"

Martina frowned slightly, unsure of Old Victor's meaning. However, given her need for time to prepare, stalling with Old Victor seemed like a good option. So, while remaining wary of a possible sudden attack from Old Victor, Martina replied in a low voice, "I don't know. Is there some story behind this Kahn Magic Bow?"

"This Kahn Magic Bow, a top-tier second-tier attack magic item, was personally crafted by the master when he was still at the Turin Academy, as a birthday gift for His Excellency the King!" Old Victor said leisurely, gazing at Martina.

Hearing old Victor's words, Martina, while remaining vigilant, also secretly gripped the Kahn Magic Bow in her hand even tighter. She truly didn't know that this Kahn Magic Bow had such an origin. This top-tier level two offensive enchanted item, known as the Kahn Magic Bow, was given to her by the Royal Family's faction half a year ago when they supplied it with a batch of cultivation resources. It was meant for her to use when she needed to perform actions that made it inconvenient to use her combined magic item, the Jade Bracelet.

Seemingly sensing Martina's wariness and suspicion, old Victor shook his head slightly, then spoke to Martina again, "Martina, I have a question, and I hope you can give me an answer?"

Faced with old Victor's questions, Martina's face was serious and her gaze was cold, showing no interest in answering so many questions.

Although Martina didn't answer, old Victor still asked, "Martina, I think you should know that my current target is Connor Ferguson. What, you volunteered to take a bullet for him?"

Although old Victor's words were calm, they stirred up a storm in Martina's heart. Old Victor's question made Martina realize that she seemed to have misunderstood a very fatal problem!

That was the powerful, high-level wizard apprentice who ambushed her on her way back after meeting Connor Ferguson that day, wearing a strange scarlet mask and using forbidden blood magic. It seemed to be what Old Victor meant, that he wasn't the assassin Old Victor sent to kill her! If that's really the case, then there's no doubt that Martina has pushed herself into the abyss.

Taking a deep breath, Martina stared at old Victor and tentatively said, "Heh, has Butler Victor forgotten what he did so quickly? Why don't you let your assassin who used blood magic step forward?"

Although Martina's words sounded somewhat sarcastic, the cunning old Victor immediately understood the true meaning of her probing. His cloudy eyes changed, and after a long while, he sighed and said, "It seems that a third person has gotten involved."
