Chapter 639 Secret Talk

While the goatee-bearded old man's actions seemed ordinary and unremarkable, they caused the professor's handwritten letter, as described by old Victor, to spontaneously combust in a bizarre manner. However, neither old Victor nor the goatee-bearded old man seemed particularly surprised by the letter's spontaneous combustion.

After receiving the information, the goatee-bearded old man opened his eyes again. He looked at old Victor, who was waiting quietly to the side, and without saying a word, he simply nodded and got up to leave, disappearing from the Pinsolio Manor controlled by the secret society.

After confirming that the goatee-wearing old man had left, old Victor's aged face revealed a cold smile, and he muttered sarcastically, "Coward! You really think you're something special. If it weren't for the master's support, would you be where you are today?"

The old man with the goatee was none other than Edel, the bishop of the Storm Church in Rune. His identity was sensitive, so in order to avoid being exposed, he chose this method, disguising himself as an old man with a goatee, to come to this manor belonging to the secret society to meet with old Victor.

After his taunts, old Victor calmed his anger, and his eyes gradually regained their composure. Although Edel's words today seemed somewhat cryptic, they were crystal clear to old Victor.

Today's meeting was arranged by Eder, who is a very cautious man and had never done this before. The fact that he did it today is of extraordinary significance in old Victor's eyes!

Old Victor believed that Eder was aware of this as well, otherwise he wouldn't have been so eager to put pressure on him and ask him to give him a deadline.

For the Secret Society, Edel was a high-ranking traitor within the Storm Church that they had developed at great cost. Unless absolutely necessary and at their wits' end, the Secret Society would never abandon Edel! So, despite his dislike for Edel, old Victor still chose to tell Edel all the information he had, in order to give Edel some advantage in his struggle against Longley.

Just as old Victor was frowning and deep in thought, the burly Roberto walked up to him and stood respectfully, not daring to disturb the old Victor who was deep in thought. Judging from Roberto's appearance, it seemed that he and old Victor were not wizards of the same level at all, and that old Victor was his teacher.

Upon seeing Roberto's appearance, old Victor stopped thinking, glanced at Roberto who showed him the utmost respect, and nodded to himself. He felt a little better after being humiliated by Edel. The reason he regarded Roberto as his confidant was not only because Roberto was someone he had personally promoted from a novice wizard apprentice, but more importantly because of Roberto's heartfelt respect for him. This respect made old Victor feel very good!

Frowning, he looked at Roberto and asked, "What happened?"

"Butler Victor, there are signs of activity at Ferguson Apartments!" Roberto replied in a low voice, head bowed.

"Oh?" Upon hearing Roberto's words, a cold glint immediately flashed in old Victor's eyes. He ended his contemplation and turned to Roberto, asking, "Can you confirm that the other party is Connor Ferguson?"

"This..." Roberto's expression faltered, then he said somewhat awkwardly, "Butler Victor, it's like this, didn't you previously instruct me that Connor Ferguson is a psychic wizard with a wide range of mental energy and keen intuition? You told me not to alert him, but only to keep a distant watch on Rand Street, and if I discovered anything unusual at Ferguson's apartment, not to act rashly, but to report to you immediately? So..."

Roberto's words immediately reminded old Victor of his previous instructions to Roberto. He didn't mention gods or demons again, but simply nodded slowly. Then, he took out a fist-sized dark green crystal ball from his spatial ring, with several dazzling silver threads embedded in its surface, and threw it at Roberto.

"Butler Victor, what is this...?"

After catching the uniquely shaped crystal ball that old Victor tossed to him, Roberto asked old Victor with some surprise:

"This is the Spirit Pearl. By channeling your spiritual power into it, you can discreetly observe what's happening a kilometer away!" Old Victor said calmly.
