Chapter 629 Another Clash

Chapter 629 Another Clash

Connor closed his eyes and scanned his surroundings with his mental energy, but found nothing. Seeing this, he then looked at the tracks left by Tusam's carriage on the ground. After observing for a while, Connor's eyes showed no anger or impatience at losing Tusam. On the contrary, a mocking look appeared in Connor's eyes. Then, without hesitation, Connor chased after the tracks in the opposite direction.

"Hold on! There's a small village ahead; I'm sure I can get a carriage from there!"

Tusam, struggling to run forward through the mountains and forests, repeatedly comforted himself, trying to numb himself and alleviate the pain in his body. At this moment, Tusam's face was sickly pale, and beads of sweat the size of beans kept flowing down his forehead. The injuries caused by being chased by the secret society, although he had meditated and taken healing potions last night, could only delay the onset of the injuries, but could not cure them.

Now, with Connor chasing him from behind, he had no choice but to run at full speed to evade Connor's pursuit, which inevitably caused his injuries to flare up again. However, even so, Tusam dared not relax in the slightest. He knew very well that with Connor Ferguson's strength, that black crystal ball would not be able to hold him off for long.

So he deliberately let Connor see him get into the carriage, making Connor mistakenly believe that he was escaping in the carriage. But in reality, he abandoned the carriage, the means of transportation in Kararov, and walked towards Tunguska. As for the empty carriage, he gave the horse a hard thud and made it go to a place completely opposite to Tunguska.

If Connor falls for the trick and follows the carriage tracks, then everything will be fine, and Tusam will be very fortunate to have more time to escape. However, just in case his scheme fails to fool Connor, Tusam also needs to reach the nearest city, Tunguska, as soon as possible and catch a train. Only then can he be truly safe and completely shake off Connor and the Secret Society!

Although Tusam's will was very strong, the physical pain and fatigue inevitably slowed him down. After crossing another hill, just as Tusam was feeling increasingly strained, he suddenly noticed that the damned black figure was flying towards him at an extremely fast speed. At this speed, the black-robed figure would be in front of him in less than a minute.

Upon sensing Connor's reappearance, Tusam was struck dumb, his mind reeling. A few seconds later, Tusam, who had been feeling utterly hopeless, came to his senses. A bitter smile appeared on his pale face as he shook his head. Instead of continuing to run, he simply plopped down on a nearby rock, as if waiting for Connor's arrival!

Now that Connor had caught up, Tusam knew that in his current physical condition, continuing to run would only be a waste of energy and stamina. If Connor Ferguson was determined to kill him, he might as well fight Connor Ferguson to the death. Even before he died, Tusam wanted to leave a mark on this noble young master Connor Ferguson!

Thirty seconds later, Connor, his gaze chilling, appeared before Tusam and gave Tusam's pale face, who sat on the rock, a meaningful look. When they met before, perhaps Tusam had concealed it well, and Connor hadn't noticed anything amiss. But now, Connor could clearly see that Tusam's physical condition was far from optimistic; he must have suffered a serious injury. No wonder he had hastily thrown a black crystal ball and fled after their brief encounter, not daring to confront him directly—he was injured!

Sitting on the rock, Tusam met Connor's scrutinizing gaze without flinching, as if to tell Connor that he didn't mind letting Connor know about his injuries.

"Connor Ferguson, I don't know what your relationship is with Dr. Varga, but Dr. Varga should be with that old man Victor right now!" Tusam said, giving Connor a deep look, his words a mix of truth and falsehood.

Although he abandoned his plan to escape, it did not mean that Tusam did not want to live. In the few dozen seconds that had just passed while waiting for Connor to arrive, Tusam's desire for life kept him thinking. He wanted to live, so he had to shift the blame and direct Connor's anger to old Victor. Only in this way would Connor have any chance of letting him go.

Seeing that Tusam had taken the initiative to speak, Connor's eyes flickered a few times, then he asked calmly, "Are you proficient with the Purifying Elixir?"

Upon hearing Connor utter the words "Purifying Potion," Tusam seemed to realize something, his expression changing slightly. He then said to Connor with a bitter expression, "So, the reason my two men didn't come to Kevin Town is because they were defeated by you, Connor Ferguson?"

"That's right! Did you get the Purifying Potion from Varga?" Connor nodded, not denying that Matthews and Charles died at his hands. Then he asked Tusam again. Varga was not by Tusam's side, so in Connor's eyes, whether Tusam got the Purifying Potion from Varga would be an important basis for whether Varga was still alive.

"Connor Ferguson, now that you know about the Purifying Potion, I won't beat around the bush. Yes, I admit that my purpose in seeking out Dr. Varga was the Purifying Potion, and I don't deny that. But after Dr. Varga told me the true effects of the Purifying Potion, I never thought about getting it again!" Tusam said, shrugging. His expression was very sincere, and he didn't seem to be faking it at all.

Seeing Tusam's state, Connor's eyes and expression remained unchanged as he continued, "You killed Varga!" Connor's question was carefully crafted. Although it appeared to be a question, it was actually a statement, as if he was certain Varga was dead at Tusam's hands. This was a small test to see if he could extract anything useful from Tusam!
