Chapter 599 Cold Arrow

Chapter 599 Cold Arrow

Thinking of this, Connor increased the speed of his incantation by three points. However, Connor suddenly raised his eyebrows and saw a cold arrow, half a meter long, shooting towards Connor's throat from the darkness of the distant swamp. The arrow was incredibly fast. Connor had only just noticed it when it had already reached within fifty meters of him!

Without any hesitation, Connor immediately unleashed his innate spell, Abyssal Chains, forming a chain shield in front of him!

"Bang!"

The arrow collided with the chain shield, producing a dull thud. Although the arrow pierced Connor's chain shield, the immense impact still caused the shield to tremble violently. And that wasn't all. From the direction from which the first arrow came, three more identical arrows shot out, aiming for Connor's ankle, heart, and brow—three vital points!

Connor glanced deeply into the depths of the swamp where he had fired those cold arrows. It was shrouded in darkness; even with Connor's powerful mental abilities as a psychic wizard, he couldn't sense anyone there. A hint of regret flickered in his eyes, but Connor acted without hesitation. He activated the Lightness of Movement spell from his black robes. With the spell's enhancement, Connor, still a high-level wizard apprentice, instantly soared like a fully-fledged wizard, covering more than ten meters in the blink of an eye. Then, with a wave of his Castilian Staff, the Castilian Barrier that had bound Tusam immobile just moments before was withdrawn.

Just as Tusam was relieved to be free from the constraints of the Castia magic circle, right before his eyes, Connor swiftly unleashed two Yin Demon Slashes, slicing open the throats of Tusam's two henchmen. This sudden turn of events caused Tusam's smile to freeze instantly. However, a second later, as he regained his senses and his face contorted with rage, ready to seek revenge on Connor, Connor had already made a hasty retreat, using his Lightness Technique to escape far away!

"Connor Ferguson, you son of a bitch! Don't let me ever see you again, or I'll chop your head off and throw it down the drain!"

Looking at the corpses of his two men, Tusam cursed angrily. However, even as he cursed, his hands didn't stop moving. He released black energy that enveloped the two corpses and the two severely wounded but still alive demonic knights. After a few seconds, Tusam withdrew the black energy, and the four demonic knights turned into four wisps of ashes, sinking into the bottomless swamp…

"Thanks for earlier!" After finishing, Tusam looked towards the darkness of the swamp not far away and said somewhat sheepishly in a low voice:

As soon as Tusam finished speaking, a woman wearing a ghost mask and a green outfit emerged from the darkness. She then removed the ghost mask, revealing her true appearance. This person was none other than Martina.

"Tusam, why are you fighting Connor to the death? Didn't I tell you? It's not time yet. We're here to put pressure on Connor so he'll deal with old Victor, right?" Martina frowned, looking quite displeased as she looked at Tusam, who appeared somewhat disheveled.

Sensing the dissatisfaction in Martina's tone, Tusa, though also seething with anger, couldn't vent his frustration on her since it was Martina who had forced Connor to release him from the magic circle. He could only say with a hint of helplessness, "Connor Ferguson is stronger than I imagined. The array released by that Castilian Staff you mentioned is indeed very powerful; I was a bit careless..."

Although she was furious that Tusam's carelessness had almost ruined her entire plan, Martina had no choice. After all, Tusam was still her biggest ally, and now was not the time to part ways with him. So, she could only suppress her anger and continue, "You and your men, suspend operations for the rest of the time. Do not attack Connor Ferguson again, and do not stalk him near his apartment!"

"Why is there another person here?"

In the safe house on Ramsey Street in the North District of Rune, Connor lay on the bed, his eyes half-closed, muttering to himself:

Just now in the Ruen Swamp, Connor was extremely reluctant to give up this good opportunity to kill Tusam, but there was nothing he could do. Although Connor did not find out who the guy who shot him from behind was, the power of those arrows was not to be underestimated!

What's even more frustrating for Connor is that none of the Tusams are easy to deal with. Connor would have to be completely focused to trap and kill them in the Castia magic circle!

However, because of those hidden arrows, Connor simply couldn't do that. If Connor were to harden his heart and continue to deal with Tusam, it probably wouldn't be long before Tusam died in Castile, and Connor himself would be riddled with arrows!

Leaving the swamp, Connor, fearing that the other party would continue to stalk and monitor him around the Ferguson apartment, did not return to the Ferguson apartment on Rand Street in the East End, but instead came to this safe house that only he knew about.

Connor was now very puzzled. According to the information Varga gave him about the number and strength of Tusam's group of demonized knights, apart from the other two demonized knights, Tusam and his four other subordinates had already gathered in the swamp today, and there shouldn't be any other people. However, the facts he had just experienced were right in front of Connor, telling him that there was indeed an unknown person hiding in the dark!

Assuming that the person who shot Connor from behind wasn't there in that swamp, Connor is quite certain that he would have trapped Tusam in the Castia magic circle. If things had turned out that way, the fate of these demonized knights wouldn't have been as simple as just four minions dying!

The big boss among the demonized knights, Tusam, is almost certainly going to die under the hail of blades from the ten black knights in the Castia magic circle. However, because of this person who shot him in the back, Connor has no choice but to give up this golden opportunity.
