Wizard Earl

Chapter 589 Entanglement

Chapter 589 Entanglement

"This time, he's the one who started this trouble!" Meeting old Victor's gaze, Martina showed no remorse and said coldly:

Picking up his teacup, Old Vic said with a hint of meaning, "Martina, as an elder, I have a piece of advice for you: even if you despise something, don't show it so obviously!" He then took another sip of his tea, and as if remembering something, added, "Connor Ferguson does this very well. If he weren't a wizard, he could definitely be an actor at the Imperial Grand Theatre!"

Upon hearing old Victor's assessment of Connor, Martina nodded, looking quite convinced, seemingly indicating that she also considered Connor a good actor.

"Tell me, what new discoveries have you made?" Old Victor placed his teacup on the tea table and asked Martina casually, giving her a once-over.

"Pellene, one of the two high-ranking wizard apprentices of the Celta Vigo Church, was killed by Connor, and I've also lost all contact with Wanda. It's very likely she was killed by Connor as well!" Martina looked at old Victor, her head bowed, and said in a low voice.

Upon hearing Martina's account, even the usually shrewd and composed old Victor couldn't help but show a hint of surprise in his eyes. However, he quickly concealed this surprise and, after a moment of contemplation, asked with interest, "Do you know how Connor did it?"

"I need some more time, but based on the intelligence we've gathered about the Celta Cult, Wanda and Perrin, although temporarily allied, are not truly united. Connor is very likely to seize this opportunity to defeat Wanda and Perrin one by one!" Martina, who had witnessed the entire death of Perrin, analyzed solemnly to old Victor.

Old Victor pondered Martina's analysis for a moment and nodded slightly, saying thoughtfully, "Martina, if I remember correctly, what you said makes some sense. If I remember correctly, the murder of Alex Sandro, the high-ranking wizard apprentice of the Cult of Celta who was the first to break into Connor's apartment, was also suspected to be Connor's doing, wasn't it?"

“That’s right! Someone saw him sneaking into Connor’s Ferguson apartment again on the night of the 17th, but no one has seen him since. The Celtic Church’s secret letter to Perrin and Wanda has confirmed that Alex Sandro is dead. The Celtic Church has even sent Perrin and Wanda to search for Alex Sandro’s killer!” Martina said, a mocking smile appearing on her face, and then continued:

"It's worth noting that Connor didn't show up during Alex Sandro's two visits to Ferguson's apartment. Given Connor's modus operandi, it's highly likely that Alex Sandro was murdered by him!"

Listening to Martina's account, old Victor nodded almost imperceptibly, then said with a hint of感慨 (gan3kai3, a complex emotion encompassing both admiration and regret), "If all these deaths are attributed to Connor, then this little rascal Connor has truly surprised this old man!"

After his reflections, old Victor seemed to realize something and asked Martina somewhat uncertainly, "Martina, do you think it's possible that Connor has an accomplice in Rune that we don't know about, and that this accomplice is secretly doing a lot for Connor..."

Although old Victor's question was somewhat casual, Martina was immediately startled. However, unlike Connor, who was used to hiding her feelings and not showing them on her face, Martina did not hide her expression. A look of shock clearly appeared on her cold and beautiful face, as if she was considering this possibility for the first time. If Connor were standing here, he would definitely sigh that Martina's acting skills were in no way inferior to his own.

After a long pause, Martina, still somewhat incredulous, asked old Victor, "Butler Victor, is this really possible? Or... have you discovered something?"

After observing Martina's expression for a few seconds, old Victor finally spoke, saying, "This is just my guess at the moment. If I had evidence, I would have already dug this person out."

Seeing this, Martina's shock subsided somewhat. After a moment's hesitation, she asked old Victor, "Butler Victor, now that Perrin and Wanda, these two high-ranking Celtic wizarding apprentices, are both very likely dead at Connor's hands, wouldn't you like to summon Connor?"

"No! It's not time for Connor and me to meet yet. Martina, if you don't have anything else, you should go downstairs!" This time, old Victor responded very quickly and firmly, waving his hand as he spoke.

"Um!"

Martina, who had nothing to say, nodded to old Victor and then walked down the stairs on her own, leaving the small two-story building.

"Do you think Martina is hiding something?" Three minutes after Martina left, old Victor, sitting on the sofa, picked up his teacup from the tea table, took another sip of black tea, and then, without any warning, suddenly said in a deep voice:

As soon as old Victor finished speaking, a hidden door in the wall of the room opened, and out walked Mr. Tusam, the man in red who had just argued with Martina on the first floor and suffered some losses. It seemed that Tusam had been there for some time.

"Should I say yes or no?" Tusam didn't give a clear answer to old Victor's question, but instead asked him in return:

"If you think it exists, it exists; if you think it doesn't, it doesn't!" Old Victor seemed unsurprised by Tusam's response, replying calmly.

"I think that Connor Ferguson you mentioned might have an accomplice in this city of Loen, but that accomplice shouldn't be Martina. I haven't found any evidence on Martina these past few days to prove she has any private contact with Connor Ferguson!" Tusam said very seriously.

Tusam paused for a moment, then looked coldly at old Victor and said, "Master Southgate, you're telling us to temporarily obey your orders, Butler Victor, but that doesn't mean I and my men have to follow your commands in everything. I don't want this kind of thing—investigating others and needlessly making enemies—to happen to me a second time!"
