Chapter 531 Origin of Classical Texts

"Valga, don't be in such a hurry! I haven't finished yet!" Connor took another sip of red wine and continued calmly, "I told you this Kararov is very strong and a highly skilled alchemist. Contacting you without him noticing is practically impossible with my current level. That's why I made this ring look like a spatial ring. That should lower his guard and distract him from the ring!"

"Is this a spatial ring? I've never seen a spatial ring like this before," Varga's puzzled voice came from Connor's ring again.

"Please, sweetheart, just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist, okay? That Kararov will know it's a spatial ring as soon as he sees the alchemical ring on your hand!" Connor said somewhat helplessly, dipping his fries in ketchup and putting them in his mouth. Then, while chewing his fries, Connor suddenly stopped, his expression turning serious as he whispered to the ring, "They're here!"

"Where?" Upon hearing Connor's voice, Varga in Salah's Cafe immediately became serious. She was well aware that Connor, as a psychic wizard, could detect places much farther than she could.

"Five hundred meters to the left of Salah's Cafe, there's still that balding, middle-aged, overweight man I described to you before. Remember what I told you!" After whispering to Varga, Connor picked up the latest issue of the "Rune Evening News" on the table and pretended to read it.

Two or three minutes later, a middle-aged, overweight man dressed in brown overalls, looking much like the workers at the Rune docks, walked up to the Salah Cafe. Instead of immediately entering the cafe, he stood there for about a minute, looking around before pushing open the door and going inside.

As the middle-aged man entered the café, Connor, in the Madeira restaurant, put down his newspaper, his eyes narrowing slightly. If he wasn't mistaken, a smile had appeared on the man's lips before he entered the café…

"Sir, how many are in your party?" He glanced up and down at the slightly greasy middle-aged man in overalls who hadn't found a seat or ordered a drink since entering the café, but instead was looking around. The young and pretty waitress, though a hint of disdain flashed in his eyes, still respectfully approached and asked out of courtesy, following the café's rules.

"Someone's waiting for me here!" Although the waitress's disdainful look was subtle, it was still obvious to the middle-aged man, a high-level wizard apprentice. However, the portly man smiled slightly, waved his hand dismissively, and said:

"Sir, if you haven't found your friend yet, you can sit down and order a coffee while you wait. Our Salah Cafe's Mancini is the most authentic in the entire city of Loen. You should try it; I'm sure you won't be disappointed!" The waitress, her eyes softening with disdain, patiently explained to the man as she spoke of her cafe's products.

The portly man glanced to the side of the cafe, then nodded slightly and said to the waitress, "I've found my friend, but since you say the Mancini coffee is so good, young lady, how about I get one?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the chubby uncle smiled slightly at the waitress, then walked to a corner of the cafe and sat down. Sitting opposite him was none other than Varga, disguised as Antonella and wearing the Eusebio mask.

"Hello, Miss Antonella, I am Kararov. It's a pleasure to finally meet you." Facing Varga, the middle-aged, portly man acted as if he were already familiar with her, introducing himself as soon as he sat down.

"Just state your conditions," Varga said, her tone somewhat cold and aloof compared to the overly familiar middle-aged man, Kararov. She cut to the chase without any pleasantries.

The chubby uncle didn't seem surprised by Varga's straightforwardness. He raised his eyebrows as if he wanted to say something, but before he could speak, the waitress from before came over with a steaming cup of coffee.

"Sir, your coffee is ready!" The waitress placed the coffee on the table and said to the portly man.

"Thank you!" the chubby uncle said politely, then took out a crumpled one-shilling banknote from his pocket and handed it to the waitress.

Seeing the one shilling note the man handed her, the waitress hesitated for a moment before continuing, "Sir, the price of a Mancini is two Imperial pounds!"

Hearing the waitress emphasize the two pounds, Mr. Kararov's plump face broke into a wry smile, and he said somewhat helplessly, "Young lady, I know, this is your tip!"

"Excuse me, sir!" Upon hearing it was a tip, the waitress's eyes immediately showed a hint of embarrassment. She took the money from the man's hand and said somewhat apologetically:

"It's alright, you can go now!" Mr. Kararov was very magnanimous, waving his hand to indicate that the waitress could leave.

After the waitress walked away, Kararov took a sip of his coffee and nodded in satisfaction. It seemed that the Mancini from Salah Café suited his taste perfectly.

After taking another sip of coffee, Kararov's gaze shifted to Varga, and he said slowly with a smile, "What, Miss Antonella, aren't you interested in knowing the origins of the texts?"

Upon hearing the question from the chubby middle-aged man opposite her, Varga Eusébio's masked face showed no change in expression, but her eyes betrayed her true thoughts.

Seeing this, Mr. Kararov smiled slightly, not revealing Varga's true thoughts, and then said to Varga, "You don't mind if I release a barrier, do you?"

Varga hesitated for a moment, then nodded without speaking. With permission, Mr. Kararov raised his hand slightly, and a transparent, invisible barrier enveloped him and Varga.

Having done all this, Mr. Kararov didn't waste any more words. He cleared his throat and began to speak: "The Selected Works of Pandev's Pharmacology is the masterpiece of Pandev, a master of the Cardiff School of Pharmacology in the mid-Byzantine Empire. I believe that Miss Antonella, as a pharmacist, you must have heard of the Cardiff School, right?"
