Chapter 52 Refining

Chapter 52 Refining (1)

In the evening, after locking his apartment door, Connor went to the storage room on the second floor of his apartment.

He has transformed that place into a tiny studio!

Looking at the complete set of instruments and various metal raw materials on the large black table in the studio, Connor's face showed a satisfied smile.

After purchasing raw materials from the "Mikhalovich Property Company" during the day, he didn't idle around. Instead, he went to a pawnshop and bought an alchemy furnace that had expired but hadn't been redeemed by the owner. Although the equipment was second-hand, it was very well maintained and had little wear and tear. Connor got it for only five gold pounds.

The alchemy furnace and raw materials are all in hand. Now everything is ready except for the final step: Connor can start forging the Shadow Dagger himself!

"Chip! Compare the crafting method of the Shadow Dagger in 'Reyes Alchemy' and initiate analysis and recording mode!"

"Beep! In accordance with the subject's will, analysis and recording mode has been activated!"

Seeing that the chip had started working, Connor nodded and took out an irregular piece of black metal, some reddish sand, and a green spherical crystal from the pile of raw materials on the black table.

"start!"

Connor's expression was grave as he spoke in a low voice, immediately turning on the gas stove connected to the alchemy furnace. According to the "Reyes Alchemy," because the Shadow Dagger is the lowest-grade, level-one enchanted item, its only advantage is that it can be controlled remotely with mental power. Furthermore, wounds inflicted by the Shadow Dagger under the control of a wizard's magic are extremely difficult to heal. It has no other abilities. Therefore, level-one enchanted items like this can be crafted using a regular alchemy furnace and gas stove.

To craft a Tier 2 alchemical item like the Greenwood Badge that Reyes gave to Connor, one would need a wizard-made alchemical furnace and spiritual fire!

Connor threw the black metal into the alchemy furnace and carefully used his mental power to sense the changes inside, watching the black metal gradually turn into molten gold.

Five minutes later, the molten gold in the alchemy furnace began to bubble, and Connor poured the crimson sand into the furnace.

As the golden liquid and crimson sand gradually merged, turning the golden liquid into a dark reddish-brown, Connor solemnly began chanting, "Kalsa... Ospike..."

As Connor chanted, a violent reaction occurred in the alchemy furnace. The mixture of molten gold and crimson sand evaporated rapidly. In less than ten seconds, the black and red molten gold that had reached the middle of the alchemy furnace was strangely reduced to only a thin layer at the bottom of the furnace!

"Holy crap..."

Upon seeing this, Connor immediately stopped chanting and swore. Clearly, his virginity-making attempt had failed!

"Chip, analyze the reasons for this failure!" Having calmed down, Connor asked the chip about the cause of the failure.

"Beep! According to the chip analysis, the reason for the failure of the main body refining is that the timing of the incantation was wrong. It is necessary to wait until the black gold water and the red sand are completely fused before incantation!" The chip simulated the Shadow Dagger refining process on its own and gave the answer.

"call!"

Connor exhaled a breath of stale air. Through the chip's recording mode, Connor carefully reviewed his previous operation process and, based on the chip's guidance, diligently studied the Shadow Dagger crafting method once more.

After cleaning the dried liquid from the alchemy furnace, Connor prepared to begin the second refining process!

Although Connor was somewhat disappointed by the failure of his first attempt, it was actually expected. The method for crafting the Shadow Dagger was recorded in *Reyes Alchemy*. For a seasoned alchemist, the Shadow Dagger is no challenge at all; it's just a toy! However, for a beginner, if you can successfully craft it within five attempts, congratulations! You possess considerable talent in the alchemy profession. Generally, unless you're extremely inept, with diligent study of the crafting method and summarizing your experience, you should be able to successfully craft the Shadow Dagger in about thirty attempts.

So, although Connor was disappointed after his first failure, he was not discouraged. He continued refining the first time, and with all his mental energy, he successfully passed the stages of heating the black metal into molten gold and adding the crimson sand. He then arrived at the stage where he had just failed—chanting!

Connor focused all his mental energy, intently sensing the changes in the blackish-red liquid within the alchemy furnace. As time passed, Connor, completely absorbed, discovered the opportunity to chant the incantation. Beneath the calm surface of the crimson liquid within the furnace, a shallow vortex had formed deep within.

Sensing this, Connor did not hesitate and began chanting "Kalsa...Ospike..."

As Connor chanted, this time the alchemical furnace did not evaporate as quickly and strangely as the first time. Instead, as described in "Reyes Alchemy," it began to be driven by Connor's mental power.

Connor was delighted to have passed this hurdle, but he still dared not be careless. This was only halfway through the refining process, and there were still several more challenges to overcome before he could succeed.

After manipulating the black and red liquid gold in the alchemy furnace, Connor felt the time was right and threw the green crystal on the table into the furnace. Then, Connor immediately manipulated the black and red liquid gold to envelop the green crystal.

Connor turned the gas stove to its maximum temperature, aiming to raise the temperature in the alchemy furnace to its limit to help the black and red gold liquid inside devour and absorb the green crystal.

Time passed second by second, and fine beads of sweat began to appear on Connor's forehead. The sweat formed into large beads, which slid down Connor's face and fell to the ground with a "plop". Even so, Connor still dared not wipe the sweat from his face, for fear that wiping the sweat would interrupt his state of concentration.

He is currently in the most crucial stage of refining the Shadow Dagger, as recorded in "Reyes Alchemy". As long as the black and red gold liquid is absorbed by him as quickly as possible, his first enchanted item, the Shadow Dagger, will be 80% complete. The rest of the work will not be too difficult!

A short while later, a hissing sound came from the alchemy furnace. With the appearance of this sound, the green crystal, which was wrapped in black and red gold liquid, was melting into the black and red gold liquid at a speed visible to the naked eye. In about three seconds, the green crystal completely disappeared into the black and red gold liquid.
