Chapter 507 The Unexpected Letter
Chapter 507 The Unexpected Letter
"Interesting, this is a tough nut to crack!" Connor, having regained his composure, smiled and nodded at the bald boy. However, in the bald boy's eyes, Connor's smile seemed as hateful as the smile of a demon. But the bald boy didn't have time to think about it. He felt a buzzing in his head and then everything went black again, and he fell into a coma once more.
Looking at the bald boy lying unconscious on the ground, Connor sneered. Although this guy was tough, once the drug trial was completed, the bald boy would be of no use to him. In that case, Connor was confident that his methods would make the bald boy beg him to kill him.
From his spatial ring, Connor pulled out a thick chain and tied the bald boy to the basement. Only after doing this did Connor leave the safe house he shared with Varga. He was now going back to his apartment to write a secret letter to Varga, telling her that he had found a candidate for the drug trial and that they could begin testing the flight drug.
However, when Connor returned to his apartment at 16 Land Street, he was surprised to find a secret letter from Varga in his mailbox. Although Varga did not say why, the message in the letter was very urgent, asking Connor to meet her at 31 Raphael Street, Piero Theatre, East Loen district at 7 p.m. that night.
Connor pulled his pocket watch from his pocket and glanced at it, realizing it was already 6:13 PM. There were less than fifty minutes left before the time he was supposed to meet Varga at the Piero Theatre. Despite his confusion, out of trust in Varga, Connor, who had just returned to his apartment, hurriedly left again and boarded the public carriage to the Piero Theatre.
At 6:57 PM, Connor bought a ticket and entered the Grand Theatre. At that time, there was only one play preparing for its opening performance, so Connor, with only this option, went into the drama hall. The play being performed in the drama hall was probably not very popular, as there were very few people watching. Only half of the seats in the rows below the stage were full. Connor looked around at the audience and did not find Varga. He frowned slightly but still randomly found a seat in the drama hall and sat down.
Time ticked by, and soon it was 6:15 in the theater. Connor, who still hadn't seen Varga, frowned more and more. Just as Connor began to hesitate about whether to leave, Varga, wearing a white veil, hurriedly entered the theater. She spotted Connor in the theater with a quick glance.
"Sorry Connor, I'm late!" Varga, sitting in the row behind Connor, said apologetically to him via telepathy.
"It's nothing. Why are you in such a hurry to find me? What happened?" Connor shook his head slightly and replied to Varga in a low voice. More than why Varga was late, Connor wanted to know what had happened to make Varga come to find him in such a hurry.
Upon hearing Connor's question, a bitter smile appeared on Varga's pretty face behind her veil. Instead of answering Connor's question directly, she took out a letter from her spatial ring and handed it to Varga.
Connor, still suspicious, took out the letter inside the mail and began to read its contents.
"Dear Miss Antonella, I apologize for writing to you so abruptly, but I have something urgent to discuss with you, so please forgive my intrusion. The pharmacology manual passed down from our ancestors should now be in your hands. Please don't worry, I'm not here to take back 'Selected Works of Pandev's Pharmacology'. I believe that as an excellent pharmacist, you are well aware of its value and certainly want to obtain the second half of the manual. And the second half of this book is now in my possession. I think we can have a good talk. I don't mind handing over the pharmacology manual passed down from my ancestors to you, Miss. If you are willing, we can meet in three days at the Ural Villa District."
After carefully reading through the contents of the letter, Connor's heart sank. The name Antonella mentioned in the letter was none other than the pseudonym Varga used in the hospital.
"How long can you stay here?" Connor asked Varga telepathically as he put the letter back into the envelope.
Connor knew that Varga's choice to meet at the theater instead of at her safe house meant that their time together would be short, and that Varga would have to return soon.
"Ten minutes. Old Victor wants to see me soon. He probably wants to teach me how to make a new potion so I can study it carefully!" Varga took out her pocket watch, glanced at the time, and said to Connor with a hint of helplessness:
Hearing that Varga only had ten minutes left, Connor cut to the chase and said to Varga, "If you have the Pandev's Potionology Collection with you right now, hand it over to me immediately, along with this letter. I suspect the book has been tampered with!"
Without hesitation, Margaret flipped her hand and took out the "Selected Works of Pandev Pharmacology" and handed it to Connor. Connor did not put the book directly into his spatial ring. Instead, he took out the black pouch he had used to hide the bald boy during the day and put the book and the letter that Varga had just given him into the black pouch. Finally, he put the black pouch into his spatial ring.
This black pouch was a small alchemical artifact that Connor crafted in his spare time. It wasn't particularly useful, but it could shield the energy fluctuations emitted by objects placed inside, as well as the aura of people. It was undoubtedly the best choice to deal with this book, which might be under surveillance.
"Connor, what should I do?" Varga opened her big eyes and looked at Connor, seeking his advice.
Seeing the look in Varga's eyes, Connor hesitated for a moment, then whispered to Varga, "You want the second half of this book?"
This time, Varga nodded without hesitation in response to Connor's question, and then explained to Connor telepathically, "I've already learned several of the alchemy techniques recorded in this book. They're truly amazing and have greatly improved my pharmacology. Since it's only the first half, some alchemy methods aren't fully explained. I think the remaining content should be in the second half of the book, so I think..."
