Chapter 495 Reencounter with Paredes

Chapter 495 Reencounter with Paredes

"Are you really just going to let her go like that?" Watching Martina's departing figure, Margaret, whose expression had improved somewhat, stood beside Connor and asked in a complicated tone:

"You and I both know that this incident has confirmed the relationship between Edel and the Secret Society. So, if it weren't for Martina helping us to weave a perfect explanation for Emerson's death, we would both have to leave Rune right now!" Connor analyzed calmly. He paused here, looked at Margaret with a half-smile, and said, "And you forced them to make them swear an oath under the witness of the Eye of Arbitration, and then forced them to swear another oath using the Shadow Blood Oath. With the effect of these two oaths, why aren't you reassured, Margaret?"

"It's always better to be cautious!" Margaret rolled her eyes at Connor and emphasized.

"It's getting late, Margaret. You should go back and handle the church matters. I'll deal with the signs of battle here." Glancing at the chaotic factory, Connor, with a slight headache, solemnly said to Margaret:

"Okay, be careful!" Margaret didn't object to Connor's suggestion. She gave Connor a word of advice and then hurriedly left the factory.

As soon as Margaret left, Connor began his work. Cleaning up the battle traces in the factory was a very tedious task. Unlike when he killed Mariano, when he cleaned up all the battle traces, this time Connor only had to clean up some of the battle traces in this factory. Some of the battle traces had to be left intact because he wanted to mislead Edel and old Victor. Although it seemed like the workload was reduced, the difficulty of the task had increased. So, in general, Connor needed to spend more energy and time on this.

Two hours later, it was already dark. Connor, looking somewhat tired after dealing with everything, walked out of the factory. He didn't intend to go back to his apartment, but instead planned to go to his safe house on Ramsey Street. Although Connor had done his best to weather this crisis, to be honest, he had no idea how things would turn out. So, just in case, Connor was prepared to make the safest plan.

It must be said that Connor's plan was very good. He was observing the situation from the safe house. However, things often don't go according to plan. Sure enough, just as Connor stepped out of the Zaka Textile Factory and was about to head towards Ramsay Street in the North District, he spotted a familiar figure in the darkness.

As Paredes was about to sneak into the Zaka Textile Factory under cover of darkness, he saw Connor emerge from the factory. His expression changed as well. The two men locked eyes, both seeing surprise in each other's gazes. Connor reacted quickly, a hidden glint of murderous intent flashing in his eyes. He quickly prepared to speak, intending to feign politeness with Paredes to lower his guard so he could kill him. There was no doubt that whatever Paredes wanted to do in the Zaka Textile Factory, Connor had to silence him forever.

Just as Connor was about to speak, something happened that made Connor both amused and exasperated. Perhaps the impression Connor left on Paredes last time was too terrifying, because this time, as soon as they met Connor, a look of fear appeared on Paredes' face. Without exchanging any words with Connor or hesitating for a moment, he rushed into a nearby alley, trying to get rid of Connor.

Connor watched Paredes' actions, touched his nose, and a hint of disdain appeared in his eyes. Paredes was too naive. Did he think he could get rid of him like this?

"Huff... Huff..."

Paredes was really fighting for his life. As a mid-level wizard apprentice, he was even panting heavily while running away, which shows how panicked he was and how afraid he was of Connor!

Ever since he was nearly killed by Connor, despite being rescued by old Victor, Paredes' hatred for Connor has not diminished with time; on the contrary, it has only grown stronger. Paredes has cursed Connor countless times and even sought out the art of cursing, hoping to see if he could take revenge on Connor through a curse. If it weren't for the lack of information about Connor's body, Paredes would have already cast a curse on Connor.

Although he wished he could drink Connor's blood, eat Connor's flesh, and skin Connor alive, when Connor actually appeared before him, what came to Paredes' mind was not the venomous hatred he felt for Connor, but a deep-seated fear. All the venom and fear vanished from Paredes' mind in an instant, and only one thought remained in his mind: to run away, to run as far away as possible, to forever escape the terrifying demon Connor. So in the end, Paredes listened to his heart.

After running for five blocks from the Zaka textile factory in Cairo, Paredes, feeling somewhat exhausted, finally dared to look back. Seeing the deserted streets behind him, covered in sweat and pale-faced, Paredes finally stopped his escape, exhaled a long breath, and relaxed!

"Connor Ferguson, you son of a bitch! I'll make you and your damn Ferguson family pay the price sooner or later, especially those ladies in your family! They'll pay for your bastard behavior!" He spat on the ground, and finding no trace of Connor, the fear that had vanished without a trace returned to Paredes' mind. Hatred and resentment once again consumed his head. He cursed viciously in a low voice, and as he uttered the word "ladies," a cruel and excited light shone in his dark pupils; he seemed to have already begun to imagine it.

"No, why is that bastard only coming out of the Zaka textile factory now? Where is Emerson? There must be something wrong here. I need to inform Butler Victor immediately!" Although his heart was filled with darkness, Paredes' mind cleared up and he was quite sharp. He immediately noticed the problem and headed towards the woods near the Cairo community after identifying the direction. Dozens of miles beyond the woods was the Sensi Villa where Connor had last met with old Victor.
