Chapter 475 Two Questions

"Hi, sir, do you have any change? I want to take the public carriage, but I only have large bills. Could you exchange them with me?" Just as Connor walked out of Land Street, heading towards his safe house in the North District, a stylishly dressed, heavily made-up woman suddenly approached him and asked:

Upon hearing the woman's question, Connor, who was trying to avoid the limelight, instinctively became wary. He then secretly sized up the woman who greeted him. She was about twenty years old and quite attractive. Coupled with her rather daring attire, she looked like a sex worker. Several seemingly respectable men on the street were stealing glances at her.

Connor couldn't detect anything wrong with the woman. Thinking it was just a routine repayment, he remained silent, waving to the woman to indicate he had no change, and prepared to leave again. How about this, I'll give you a shilling, and you give me ten pence in change, okay?"

The woman's persistent pestering annoyed Connor. Just as he was about to pull his hand away, he paused. He noticed the woman's fingers subtly giving him a meaningful look. Realizing this, Connor narrowed his eyes, hesitated for a moment, then pulled his hand away, took out ten pennies from his wallet, handed them to the woman, and said coldly, "One shilling!"

Having achieved her goal by taking the ten coins from Connor, the woman who had just been flirting with him immediately showed a look of disgust on her face. She took out a crumpled one-shilling banknote from her wallet and threw it into Connor's arms. Then she turned around and walked towards the bus stop across the street. After taking a step or two, she still seemed a little unsatisfied and spat hard on the ground to show her contempt for Connor.

Connor seemed completely unconcerned by the woman's disdain. He carefully placed the crumpled shilling in his pocket, then revealed a greedy smile on his face and continued walking along the road ahead.

Two hours later, Connor looked at the building he had visited several times before, raised his eyebrows, triggered the restriction, and quietly entered the safe house belonging to the Church of Rune Storm.

Although it was hard to believe, Connor couldn't help but suspect that the heavily made-up woman he'd encountered two hours earlier, who resembled a sex worker, was someone he knew very well...

Just as Connor was about to refuse the woman's request for money, a meaningful look made him change his mind. This address was the Storm Church safe house where Connor was currently located—the same safe house Margaret had brought him to several times. After discovering this trick, Connor, who was in the coffee shop, spent half an hour thinking about it, and his answer was that he decided to trust Margaret this time.

Although he decided to trust Margaret, Connor, upon entering the safe house, still carefully inspected it from the inside out for safety reasons. "What's going on now?" Connor walked up to Margaret, having no interest in playing games with her, and asked her directly in a deep voice:

Margaret rolled her eyes at Connor and walked into the inner hall of the safe house, then said to Connor in an annoyed tone, "Don't tell me you didn't consider why I asked you to kill Mariano when you were killing him!"

"But Margaret, you didn't tell me that killing him would cause this much trouble!" Connor said to Margaret, enunciating each word clearly, as he followed her into the inner hall.

"Yes, Connor, you're right, this is indeed a big problem, but this big problem isn't yours, nor mine, but someone else's!" Margaret winked at Connor and said with a meaningful smile:

"What do you mean?" Connor asked, frowning. Although it seemed that this matter wouldn't involve him and Margaret, judging from Margaret's attitude and words, Connor still wanted to figure out what had happened and what Margaret was planning!

"The Skull and Bones assassins were a cover. In reality, Eder wanted to kill me. Mariano was sent by him to kill me, so I had to strike first and take care of Mariano. Therefore, to clear myself of any involvement, I asked you, Connor, to do this for me. Afterwards, I framed someone else for it. That's the gist of it. Do you understand, Connor?" Margaret said calmly. Although her tone was indifferent, a smug look appeared on her charming face. She was clearly very satisfied with her plan.

He listened intently to every word Margaret said, then gave his collaborator a deep look before holding up two fingers and saying, "Two questions!"

Margaret smiled, nodded, and pointed to Connor, indicating that he should speak.

"First, why didn't you tell me everything about your plan and the reasons behind it from the beginning? If that's all, you know I wouldn't refuse your request to protect you, after all, I've already done this for you," Connor asked Margaret calmly.
