Chapter 430 Running away

Chapter 430 Running away

Although Margaret's blade wheel was powerful, there were simply too many Azedin snakes in the community. They surged towards Connor and Margaret like a tidal wave, completely surrounding them.

While cautiously guarding against the swarm of snakes, Margaret looked nervously at Connor, hoping he would come up with a solution. Meanwhile, in Connor's mind, the cool female voice of the auxiliary chip was counting down.

"Five...four...three...two..."

When the auxiliary chip counted to "two", Connor's expression changed. He immediately put his arm around Margaret's waist, pulled her into his embrace, and then released the Castilian protective barrier again, protecting himself and Margaret within the barrier.

The instant Connor unleashed the Castia Staff, and hundreds of Azedin snakes lunged at Connor and Margaret, a massive explosion erupted from the second level of the dungeon. A series of deafening booms followed, the explosion releasing enough light and heat to instantly corrode dozens of Azedin snakes to dust. The remaining snakes were also wounded. The second level of the dungeon was a scene of utter devastation, with blood and flesh flying everywhere. The hundreds of Azedin snakes that had just attacked Connor and Margaret, seemingly poised to annihilate them, now lay on the ground, emitting painful roars.

Looking at the scene before him, Connor's eyes were filled with pride, a result of the alchemical bomb he, Connor Ferguson, had created.

This time, Connor not only planned how to get into the underground palace, but also how to get out. He devised two plans. One was a poisonous smoke system, which would last for five hours. He and Margaret could then leave within those five hours, naturally wearing gas masks, just like they came in. Connor's five hours plan was more than enough, but things didn't go as planned. No one expected that Margaret would be tricked. If it weren't for Connor's greed and coveting of Odin's blood pool, Margaret might have really perished here today!

While rescuing Margaret was a resounding success in saving her life, it wasted several hours, completely thwarting Connor's original plan to evacuate the dungeon within five hours. Fortunately, Connor had left himself a backup plan: alchemical bombs had been placed along the way. Without these bombs, the chances of Connor and Margaret escaping the siege of hundreds of Azerid snakes would have been extremely slim. Even if they had managed to break through, the price they would have paid would have been devastating!

"How long do you intend to hold me?" Margaret said coldly in Connor's ear.

Upon hearing Margaret's words, Connor finally realized that he had been so engrossed in admiring the power of his "work" that he was still holding Margaret's soft, boneless body tightly in his arms.

"Sorry!" Connor quickly put Margaret down from his arms, gave an awkward smile, and said apologetically, "Let's take this opportunity and get going!"

Without refusing Connor's suggestion, Connor went first and Margaret followed behind, the two running at full speed. Only a few Azerid snakes attacked them along the way, but this posed no threat to Connor and Margaret. In about a minute, they reached the staircase connecting the first and second floors of the dungeon. Then, the two went down the stairs back to the first floor. Only after returning to the first floor did Connor and Margaret finally feel completely at ease. Margaret then used magic to close the staircase passage.

Under Margaret's spell, Connor returned to the surface from the underground palace. Looking at the sun high in the sky, Connor, in high spirits, couldn't help but take a deep breath. This trip to the underground palace with Margaret was truly full of twists and turns, but fortunately, they were both safe and sound when they finally made it back to the surface.

"When do you need my help?" Margaret's voice reached Connor's ears as he slowly exhaled the stale air from his chest.

Connor considered for a moment and replied, "At the earliest, it will be in a month; at the latest, I don't know when. Take your time to recover, no need to rush!"

At this point, there were only about half a month left until Varga's "one-month agreement." Connor had already decided to wait until after his conversation with Varga before making a final decision on whether to strike first and kill old Victor now. Even if he did decide to kill old Victor, he needed to find the right opportunity and consider how to handle the aftermath before doing so. These things were very important. He didn't want to end up wasting a lot of energy and resources to kill old Victor but inadvertently attracting his mentor, Reyes. That would be a complete disaster. Dealing with all these things would take a considerable amount of time. Taking action against old Victor after only a month was already considered very fast!

Margaret listened to Connor's words carefully, then nodded to indicate that she understood.

After thinking for a moment, Connor realized he didn't have much to say to Margaret anymore, so he waved goodbye and headed towards the train station in Daka Town. He was eager to return to Rune and get some rest on his small bed in his apartment. Although the trip to the underground palace had taken quite a while, it had really taken a toll on Connor's energy, leaving him exhausted.

"Connor!"

After walking about ten steps, Connor heard Margaret's voice again. Thinking she had remembered something and called him, Connor turned around without thinking. But before he could react, he felt a fragrant breeze rush into his arms, and the next second, his mouth was covered by a soft, fragrant object...

"Thank you, Connor!" Margaret whispered in Connor's ear after a passionate kiss. As soon as she finished speaking, just as she had come without any warning, she pulled away from Connor's embrace without hesitation.

Looking at Margaret's retreating figure, now just a tiny black dot in the distance, Connor subconsciously touched his lips. But after a moment, he shook his head, regained his composure, and continued on his way.
