Chapter 410 Things Have Changed

Chapter 410 Things Have Changed

"That's right!" Connor nodded and said calmly.

"May I ask who your friend is, sir...?" A fleeting glint of shrewdness flashed in the eyes of the duty manager, Falco, as he tentatively asked Connor.

Sensing Falcao's probing tone, Connor glanced at him and then said, "George Sanchez!"

"Please, sir!" Upon hearing Connor mention George's name, Falco didn't waste any words. He gave the waitress, Miss Vivian, a look to dismiss her, and then led Connor to the second floor of Duve Cafe. Connor was somewhat surprised to find that the second floor was filled with private rooms, each equipped with expensive soundproofing materials. Thanks to these materials, any shouts made by ordinary people inside the rooms would be completely inaudible outside!

However, while this soundproofing material could block shouts, it couldn't stop Connor's mental detection, given his status as a psychic wizard. Connor discovered that most of the dozen or so private rooms on the second floor were still hosting normal banquets and social gatherings; perhaps the scale was a little large, but not too outrageous. A few scattered rooms, however, were filled with things that were... well, let's just say they'd be subject to censorship...

Connor, who had been in this world for some time, was used to such things. In this society with its ever-developing economy, morality was gradually declining, and people were starting to laugh at poverty but not prostitution. What was happening in the private room was nothing. Not to mention this, Connor had seen even more exciting scenes of orgies and group sex in this world.

What puzzled Connor was why George would choose such a den of iniquity as the place for their meeting. Had he been confined by his father, Mr. Harvey, for so long that he was burning with lust and could no longer suppress it?

With these questions in mind, Connor followed the duty manager, Falco, and wandered around the private rooms on the second floor for a while before finally stopping in front of a private room that looked even more upscale than the previous ones.

"Sir, Master George is inside!" Falco whispered to Connor, pointing to the door.

Connor casually pulled two one-pound notes from his wallet and tossed them into Falcao's arms, saying nonchalantly, "One for you, and the other for that waitress from earlier!"

After saying that, Connor ignored whether Falcao understood him or not, and pushed open the door to the private room and went inside.

Connor's eyes flashed with surprise as he looked at George, who was sitting upright in a chair in the private room with his eyes closed, resting. At this moment, George seemed to sense Connor's arrival, opened his tightly closed eyes, and looked at Connor as he entered the private room.

"You've changed a lot in the few months I've been away!" Connor looked deeply at George and said with a smile:

At this moment, George seemed like a completely different person to Connor. Not only was he much more composed in temperament, completely losing his previous cynicism, but he also changed drastically in appearance. He became extremely thin, his cheeks were almost completely sunken, and he looked like he had just recovered from a serious illness.

Upon seeing Connor, George forced a smile, stood up from his chair, and gently hugged Connor, saying with a touch of bitterness, "As Emperor Raul once said, things have changed!"

Although it was quite amusing to hear such clumsy Chinese idioms from George, a typical Westerner, Connor felt no amusement whatsoever. The last time he met George was over half a year ago at Locke Villa near Green University, and George wasn't like this then. Clearly, something significant had happened to George since their last meeting, causing him to become what he is now!

On the third day after Connor returned to his apartment, he received a letter from George, who wrote that he had been released from confinement at Locke Villa and invited him to come over for a get-together. George's letter was somewhat unexpected for Connor. After all, after he had secretly sneaked into Locke Villa last time, he and George had both assumed that George would be released in two or three months at most. However, he hadn't expected that it would be more than half a year later that George was finally released from Locke Villa by his father, Mr. Harvey.

Although Connor was somewhat surprised that George had only just ended his confinement, he was absolutely certain that the handwriting on the letter was indeed George's, so he came here without any doubt.

After sitting opposite George in the private room, George poured himself and Connor each a glass of Romano Conti. The two men, each preoccupied with their own thoughts, clinked their glasses together without saying a word and then swallowed the Romano Conti in one gulp.

After finishing his drink, George looked at Connor and asked, "Connor, did you go to that place?"

Although George didn't explicitly say what "that place" meant, Connor seemed to understand perfectly. He nodded and said, "A month after we parted ways at Locke Villa, I went there, but it was deserted, without a trace!"

"Well, thank you, Connor!" George didn't seem surprised by Connor's answer. He showed no astonishment or surprise, and instead raised his glass again to Connor:

After clinking glasses with George, Connor downed his drink in one gulp, looked at George, and said in a deep voice, "If you need anything, I have plenty here, no problem. George, I'm much stronger than you think!"

Although Connor's principles have always been cautious, George is his first friend in the world. Although he doesn't know why George has become the way he is now, Connor feels that he will do everything he can to help George.

Without saying much, George raised another glass to Connor, then gazed at him for a moment before saying quietly, "Connor, I appreciate your kindness, but let's leave this matter at that."

"George, if you really make a decision, I will respect your choice!" Connor placed his glass on the table and looked at George, saying in a deep voice:

"The old man talked to me, and I've thought about it a lot. Perhaps this is just fate playing tricks on us..." George said with a wry smile.

This time, Connor raised his glass to George, genuinely admiring George's courage. If he were George, he would have fought to the death...
