Chapter 381 Contradictions

"Connor, if you dare kill my son, I'll tell the professor everything about your collaboration with Varga in researching the Spirit Spring potion!"

Under Dr. Gulsi's spell, the small paper boat, originally only the size of a palm, instantly expanded to a size large enough for her to sit in. Without the slightest hesitation, she sat in the paper boat and shouted to Connor:

Dr. Gulsi clearly saw things very clearly. She knew that as long as she lived, she would have something on Connor, and even if Ceballos fell into Connor's hands, Connor would not dare to let Ceballos make a move!

Before Connor could even finish speaking, Dr. Gulsi took out a small, light blue pill from her spatial ring and put it in her mouth. Then she activated the paper boat.

"Whoosh!"

The small paper boat transformed into a streak of light, carrying Dr. Gulsi directly through the Castia magic circle and shooting out of the villa. Just as Connor was extremely shocked and angry at Dr. Gulsi's departure, but because he was injured and had no good way to stop Dr. Gulsi from leaving, a strange scene appeared!

Just two or three meters from the villa's door, Dr. Gulsi suddenly fell off the paper boat...

"What the hell...?" Connor, utterly shocked and furious, stared blankly at the scene unfolding before him.

Before Connor could recover, Varga was also freed. Gulsi cast the swamp spell that had been entangled with her and reappeared in Connor's sight.

Connor swept his mental energy over the fallen Dr. Gulsi and found that Dr. Gulsi had no heartbeat, pulse, or any other vital signs. There was no doubt that Dr. Gulsi was now completely dead.

Although the facts were already laid bare, Connor still found it utterly unbelievable. He had gone to such great lengths, almost risking his life, to kill Dr. Gulsi, and yet he had died in such a ridiculous way? A high-ranking wizard apprentice could actually fall to his death from the enchanted object he was riding while on the run? This was absolutely unprecedented!

Connor, who had just had a fierce battle with Dr. Gulsi, clearly didn't believe Dr. Gulsi could be so foolish and incompetent. Dr. Gulsi's death was definitely suspicious...

Although he knew there was something wrong with Gulsi's death, Connor did not go up to examine Dr. Gulsi's body. Instead, he stood there quietly. He knew very well that if Gulsi died so mysteriously, and if there was a problem, then, combined with what Gulsi had said to Varga, the culprit was most likely Varga.

"well·······"

Just as Connor fell silent, Varga, who was beside him, sighed softly and then walked away from Connor toward Dr. Gulsi's remains.

After examining Dr. Gulsi's remains, Varga turned to Connor and handed him the revolver and the statue of the evil god that Dr. Gulsi had been holding.

"Connor, these two items are for you. I have other uses for the other things on Gulsi..." Varga said softly, looking into Connor's eyes.

Seeing that Varga had chosen to keep it a secret, Connor gave her a deep look, but did not take the two valuable enchanted items from Varga's hands. Without looking back, he walked straight out of the villa and disappeared into the darkness outside the manor.

Back in his apartment, leaning back on the sofa, Connor fell into deep thought. How could someone as thoughtful and suspicious as him not have seriously considered the whole matter before deciding to kill Gulsi with Varga?

In this plan to assassinate Dr. Gulsi, considering that Varga, as a pharmacist, was not good at fighting, Connor took the initiative to take on part of the operation. Although the operation was also important, what was even more important was how to handle the aftermath of Dr. Gulsi's assassination without letting the Secret Society know who did it and how to let the matter fade away. That was the most important thing in the matter.

Killing Dr. Gulsi was just the beginning of the whole affair. Connor had already made it clear to Varga when planning the operation that the cleanup was important. Varga said she would handle the cleanup, but she didn't tell Connor the specifics of how she would do it.

Although Varga's reasons for killing Dr. Gulsi were quite valid, Connor did notice something unusual in Varga's words about her wanting to kill her teacher, Gulsi. Connor sensed something amiss when Varga wouldn't tell him how she planned to handle the aftermath. However, despite noticing the anomaly, he didn't press Varga for answers. After all, if Varga wanted to tell him, she would; if she didn't want to, she wouldn't tell him even if he asked.

Connor ultimately chose to trust and believe in Varga. After all, it could be said that without Varga's help, Connor Ferguson would not have achieved his current status as a high-level wizard apprentice!

Perhaps out of gratitude for Varga's efforts, Connor agreed without hesitation to join her in the assassination attempt on Gulsi, risking a life on the run and being hunted by the Secret Society. However, to Connor's utter disappointment, after he clearly demonstrated that he realized Varga's reason for wanting him to join forces to kill Gulsi was not as simple as she had claimed, Varga actually tried to fob him off with two enchanted items!

This is something Connor absolutely cannot accept. If Margaret did this to him, Connor could accept it; he could treat it all as a deal. But if Varga did it, then I'm sorry, Connor sees it as a betrayal!

Walking from the apartment lobby to the quiet room on the second floor, Connor sat on the floor, took out a bottle of potion from his spatial ring, poured it into his mouth, and began to silently circulate the Abyss Arcane in his soul to heal his injuries.

His innate spell, Shadow Chains, is closely related to himself, so after being shattered by that energy bullet, he also suffered an energy backlash. If this energy backlash is treated promptly and effectively, and he takes the right medicine, Connor will be fine after resting for a while!
