Chapter 370: Expressing an Attitude
Chapter 370: Expressing an Attitude
"You lost!"
With a trace of blood still at the corner of his mouth, Connor looked at Martina, who had just recovered from the dizziness of his mental shock, and said in a deep voice:
At this moment, his innate spell, Shadow Chains, was only a short distance from Martina's throat. With just a thought, Connor could gently thrust the Shadow Chains forward, and the tall, aloof Miss Martina would instantly perish in this deserted valley.
With her life in Connor's hands, Martina's cold face was filled with resentment, but she still stopped what she was doing, took off the two jade rings, the combined enchanted items, from her wrists, and put them back into her spatial ring.
Seeing that Martina had given up resisting, Connor also withdrew the shadow chains he had released and turned to walk out of the valley.
Back in his apartment, Connor discovered that Accardo, who had been unconscious in his quiet room, was nowhere to be found. Connor showed no surprise or anger; he had already anticipated Accardo's departure when he decided to have his duel with Martina in the countryside.
The only uncertainty now is whether Alucard left on his own, or whether, as he suspected, someone broke into his apartment and took Alucard away after Martina lured him away!
"clatter!"
He gently tapped the wall of the quiet room, and a hidden compartment popped out. He took out the crystal ball from the compartment, placed his palm on the crystal ball, and immersed his mental energy into it.
Jumping the scene in the crystal to after he left, Connor could clearly see in the crystal that after he left the apartment, Alucard, who had collapsed on the floor of the quiet room like a dead dog, actually opened his eyes, looked around the environment of the quiet room, and then quickly left his apartment and disappeared into the dark night.
"This is interesting!"
He placed the crystal ball back into the hidden compartment, which immediately shrank back into the wall of the quiet room. A faint, amused smile appeared on Connor's lips. He had really underestimated this guy named Alucard. He had actually broken the restriction he had placed on him, and judging from the speed at which he left, it was clear that Alucard had planned this all along.
"It's good that they're gone...it's good that they're gone!" Connor shrugged indifferently. The reason he risked everything for Alucard and Martina wasn't really to get old Victor to come and take them from him, as he claimed, nor was it to really extract anything from Alucard. Connor's actions were more about expressing his attitude and his anger at the Secret Society for sending people to monitor him!
From the time he captured Alucard to when Martina came to find him, less than an hour had passed. Martina's eagerness to see him clearly showed that Alucard was extremely important to the Secret Society. In addition, the numerous restrictions within Alucard's divine sea proved that Alucard was a hot potato.
Although Connor had always wanted to figure out what the Secret Society was up to, Alucard was clearly not a suitable opportunity. So when Martina provoked him to a duel, Connor, who had already expressed his anger, did not refuse but instead went along with Martina's offer and let Alucard go.

"I'm so sorry, Miss Martina, I made a mistake!" From the Connor Apartments in a residential building in the North District of Rune.
The escaped green-robed wizard, Alucard, bowed deeply to Martina before him, filled with shame, and apologized:
Martina, who was initially furious and bewildered by Alucard's failure, couldn't help but feel a sense of helplessness when she thought about how she herself had also been defeated by Connor. She waved for Alucard to get up and said, "Never mind. We didn't expect that Connor Ferguson had already successfully broken through to the advanced wizard apprentice level, and that his mental strength had reached such a level. Although your concealment technique was excellent, under the suppression of his absolute mental strength, there was no doubt he would find you..."
Hearing Martina defend him, Accardo's shame lessened considerably, and he straightened his posture again beside Martina.
"Tell me everything you've learned from staking out his apartment these past few days, how Connor found out, and how he treated you—every word for word!" Martina said after a moment's thought.
Upon hearing Martina's question, a bitter expression appeared on the green-robed wizard Alucard's face. He said with a wry smile, "I've been staking out his apartment for twenty-three days, and apart from today, I've basically gained nothing. Because you warned me that he's an alchemist, and his house is very likely equipped with mechanisms that sense mental energy, I haven't used my mental energy to probe his apartment these past few days to avoid alerting him!"
"Although I didn't use my mental energy to probe his house, there's been no movement from his apartment for the past few days. I think Connor hasn't been home for a while. And today, Connor attacked me from behind while my attention was completely focused on the apartment. If he came out of the apartment, even if his cultivation level and mental energy are higher than mine, I wouldn't have failed to detect him. His mental attack was just too bizarre. After being attacked, I felt a splitting headache, and all my magical and mental energy was out of control. I was completely dizzy and disoriented. Just as I was recovering a little, I was attacked a second time by him. This time, I completely passed out and was captured by him..."
Even at the end, a hint of fear could still be seen on Accardo's face, clearly indicating that Connor's bizarre mental impact had left a psychological scar on him.
When Alucard mentioned Connor's mental attack, Martina's eyes flashed with lingering fear. The mental attack that Connor used to turn the tide in the match left her with a memory that was too unwilling and too painful.
Martina waved to Accard, signaling that he could leave, and sat alone in the room, recalling everything that had happened…
After discovering that Accardo had lost contact, Martina immediately located Connor's apartment using Accardo's location data.
Upon discovering that Alucard had entered Connor's apartment, Martina immediately sensed something was wrong. The Secret Society's mission for Alucard was to monitor Connor, not to infiltrate his apartment. She knew Alucard's personality very well; he would never disobey the Secret Society's orders. Therefore, the most likely explanation for his presence in Connor's apartment was that Connor had discovered Alucard and taken him into his apartment.
