Chapter 368 Taking Action
When Connor saw that Martina seemed to think he was playing hard to get and trying to seduce her, he was momentarily stunned. The woman in front of him named Martina was tall and had a perfect figure, with all the right curves in the right places. Coupled with her cold and beautiful face, she naturally aroused men's desire to conquer. In terms of looks alone, Martina was slightly better than Varga. Among all the women Connor had ever seen, only Margaret had surpassed her.
Although Martina certainly seemed to attract a lot of attention, that didn't mean Connor Ferguson was one of those "bees." Connor, expressionless, continued, "Who are you?"
Seeing that Connor's expression and tone were completely genuine, Martina seemed to realize that Connor might truly not recognize her. She frowned and asked Connor, "You really don't know me? Didn't old Victor mention me to you?"
Connor shook his head slightly without saying anything, his gaze fixed on Martina.
"My name is Martina Conti!" Martina paused for a moment, then continued to Connor, "Augudo Conti is my uncle!"
Hearing Martina so deliberately emphasize that her surname was Conte and that her uncle was named Ogudo Conte, Connor couldn't help but feel a sense of doubt. Was the surname Conte very famous? Was Martina's uncle, Ogudo Conte, very famous?
"Assist chip, search..." Just as Connor was puzzled and about to seek help from the assist chip, he suddenly remembered something. In the information he had learned about the secret society, the leader of the secret society did not know his real name, but was known as the Duke. The second person under the Duke was his teacher, "Professor" Reyes. And the third person in the secret society was Conti, the second-level wizard who was rumored to have been killed by the Storm Church's punisher, Jovich, during the Rune turmoil.
"Martina Conte, Ogudo Conte... they both have the surname Conte, could they be?" Connor suddenly realized.
Seeing Connor's expression, Martina naturally understood that Connor had figured out her identity. She nodded at Connor with some pride, indicating that Connor was right.
"So, what brings you here?" Having ascertained Martina's identity, and out of respect for Conte, the third-ranking figure in the secret society who was rumored to have been killed by the God of Punishment, Connor's tone towards Martina finally softened, no longer as cold and indifferent as before!
"Where did you hide Accard?" Martina, true to her character, went straight to the point, without any pleasantries with Connor.
"Are you questioning me?" Connor narrowed his eyes and retorted, sensing Martina's unfriendly tone.
"Connor Ferguson, this is a piece of advice for you: don't cause trouble!" Martina retorted sharply to the domineering Connor, showing no weakness whatsoever!
"If you came here to tell me this, then you can leave now..." Seeing Martina's attitude, Connor was too lazy to waste any more words with her. He simply got up and pretended to leave, kicking the ball back to Martina's feet.
"So arrogant just because you've become a senior wizard apprentice, Connor Ferguson! Don't think that just because you're Uncle Reyes's student you can be so willful and unruly! Hand over Alucard, and I'll leave immediately and not stay here any longer, otherwise..." Martina's words were full of sarcasm. Although she didn't say what would happen otherwise, the meaning behind her words was already very clear!
"I won't hand the person over to you. If you want the person, have that old bastard Victor come to me for it!" Connor sneered in response to Martina's threat, his tone surprisingly calm.
"Whether you hand over the person or not is not up to you!" Martina said coldly, brushing a few stray strands of hair behind her ear. At the same time, a trace of magical power belonging to a high-level wizard apprentice appeared on her tall figure.
"Want to make a move?" A playful smile appeared on his lips as Connor straightened his black robes and said to Martina, "Sure! The wizarding world is all about the strong preying on the weak. If you can beat me, why not hand her over to you?"
The last time Connor met Martina at the Bruges tavern, disguised as a grey-robed man, he couldn't sense any magical energy emanating from her and thus couldn't discern her cultivation level. Initially, Connor hadn't paid much attention to this detail, but now, thinking back, the fact that Martina Conti could conceal her true cultivation so deeply even in front of him, a high-level wizard apprentice, suggested she possessed a very powerful concealment artifact!
"Let's go!" Having said that, Martina was too lazy to waste any more words with Connor and walked straight out of the apartment.
Following Martina out of her apartment, Connor and Martina drove a carriage towards the outskirts of Rune. Both of them knew very well that their fight could not happen in Connor's apartment, and they should try to avoid it in the city of Rune as well. Otherwise, the moment they started fighting, they would likely be surrounded by the Arbitrators of the Church of Storms!
Upon arriving in the outskirts of Rune, Connor and Martina, working together seamlessly, found a deserted valley.
"Connor Ferguson, I'm giving you one last chance. If you hand over the person... you bastard!" After standing facing each other in the valley, Martina, perhaps overconfident in her own strength, or perhaps underestimating Connor, who had just become a high-level wizard apprentice, began her nonsense as the two stood facing each other in the valley, ready to fight. However, Connor had no intention of being polite to her and directly unleashed a mental shock.
Although Martina was a bit of a chatterbox, her strength really impressed Connor. Considering Martina's identity, Connor didn't go all out with this mental attack, but he still used about 60-70% of his strength. However, Martina's reaction really surprised him. After being hit by his mental attack, Martina only lost her senses briefly before immediately returning to normal!
Connor was not discouraged at all that his sneak attack had failed. As an alchemist, he naturally took out the Castilian Staff from his spatial ring and held it in his hand long ago when facing Martina!
