Chapter 277 Termination Agreement

Chapter 277 Termination Agreement

"Okay!" Upon seeing Mr. De Sciglio, who seemed to be willing to give him a helping hand, Connor, who intended to keep a low profile, couldn't help but smile wryly to himself, but he still had to put on a show of glad acceptance.

Just as Connor was on his way to see Mr. De Sciglio with the attendant, he suddenly stopped, as if he had remembered something, and turned to George, saying casually, "Oh, right, George, I have a bet. Could you help me with this ten thousand gold pounds from Master Holding?"

After speaking, Connor smiled and bowed to the crowd who had been noisily witnessing Holding's bet, saying gratefully, "Thank you all very much for witnessing my wager with Master Holding..."

Holding, who had just recovered from his daze after Connor's actions, turned green with rage, feeling as if he'd been slapped countless times. He opened his mouth, wanting to say something harsh to save face, but no sound came out. However, how could Connor possibly let someone like him get away with this?

After thanking all the "kind-hearted witnesses," Connor looked at Holding with a half-smile and politely said, "Thank you very much, Young Master Holding. This ten thousand gold pounds will help me pay off the loan I owe Sanchez Bank for my apartment. Young Master Holding, you are exactly as rumored, very good at helping others!"

Connor's taunt turned Holding's once handsome face a deep purplish-red. He glared venomously at Connor, finally managing to utter, "Connor Ferguson, I'll remember you!"

Hearing Holding say something like that after all that time, Connor couldn't help but chuckle. He smiled, shook his head, and then ignored Holding, turning to follow the attendant sent by De Sciglio to find De Sciglio.

"Young Master Holding, with so many witnesses here! How are you going to pay back the ten thousand gold pounds you lost in the bet?" After Connor turned to leave, George, as if afraid that Holding would slip away, quickly blocked his way.

Upon seeing George come to collect the debt, Holding's anger was about to burst forth, and he raised his hand and slapped him hard.

"Snap"

Seeing Holding's slap, everyone was surprised that he was so angry that he wanted to fight George. However, to everyone's great astonishment, George was completely unharmed after Holding's slap. Instead, Sophia in Holding's arms let out a miserable cry. On her heavily made-up face, covered with a thick layer of powder, was a clear imprint of Holding's bright handprint!

"You filthy bastard, you lowlife..." Helpless against Connor and George, Holding could only vent all his anger on Sophia. In his eyes, Sophia was the one who caused him to lose both money and face, leaving him in such a miserable state.

··········

Connor was completely oblivious to Holding's disheveled state; all his attention was focused on the middle-aged man before him, with gray hair, leaning on a heavy cane, and standing ramrod straight.

"Connor, you and George are good friends, so I'll call you Connor. You don't mind, do you?" George's father, Mr. Harvey Sanchez, the head of the Sanchez family, smiled and spoke slowly.

After being summoned by De Sciglio, Connor's uncle seemed to really like him. He introduced Connor to several important figures in the political and business circles of Rune, including the gifts Connor gave him. Although Connor was somewhat unconvinced, he outwardly appeared flattered and politely made himself known to these bigwigs. After doing all this, just as Connor was about to find an excuse to leave, someone he didn't expect approached him. This person was none other than Mr. Harvey, who was standing in front of Connor at this moment.

"Although George has some spoiled brat tendencies, he's not a bad person at heart. As his father, I'm very happy for him to have made a good friend like you, Connor!" Mr. Harvey said softly, gazing at the night outside the window.

From the moment Mr. Harvey first approached him, and from the moment he spoke these words, Connor's mind had been racing. Although Mr. Harvey's tone was incredibly calm, Connor knew perfectly well that someone of Mr. Harvey's status speaking to him like this was definitely not as simple as it seemed. After quickly considering his options, Connor gave Mr. Harvey a slight bow and said, "Uncle, you flatter me. I have learned a great deal from George, and it is my honor to be his friend!"

Faced with Mr. Harvey, an old man who had been through the ups and downs of the business world his whole life, Connor still felt that the safest approach was to remain unchanged and play dumb.

Mr. Harvey, a shrewd old fox in the business world, could not help but see through Connor's polite and courteous words, which were merely a pretense. Seeing this, he did not get angry, but smiled slightly. One of his attendants immediately handed him a document respectfully.

"If I remember correctly, this is the first time I've met you, Connor. As your elder, I should give you a gift!" Mr. Harvey said, handing the document to Connor.

When Connor saw that Mr. Harvey wanted to give him a gift, he was stunned for a moment and hesitated slightly before accepting the document that Mr. Harvey handed him. After quickly flipping through it, Connor's expression changed several times, and he was amazed by Mr. Harvey's generosity!

The document Mr. Harvey gave him was a termination agreement, cancelling the loan contract between Connor and Sanchez Bank for the apartment he purchased. This loan contract was a five-year contract, and Connor was supposed to repay Sanchez Bank nearly 12,000 gold pounds, including principal and interest. However, after Connor sold some of his alchemical trinkets at the Mönchengladbach Club and earned 1,700 gold pounds, he added another 300 gold pounds to make up 2,000 gold pounds to repay part of the loan. Now, this means that Connor still owes Sanchez 10,000 gold pounds.

The termination agreement in Connor's hand clearly bore the name of Mr. Harvey Sanchez and the official seal of Sanchez Bank. Once Connor signed it, the agreement would become effective and protected by the laws of the Kaman Empire. This meant that Connor would no longer have to repay the remaining 10,000 gold pounds he owed Sanchez Bank for the apartment purchase…
