Chapter 267 Meeting with Gundoğan

Chapter 267 Meeting with Gundoğan

It was a middle-aged man in a suit, somewhat balding, who took the place of the old rich woman whose face was very ugly after Connor won.

Although the middle-aged man's movements were very discreet, Connor could still sense that the man's attention was constantly on him. Initially, Connor was somewhat surprised by the man's spying, but after playing a game of cards together and witnessing the man's superb card-playing skills, and after observing with his mental power... the unique logo of the Matthias Casino on the man's suit shirt, Connor couldn't help but chuckle. Good heavens, he'd only won a few hundred gold pounds, and someone from the casino was already watching him. Really...

After shaking his head with a smile, Connor deliberately lost over a hundred gold pounds, then pretended to be somewhat bored and left the private room. Just as he guessed, not long after he opened the room, the bald middle-aged man also left.

"Hey!" Connor greeted a middle-aged man who came out of the corridor, while throwing him a chip worth about one hundred gold pounds.

When Connor called out to him, the bald middle-aged man was obviously surprised, but he instinctively caught the chip Connor threw to him.

"Sir, here are your chips, please take them!" The middle-aged man was quite shrewd. Although he was a little surprised, he quickly regained his composure and handed the chips that Connor had thrown to him back to Connor.

However, Connor ignored the chips and looked at the middle-aged man with a half-smile, saying, "Someone introduced me to Mr. Guendouzi. I think you can help me pass on this message!"

When Connor uttered the name "Guendouzi," he could clearly see the middle-aged man's pupils contract, indicating that he knew what the name Guendouzi represented.

"Sir, I don't know what you're talking about. Please take your chips!" The middle-aged bald man spoke politely, but his tone was extremely cold.

Connor didn't seem to mind the coldness in the middle-aged man's words, and calmly replied, "I was introduced by Saul. He has a big deal he wants to do with you. Since we've come this far, don't give me that nonsense about not knowing what I'm talking about. Tell Guendouzi what I'm saying, and these chips are yours!"

Whether it was Connor's words or the chips worth hundreds of gold pounds that had an effect, the middle-aged bald man holding the chips remained silent for a moment before whispering to Connor, "I can deliver the message, but I can't guarantee he'll see you!"

"Very good, you've made a wise decision!" Connor smiled and gently patted the middle-aged man's shoulder.

The bald, middle-aged man quickly left with the chips, and returned to Connor's side about ten minutes later. He whispered to Connor again, "You're lucky. Lord Guendouzi is willing to see you. Come with me!"

After speaking, the bald middle-aged man led Connor to a relatively secluded private room in the casino. There was no one else in the room except for a thin old man smoking a cigar, who was sitting quietly on the sofa.

The bald, middle-aged man who had led Connor to the private room bowed deeply to the old man before leaving, leaving Connor alone with the gaunt old man in the room.

"You were looking for me?" The gaunt old man took a deep drag on his cigar, exhaled a cloud of smoke, and squinted at Connor. His voice was somewhat muffled, as if he had phlegm stuck in his throat.

"I have a sum of Persis silver coins worth over ten thousand Imperial Gold Pounds that I want to exchange for Imperial Gold Pounds!" Connor glanced at the old smoker's waist. As an alchemist, his experience and the keen intuition of a psychic wizard allowed him to sense that there was an energy fluctuation unique to anti-psychic probes of enchanted items emanating from that location.

"Since you've found this place, you should know I don't do business with new customers!" A glint flashed in the gaunt old man's eyes as he took another puff of his cigar before slowly speaking to Connor.

"That's why I asked Saul to introduce me. Besides, aren't all regular customers started as new customers?" Connor said with a smile.

After Connor finished speaking, the gaunt old man made no comment, simply continuing to calmly smoke his cigar until it was completely finished. Only then did he say in a deep voice, "What you said makes a lot of sense. I'll take your job. I don't want to know where your silver dollars came from, but I want forty percent of the money!"

"No problem, I can give you the silver dollars tomorrow, but I insist on receiving the gold pounds immediately!" Connor said in a deep voice.

"Young man, you need to understand that XQ takes time..." the gaunt old man said quietly.

Connor remained silent, his expression resolute. He was determined to get what he wanted. He could exchange ten thousand gold pounds worth of Persis silver coins for six thousand Imperial gold pounds in banknotes, but cash was the only option. He didn't have time to wait for the Matthias Casino to slowly launder the money…

"Alright, I can make an exception for you this time. Tomorrow morning at ten o'clock, take your silver dollar to the basement of the Kepa Building in the North District. Someone will be waiting for you there!" Sensing Connor's firm resolve, the gaunt old man remained silent for a moment before speaking:

"Thank you!" After saying that, Connor turned around, pushed open the door, and left the private room.

About a minute after Connor left, a very hidden door in the private room was pushed open, and a refined figure that Connor never expected walked into the room.

"Is this man a wizard?" The gaunt old man seemed unsurprised by the man's arrival, casually remarking as he put another cigar into his mouth.

"I can't tell!" The middle-aged man who walked in through the hidden door said calmly. Although his temples were somewhat gray, which made people feel that he was quite old, his handsome face was very well maintained, with very few wrinkles on his forehead or around his eyes.

If Connor were still in the private room at this moment and saw this person appear, he would be very surprised. This middle-aged man was none other than Emery, the wealthy businessman who was the original owner of the alchemy furnace in Connor's hand.

"Ten thousand gold pounds is quite a lot. Should we make a move on him?" A chilling glint flashed in the gaunt old man's eyes as he spoke in a sinister tone.

Emery pondered for a moment, then shook his head and said, "The Church of Storms is conducting a massive manhunt. It's not wise to cause trouble now. Earning four thousand gold pounds is already quite good, and besides, I don't think this person is simple. Taking action against him might not be a good idea!"
