Chapter 263 The Unexpected George

Chapter 263 The Unexpected George

The following morning, Connor, dressed neatly, left his apartment to visit George at Sanchez Bank, hoping to get a better solution from him. He had decided that if he didn't get any good news from George, he would go to Meazza Estate to sell some of the alchemical items he had crafted and see if he could raise two thousand gold pounds. In short, Connor would not take the risk without a suitable and safe way to exchange gold pounds.

"Hello sir, Manager George is on leave today. Please come back another day!" After arriving at the Sanchez Bank headquarters, Connor went directly to the bank's front desk and asked her to inform them. However, to Connor's surprise, the graceful and beautiful receptionist respectfully said something that caught him off guard.

Upon hearing that George wasn't there, Connor frowned slightly, hesitated for a moment, and then asked the receptionist, "Will George be back at work tomorrow?"

A hint of embarrassment appeared on the receptionist's refined face as she explained to Connor, "Sir, I'm just a bank receptionist. I have no access to Manager George's schedule!"

Although he was a little disappointed to arrive without seeing George Connor, he knew the receptionist was telling the truth. Connor nodded slightly, then took out a ten-pound note from his wallet and handed it to the receptionist, saying, "My name is Connor Ferguson, and I'm George's classmate at Green University. I need to speak with him. If he comes to work tomorrow, please let him know!"

The receptionist looked at the ten-pound note Connor handed her, a clear glint of longing in her eyes. However, she ultimately shook her head and said respectfully, "Mr. Connor, if Manager George comes to work tomorrow, I will inform him according to bank procedures. But please take this money back. According to bank regulations, bank employees are not allowed to accept tips from customers!"

Upon hearing that Sanchez Bank had such a rule, Connor paused for a moment, but still put the money he had handed over back into his wallet, muttered "Thank you for your help" in a low voice, and walked out of the Sanchez Bank headquarters under the watchful gaze of the receptionist's beautiful eyes.

Walking down the street, feeling the cool breeze, Connor knew very well that if he wanted, he could easily get the contact information of the receptionist he had just met, and then he would have a wonderful night. But Connor had no interest in that now. The time for Desciglio to arrive in Rune was getting closer every day, and he needed to get the two thousand gold pounds he was short as soon as possible.

As Connor pondered how to resolve this minor trouble, he returned to his apartment at 16 Land Street in the East District of Rune. To his surprise, he spotted a carriage he recognized very well on Land Street. It was George's carriage; as a close friend of George, Connor had ridden in that carriage many times, and he was absolutely certain he wouldn't mistake it.

Just as Connor was surprised to discover this, a man wearing a gray trench coat and a baseball cap stepped down from the carriage and walked towards Connor.

Although the man's gray trench coat concealed his figure and his low-brimmed baseball cap obscured his face, Connor could immediately recognize him from their past close interactions. The man approaching him was none other than his friend George. Connor didn't know why George was dressed like this to see him, but he reacted quickly. He calmly unlocked the door, entered the apartment, and then left the door slightly ajar.

Three minutes after Connor entered the apartment, George opened the slightly ajar door and entered Connor's apartment.

Glancing at the exhaustion on George's face, Connor gave him a big hug, then picked up a bottle of his favorite Romano Conti from the dining table and smiled at George, saying, "You're in luck, kid. This is my last bottle of Romano Conti."

Looking at the enthusiastic Connor and the Romano Conti on the table, the usually cheerful and outgoing George forced a smile at Connor and sat down on the sofa.

Connor poured himself and George a glass of Romanée-Conti. After handing the glass to George, he sat down on the sofa opposite him, swirling the wine in his glass to let it breathe, and squinted at George, saying, "What trouble have you run into?"

Connor knew very well that the way George had come to him and his current preoccupied appearance meant that his visit was not simply a gathering between friends. He must have something to discuss with him, and without resolving his issue, even the finest wine would be useless to George in his current state.

Upon hearing Connor's straightforward approach, George, as if venting his anger, handed Connor the glass containing the Concorde, and without even sobering up, tilted his head back and drank the precious Concorde down in one gulp!

Drinking Conrad without sobering up can easily make you drunk, and George's face instantly flushed. Fueled by the alcohol, George stared at Connor and, panting, asked, "Connor, do you know anything about wizards?"

Upon hearing George's question, Connor was startled. He hesitated for a moment, then nodded heavily at George without saying anything.

Seeing Connor nod, George smiled wryly and said to Connor, "Olson has a talent for wizardry!"

Upon hearing this, Connor instantly realized that Olson was George's father, Mr. Harvey's, illegitimate son, and that Olson himself was quite ambitious, wanting to compete with George, the first in line to the throne, for the Sanchez family fortune left by Mr. Harvey. However, with Connor's help, George had cleverly outmaneuvered Olson, causing him to suffer a major setback. George's father, Mr. Harvey, the head of the Sanchez family, had then placed Olson under house arrest.

But no one expected Olson to have such good fortune, possessing a wizarding talent that is rare among thousands. No wonder George looks so worried now after receiving this news.

"Tell me in detail!" After thinking for a moment, Connor earnestly asked George:

George came to see Connor in this state today because he wanted Connor to help him think of a solution. When Connor asked him, he naturally told Connor everything he had learned without any reservations!
