Chapter 247 Secrets

"Margaret, are you really sure you want to do this?" Just as Connor was thinking about how to craft an alchemical item that could house the undead that would be affected by his new spell "Undead Entanglement," in an apartment in the eastern suburbs of Rune, the charming young shopkeeper Leonie looked worriedly at Margaret, who was standing in front of her with a serious expression and was ready to go.

At this moment, Margaret's stunningly beautiful face was completely devoid of the lively and playful demeanor she displayed in front of Connor, replaced by a solemn expression. Hearing Leonie's question, she nodded with a wry smile: "This professor from the Secret Society is truly terrifying. There's no other way; I can only go to Dr. Gulsey's private hospital myself!"

"Margaret, I think I need to remind you that if you're not mistaken, Dr. Gulsi's private hospital is a crucial point in the Secret Society's entire operation. Given the Society's strength, their security there would undoubtedly be extremely tight. Your current abilities are likely to yield no results, and you might even alert them!" Leonie calmly analyzed.

Listening to Leonie's analysis, Margaret showed no surprise. She sighed and said, "I knew that too, but I have no choice now. After the vengeful spirit incident in the northern countryside, I focused on the Ruiz Steel Factory. I'm pretty sure that the Ruiz Steel Factory is one of the locations where the secret society processes that mysterious item!"

"The reason why vengeful spirits have appeared in the rural areas of the northern district is very likely due to the leak of that mysterious item. I originally wanted to investigate further, but I couldn't find a single clue. I've already been to the Ruiz Steel Factory, but the secret society reacted quickly, and several nearby villages have already been cleaned up, rendering them completely worthless!"

"The Secret Society should have several other locations in Rune, like the Ruiz Steel Plant, responsible for processing and producing those kinds of things, but we have absolutely no idea where they are. The Secret Society is just too secretive!" Margaret exclaimed sincerely.

"How accurate is your inside information about Dr. Gulsi's private hospital?" Listening to Margaret's account, Leonie nodded heavily, then thought for a moment before continuing to ask:

"This informant was left to me by my sister Elena. It's a very deep one, a carefully planted network within the Metropolitan Police Department by the Church. Before she left, Elena told me that this informant could be trusted!" After a moment of silence, Margaret said in a deep voice:

"I've never met this person, but he told me that the accounts of most private hospitals aren't very clean; there's always some embezzlement or even laundry fraud. But Dr. Gulsi's private hospital's accounts are very clean; you can't find a single problem!"

"After noticing this situation, this informant personally went to Dr. Gulsi's private hospital for a checkup. He discovered that although the hospital seemed to have a simple structure, it was actually very complex, as if something was hidden inside. Because he wasn't a wizard, he couldn't continue the investigation. However, after returning to the Metropolitan Police Department, he used his authority to investigate the records of Gulsi's private hospital, only to find that the records had been tampered with and switched. And the switch happened on the third day after the secret society planned the major upheaval!"

"Isn't Connor Ferguson a member of the Secret Society? Margaret, should we try to find out something through him?" Leonie suggested after hearing Margaret's introduction.

Upon hearing Connor's name, a hint of tenderness flickered in Margaret's eyes. She gently shook her head and said, "While I'm certain Connor is a member of the Secret Society, he's likely an external member they recruited because they value his future status as an earl..."

Leonie gave Margaret a deep look and said softly, "Connor Ferguson practices advanced meditation techniques of the mental element. Although the Ferguson family has produced wizards in the past, they are fire wizards!"

Leonie's suggestion immediately silenced Margaret. After a long while, Margaret spoke with a somewhat somber expression, "I don't want to involve him, and I don't want to use him!"

"He's a member of the secret society, and you're a member of the church. The two of you are destined for a bad end. Besides, I think Connor Ferguson is cold-hearted, scheming, and ruthless. He's definitely not the right person for you!" Leonie sighed as she held Margaret's hand and advised her.

"I understand the reasoning, but... I really don't want to hurt him. If I use him as a breakthrough point, I can definitely get some information, but if the Secret Society finds out that he leaked it, his fate will be very... given the Secret Society's cruel methods," Margaret said softly, a hint of reluctance on her pretty face.

Seeing that Margaret was truly moved, Leonie could only helplessly hold Margaret's delicate hand tightly with concern.

"I'll handle everything at Dr. Gulsi's private hospital. The alchemical materials Connor requested have already been delivered to Furnace Rune; they're in the Alpha warehouse in the North District. Just tell Connor to contact you!" Margaret added as she concluded.

"Don't worry, I'll tell Connor. Margaret, you be careful too!" Leonie nodded in response.

Having explained everything to Leonie, Margaret forced a smile at her, then turned and disappeared into the dark night. The direction she went was none other than Dr. Gulsi's private hospital!

Under the cover of darkness, Margaret's figure swiftly moved among the magnificent high-rises of the East District of Rune. As she traveled, Margaret pondered. There were two main reasons why she was personally going to investigate Dr. Gulsi's private hospital. First, although the network of connections and intelligence that Elena had given her was powerful, it contained very few wizards with cultivation. Among the few remaining wizards, Margaret thought that only her own stealth ability was superior, making her the most suitable to go quietly. After all, this was not a direct assault, but an intelligence gathering operation, and stealth was the primary factor!

The second reason was that, after fighting the Secret Society for so long, she increasingly felt the organization's terror and brutality, as well as its pervasive infiltration of the church...
