Chapter 239 The Secrets of Gold Bars

Sensing the admiration in Margaret's eyes, a hint of pride flashed in Connor's eyes. He clapped his hands lightly, and a metal plate used for experimenting with magical artifacts immediately popped out from the floor of the hall.

Margaret glanced at the metal plate, her beautiful eyes flashing. Without the slightest hesitation, she swung the crimson cross sword in her slender hand, and four or five crimson light slashes struck the metal plate.

After Margaret finished speaking, Connor and she exchanged a smile. The original cross sword was a typical enchanted item used by body-refining wizards like Scarface. Connor's face showed a look of being both amused and exasperated. He hadn't expected that his original intention of keeping his promise would unexpectedly result in sending away a hot potato. Fortunately, he hadn't been tempted by greed and kept the gold bars in his spatial ring, otherwise he would have been in real trouble.

"Are you sure this batch of gold bars is really the same batch that Baron Surrey lost?" Composing himself, Connor asked Margaret seriously.

Seeing that Connor was questioning her, Margaret rolled her eyes at him and said with some dissatisfaction, "After the theft of Baron Sari's treasury six months ago, the wizards from the Metropolitan Police Department and the arbitrators from our Storm Church all went out to find those gold bars. Now, although the gold bar markings in the spatial ring have been erased, the weight and appearance of these gold bars are exactly the same as the gold bars that Baron Sari told the church about the stolen gold bars. "Scarface couldn't possibly break through the magic circle and steal the gold inside by himself, so Scarface was just a small fry in the theft of the vault. By the way, what was stolen from Baron Surrey's vault wasn't gold bars worth two hundred thousand pounds, but gold bars worth fifty pounds!" Margaret hesitated for a moment before telling Connor a secret about the gold bars!
