Chapter 222 Threatening Compromise

"Okay, I promise I'll give it a try!" Margaret pondered for a moment and gave Connor an affirmative answer.

Upon hearing that Margaret had agreed to his plan, Connor finally smiled. His plan required Margaret's help. Even if everything went smoothly, the magic stone bomb had severely injured Scarface, and Connor alone could not kill Scarface. If he couldn't kill Scarface, things would really be troublesome!

Seeing Scarface's demeanor, Connor's eyes narrowed subconsciously, while Margaret beside him clenched her fists tightly.

"I'm already doing you the biggest favor by not interfering with your mining. Eighty percent of the magic stones mined will go to me, one-tenth each for the two of you. How about that? Pretty fair, right?" Holding a cross-shaped sword, the scarred man blatantly threatened.

Hearing Scarface's threat, Connor took a deep breath, stepped forward to shield Margaret with his body, and said in a deep voice, "Our agreement to let you join our plan to mine magic stones is already the biggest concession we can make. Forgive my bluntness, but if you're planning to get something for nothing, then there's no need to talk. Let's fight!"

Seeing Connor's defiant stance, Scarface sneered, "A war? You two intermediate wizard apprentices don't think you're capable of fighting me just because you ambushed me last time. If that's what you think, you're sorely mistaken!"

"I'm arresting someone, what are you two doing?" Scarface asked, looking at Margaret and Connor after a moment's thought.

"The two of us found a magic stone mine, and we even found an alchemist to refine the mined magic stone ore into usable magic stones!" Connor said in a deep voice without the slightest hesitation.

Upon hearing Connor's explanation, Scarface's expression slowly returned to normal. He withdrew the oppressive aura he had exerted on Connor and Margaret, and said in a deep voice, "Alright, I can agree to your request. Now, you should take me to see the magic stone mine!"

"No, I can only tell you after you've captured everyone and brought them back!" As Connor expected, Scarface asked to see the magic stone mine, but Connor refused without the slightest hesitation!

Connor's refusal clearly ignited a flicker of anger on Scarface's face, but for some reason, he didn't vent his rage. He glared at Connor for a moment, then said menacingly, "One week! I'll bring him back in a week. You'd better not try anything funny then!"

Faced with Scarface's undisguised and fierce threat, Connor remained unfazed, calmly stating, "It's a deal. Return with your men in a week, and I'll hand over the location of the magic stone mine. "Hmph! Do you need to tell me this?" Scarface said with some dissatisfaction.

"Then we'll take our leave now, see you in a week!" With everything settled, Connor and Margaret exchanged a glance and then left the manor where Scarface was.

Back in the rented room, Connor poured himself a glass of red wine and said to Margaret with amusement, "See? I told you so. That scarred guy never intended to cooperate with us. He just wanted to trick us into revealing the location of the magic stone mine so he could keep it all for himself!"

Margaret glanced at Connor, but instead of refuting him, she poured herself a glass of red wine, downed it in one gulp, and said to Connor, "It's in your hands!"

Hearing Margaret's words, Connor chuckled and said seriously, "Margaret, we've been through so much together, I still trust you completely. I can take you to see the magic stone mine tomorrow."

Feeling Connor's sincere attitude, Margaret didn't dwell on the matter and asked, "What are your plans for the next step?"
