Chapter 216 The Vanished Averova!
Chapter 216 The Vanished Averova!
Connor sat on the sofa in the carriage, closing his eyes to rest, the clanging and clattering of the steam train filling his ears. Margaret, sitting on the sofa opposite Connor, didn't have the same patience and was watching the scenery outside the window with great interest.
After a brief rest in Rune, Connor and Margaret set off for Tunguska City, both of them now disguised with new appearances.
"Connor, you said the magic stone mine was found from Snake Eyes. Isn't Snake Eyes a member of the Benfica Secret Order? Is it possible that the Benfica Secret Order might have gotten involved in the magic stone mine matter?" Margaret asked, seemingly worried, as she looked at the blood-red sunset outside the window.
"I encountered members of the Benficamites!" Upon hearing Margaret's question, Connor opened his eyes and said calmly:
"Huh?" Upon hearing Connor's words, Margaret was so shocked that she stopped looking at the scenery outside the window and turned to look at Connor.
"I met Snake Eyes' junior sister in Tunguska City; her name is Avilova. But contrary to what you might think, Snake Eyes didn't tell the Benfica Secret Order he found the magic stone mine. His junior sister found Tunguska City from some things Snake Eyes left behind. Before coming to Tunguska City, she didn't tell the Benfica Secret Order, and she was unaware of my existence. So, to prevent others from knowing that Snake Eyes had found the magic stone mine, she destroyed the things Snake Eyes left behind!" Connor said calmly.
"How do you know so much?" Margaret frowned slightly and asked curiously.
"It's simple. I captured Averova alive and performed a soul search on her!" Connor's tone remained calm, as if he were casually discussing what to have for dinner.
Margaret gave Connor a deep look, then said nothing, pretending to turn her head back to look at the scenery outside the car window.
At 7 p.m., Connor and Margaret's train finally arrived in Tunguska. Ten minutes later, they arrived at Connor's rented apartment. As soon as they entered, Connor's expression changed instantly. He couldn't sense Averova's presence in the apartment anymore!
The next second, Connor burst into the room where he had imprisoned Averova. Averova, who should have been lying quietly on the bed, was nowhere to be seen; only the necklace Connor had worn around Averova's neck remained on the bed…
The cooked duck had flown away, and a surge of anger welled up in Connor's heart. Margaret, who was with Connor at that moment, also noticed Connor's anger and frowned slightly, saying, "Are you in trouble?"
"Avirova is missing!" After hesitating for a moment, Connor decided to tell Margaret the reason.
"Connor, you didn't get rid of her?" Hearing Connor's reason, Margaret's face turned very ugly, and she said with some dissatisfaction. She knew very well that Avilova's sudden disappearance could cause further turmoil in the matter of the magic stone mine! Perhaps then she and the Benficamites, the organization behind Snake Eyes, would get involved. The allure of a magic stone mine was simply too great, enough to attract any dark wizarding organization!
Connor snorted and began examining the alchemical traps he had set up in the rented house. Avilova was a living person; it was impossible for her to have disappeared without a trace!
A moment later, after thoroughly checking all the mechanisms, Connor, his face dark, retrieved a hexagonal crystal from a very hidden spot in the rented room. He cast a spell on the crystal, and it quickly emitted a faint blue light. Seeing the light appear, Connor channeled his spiritual power into the crystal.
After seeing what had happened in the rented apartment during his absence in the crystal, Connor angrily crushed the hexagonal crystal into powder, then turned to Margaret and said in a deep voice, "You wait here, I'm going out to bring her back!"
After saying that, Connor turned around and walked out of the rental house with a dark face, but he was stopped by Margaret before he could take a few steps.
"What are you trying to do?" Connor asked, suppressing his anger as he looked at Margaret blocking his way.
"I don't want to do anything, but I need to understand what happened!" Margaret said, unfazed by Connor's angry explanation. Her tone was incredibly calm, but the meaning behind her words was unwavering.
"Before returning to Rune, I sealed away all of Avilova's magic and spiritual power. Not only that, but to be on the safe side, I also knocked her unconscious. But this woman, I don't know what method she used, actually woke up after I left and left on her own!" Connor said somewhat frustratedly, his words filled with incomprehension. Clearly, he couldn't understand what method Margaret had used to do this!
"Can you find that woman if you go out now?" Margaret asked after listening attentively to Connor's explanation.
"Although she removed the restraining necklace I used to bind her, I placed a restriction on her. I can sense that she is still in Tunguska City. Now, if I want, I can end her life at any time!" Connor stretched out a hand, clenched it into a fist, and said coldly:
"I'll go with you!" Margaret hesitated for a moment before deciding.
"What are you coming with me for?" Connor asked, somewhat puzzled. He was now a little confused about Margaret's current behavior.
"Just in case, I have a bad feeling about this!" Margaret glanced at Connor and said, seemingly worried.
Although he couldn't understand Margaret's reasons, Connor didn't care anymore and took Margaret straight to the direction marked Avilova.
Connor's brows were furrowed the whole way. The reason he hadn't eliminated Avilova and instead kept her alive now seemed to be due to greed. After capturing Avilova alive that day, Connor searched her soul and found out how Avilova had discovered the traces of the magic stone mine and that Avilova hadn't told the Benfica Secret Order about the magic stone mine.
Furthermore, they discovered a secret about Averova: she came from a family of wizards within the Benfica Order, and her family had practiced a meditation method called Mansakara for generations. Female wizards could cultivate a secret technique called Mansakara no Ooh, which they could condense within their own spiritual sea. Once condensed, female wizards could unleash a spell similar to Connor's mental shock called Mansakara Scream, much like a psychic wizard!
