Chapter 21 Emperor Raul (Part 1)

Seeking help from the Storm Church and the Rune Police Department was something Connor immediately ruled out; he would absolutely not do that unless absolutely necessary! Putting aside the fact that he was a time traveler and could easily be used as a guinea pig if discovered, the lives of Rebecca and Vidal would also be a troublesome matter if things got serious.

As for the two suggestions—seeking Professor Reyes's help and trying to remove the green light spot after becoming a junior apprentice in a week—Connor had given them serious consideration. Although Professor Reyes had always shown him goodwill and even given him a magical item like the Sun Badge, the green light spot was of great importance, and the fewer people who knew about it, the better. Connor's plan was that a week wasn't a long time, but it wasn't short either. "Connor, have you heard?" At Green University, during the break, George walked up to Connor, who was sitting in the first row, looking all mysterious.

"What did you hear?" Connor shrugged.

"Fabinho suffered a sudden heart attack at home three days ago and died before he could even be taken to the hospital! Tsk tsk, Fabinho was at least one of the top ten richest people in Rune City. I can't believe he's gone like this. Just last month I saw him at Mr. Jones' private club with two young girls..." George said with great interest to Connor.

What was said in jest was taken seriously by the listener. Upon hearing the news of Fabinho's sudden death from George's mouth, Connor's heart tightened, and his eyes narrowed involuntarily.

What nonsense about a sudden heart attack! It was clearly Vidal and Rebecca who murdered Fabinho. Now Conor can only hope that Vidal and Rebecca do a clean and neat job so that no one can find any clues. Otherwise, if the police and the church follow the trail, things will get really bad.

Connor smiled and shook his head at his good friend's curses. George's full name was George Sanchez. Unlike Connor Ferguson, he had a different interest in history. The reason George came to Green University, a century-old institution renowned in the Carmen Empire, to study history was entirely because George's father, banker Harvey Sanchez, wanted his heir to broaden and accumulate connections so that he could better inherit and develop the family's banking business in the future.

George fulfilled his father's requirements and expectations very well, and he was very popular at Green University. However, as a student, George's academic performance became very poor.

"Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!..."

Upon hearing this voice, George's expression changed. He whispered to Connor, "Wait for me after class," and then quickly turned and left, sitting in a secluded corner at the back of the classroom.

After the bronze bell of Green University rang nine times, a thin, stern-looking old man in a black robe and glasses walked into the classroom.

Standing on the podium, Professor Ferdinand adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, glanced at the thirty-odd students seated in their seats, cleared his throat, and began to speak:

"In this lesson, we will begin by learning about the famous Raul Reforms of our Kaman Empire three hundred years ago, and about Emperor Raul the Great, the greatest emperor in the history of the Kaman Empire!"

"Three hundred years ago, at the beginning of the Fourth Era where we are now, the Kaman Empire was still under the rule of the Florentino Dynasty. This was the darkest period of the great Kaman Empire. The Odin barbarians on the northern Seksen Plain had not yet formed a nation and were still in a tribal state. Whenever a natural disaster broke out on the Seksen Plain, the barbarians would plunder the north of the empire, taking women, livestock, minerals, food, and in short, they would take away all the wealth and resources they saw."

"And in the stormy seas to the south, pirates are not content with merely plundering merchant ships at sea; they also raid the wealthy cities along the southern coast in large fleets!"

"These were serious external contradictions for the Florentino dynasty, while the internal contradictions within the dynasty were equally acute!"

"In the countryside, land annexation is becoming increasingly serious, and free people are forced to sell themselves into slavery to the nobles in order to reduce exorbitant taxes. "If I had to describe the Kaman Empire during that period in one word, I think the phrase 'a storm is brewing'—as Emperor Raul once said—would be most fitting!"

Connor Ferguson was quite interested in Professor Ferdinand's story, and even took notes on some key points. However, when he heard the phrase "the storm is brewing" solemnly uttered by the little white old man in front of him, Zhang Tongming was somewhat confused!
