Chapter 187 Preconceived Mistakes
Chapter 187 Preconceived Mistakes
"And where is your elderly mother now?" Perhaps Connor's performance was too deceptive, for Dr. Doucoure continued to ask without suspicion:
Seeing that Doucoure was gradually falling into the trap, Connor sneered inwardly, wiped away the tears from the corners of his eyes, and said in a feigned pitiful tone, "My elderly mother is bedridden at home now, Dr. Doucoure. Could you please come to my house with me? My house isn't far from here, it's in the nearby Anfield neighborhood. Dr. Doucoure, could you please come to my house?"
"Anfield neighborhood? It's three streets from here, not far indeed. And there's no one around right now, so I'll go with you!" The kind-looking Dr. Doucouré stroked his chin, thought for a moment, and then agreed to Connor's request.
"Thank you so much, Dr. Doucoure!"
Watching Dr. Doucouré sling his medicine kit over his shoulder and walk out of the clinic with him, Connor felt a surge of secret joy. He had been completely unaware of the situation and had actually regarded Dr. Doucouré's clinic as some kind of den of thieves, even planting a time bomb outside as a backup plan in case he got trapped inside. But now it seemed that he had worried for nothing.
With a thought, Connor silently stopped the timer on the bomb in the trash can. Now that Dr. Doucouré had come out of his lair, his chances of taking him down had greatly increased once they arrived at their destination.
"Your house is quite big!" They quickly reached the three streets, and Dr. Doucouré, looking at the large house that Connor was opening in front of him, asked with some surprise:
"My old man left it behind!" Connor muttered, having come this far, he was no longer afraid of Doucoure, the duck that was already in his mouth, flying away.
"Click!"
With a crisp metallic clang, the trap door Connor had prepared opened. Connor stood to one side of the door and gestured to Doucoure, who, though still somewhat surprised and muttering about why the house was so big, went inside anyway.
As soon as Doucoure entered the house he had set up, Connor immediately revealed his "fangs." With a thought, the door closed by itself, and at the same time, countless patterns appeared on the floor of the room!
Even if Doucoure was stupid, he was shocked and realized the danger. He frantically took a revolver from the medicine box, but before he could fire, he was hit by Connor's mental attack and collapsed to the floor without uttering a sound!
Dookure collapsed onto the floor, a Castilian staff clutched behind him, a silver pendant hanging around his neck. Fully armed Connor's eyes widened in disbelief. After carefully examining Dookure and confirming he was truly unconscious, Connor gave a self-deprecating smile and stored his own enchanted items into his spatial ring.
Upon entering Doucoure's clinic, Connor did not detect any magical fluctuations from the seemingly honest and kind-hearted doctor. However, based on the information he received from Margaret, he had a preconceived notion that Doucoure was very good at hiding his abilities. But now it seemed that there was something wrong with Doucoure being able to get his hands on a gun, but he was not a wizard!
A hand landed on Doucoure's head, and Connor discovered that the unfortunate fellow's mind had been tampered with and restricted. However, these restrictions were clearly no match for Connor, a mental wizard. After casting a soul-capturing spell, Connor successfully obtained what he wanted from Doucoure's mind.
Dookure's real name is indeed Dookure, and he is a medical enthusiast. His expertise in fire therapy is indeed, as he claims, learned from the New World—these are all correct. The real problem lies with the person who taught Dookure the fire therapy. This person had Dookure call him Mr. Salah. Mr. Salah taught Dookure the fire therapy, and as Dookure became increasingly captivated by it, he told him that there were even more advanced methods, and to obtain these advanced methods, he needed to do something for them.
And the task he was to help them with was to secretly acquire sulfur under the clinic's name! In Doucoure's memory, this Mr. Salah would come to the clinic every ten days or so to collect the sulfur that Doucoure had acquired, and he would come without any warning.
After carefully reading Doucoure's memories, Connor confirmed one thing: the Mr. Salah who taught Doucoure the fire therapy method must have been connected with the Celta Cult. The reason was that the fire therapy method he taught Doucoure contained many phrases such as "The great Celta tells us... The Celta who wields fire reveals to us." In Doucoure's memories, he was very curious about these phrases, but he didn't know what they meant.
Having ended the soul-capturing spell, Connor looked at Dr. Doucoure, who was still unconscious, and sighed. It seemed he would have to keep Doucoure alive to lure out Salah.
Connor placed his hand back on Doucoure's head, cleared away all the details of his memories about himself, and then quietly put him back in his clinic.
Connor did not leave, but continued to lie in ambush around the clinic. According to his recollection of Doucoure's memories, the last time Mr. Salah came to Doucoure to collect sulfur was eleven days ago. In other words, if nothing unexpected happened, Mr. Salah would reappear at Doucoure's clinic in a few days to take away the sulfur that Doucoure had collected over the past few days.
Connor, who was lying in ambush in the two-story building around the clinic, felt a little disappointed. He had originally hoped to test his newly crafted Castilian Staff in a battle with Dookure, but now it seemed he would have to experiment on his own.
Thinking of this, Connor took out the Castilian Staff from his spatial ring, then slammed his palm down on the staff, and a dark blue barrier instantly appeared.
After looking around at the defensive barrier of the Castia Staff, Connor pulled out a revolver and fired repeatedly at the dark blue barrier.
"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Six silver bullets shot out from the revolver's muzzle, tearing through the air and hitting the same spot precisely within the dark blue barrier.
Surprisingly, the barrier, despite being attacked by the six anti-magic bullets, didn't even show a ripple; it simply deflected all six bullets...
