Chapter 137 Ms. Lena's Senior

Abidal nodded, indicating that he had nothing more to say, and Lena and Eder immediately got up to take their leave.

Watching the two figures disappear into the distance, Abidal's face revealed a half-smile.

Lena and Edel left the room without exchanging any words. They went straight to a small building in the center of the manor where people were constantly coming and going. As Lena walked back into the building, the church staff working inside, regardless of age, gender, or rank, all bowed deeply to Lena, not daring to look directly at her face, as a sign of respect.

Ignoring the greetings from everyone, Lena went straight back to her office. But just as she sat down in her chair and picked up a document from the table to read, a pair of warm hands placed on her shoulders and gently massaged them.

Feeling fingers on her shoulder, Lena's expression changed drastically. However, before she could react, a gentle voice reached her ears: "Abidal is an old fox too. You shouldn't get too involved in this matter!"

Hearing this voice, Lena's expression calmed down, and she slowly said, "Senior, you really have a lot of courage. You dare to show up here all alone at this time. Aren't you afraid that I might suddenly change my mind and hand you over to Abidal?"

Addressed as "senior" by Lena, the man chuckled softly, stopping his shoulder massage. His hand gently stroked Lena's smooth blonde hair as he said calmly, "Decades have passed, and you're still as witty as ever, junior. You should understand my personality; since I dared to show up here, I'm confident I can leave safely!"

If Connor were to appear at this moment and see this mysterious man, whose tone was full of confidence and even a bit arrogant, he would probably swallow his tongue in disbelief... This mysterious man was none other than his mentor—Reyes!

Upon hearing Reyes's words, Lena's eyes showed a hint of surprise. She hesitated for a moment, then turned to look at Reyes and said, "Senior, have you broken through to become a level three wizard?"

"A level three wizard? No, no, no, I've been stuck at the level two wizard for so many years, and I've only just gotten close to it. I still have a long way to go before I can become a level three wizard!" Reyes shook his head with a wry smile.

Seeing that Reyes denied breaking through to become a level three wizard, Lena didn't ask any further questions. After a moment of contemplation, she said to Reyes, "Senior, I've already given that document to Abidal!"

"Very good! I believe Abidal has already sent a messenger back to headquarters to inquire. I'm rather curious about that old fox's expression when he learns that the three hundred tons of gunpowder used to blow up Storm Cathedral were intended by the Church to be secretly transferred to the East Hoy Company for a new round of aggression, and were only temporarily stored in the Storm Cathedral's vault!" Reyes smiled, seemingly with a hint of longing.

"Senior, this time you wasted a huge weapon by having your inside man detonate three hundred tons of gunpowder to save those rabble!" Lena said jokingly.

"There's no such thing as 'besieging Wei to rescue Zhao' here. Everything is going according to my plan. Even if Abidal launched a cleanup operation last night, there were only a dozen or so apprentices there. Let him eat if he wants!" Reyes said nonchalantly as he sat down on the sofa next to Lena.

"Oh? In that case, senior's methods are truly ingenious!" Lena's eyes gleamed, and she couldn't help but exclaim in admiration.

"It's just a petty trick. Any of those Divine Punishers are no slouch either. They also used the same tactic of feigning an attack while secretly advancing. The Divine Punisher Jovich, who is stationed in the New World, should have arrived in Rune three days ago!" Reyes walked to the office window, pulled back the curtains, and looked at a villa in the distance, saying in a low voice. That villa was where Abidal had just held a meeting.

Upon hearing the name Jovic, Ms. Lena's expression changed. She seemed to understand exactly what those three words meant. Before she could say anything more, Reyes drew the curtains again, turned back, waved, and chuckled, teasingly saying, "At this point, to paraphrase Emperor Raul, there's probably a big problem, and panicking won't help. However... I've been living in seclusion in Rune for years, making thorough preparations for this moment. How could I let Jovic become a variable?"

"Conte, Bisping, and some people from the Secret Society are already in place. Now it's just a matter of seeing if Jovic will give me a surprise, or if Conte will surprise Abidal!" Reyes said casually. "I'm here to tell you that you've fulfilled our agreement and can stop now. I'll let you know if I need anything."

After speaking, Reyes's figure gradually became transparent. A few breaths later, Reyes, who appeared before Ms. Lena, inexplicably turned into a pile of shredded paper...

Having witnessed everything, Ms. Lena flicked her sleeve, and the scraps of paper instantly appeared in her hand. After carefully examining them, a look of horror appeared in Lena's eyes, and she murmured, "I never thought Reyes would actually succeed in this experiment..."

After searching the small safe house for over an hour, Connor still couldn't find the reason that sent chills down his spine.

Although I can't find the reason, it feels incredibly real!

However, just as Connor was hesitating about whether to escape the safe house, a familiar knocking sounded on the safe house's bronze door.

That was the same method Connor had just used to open the door. Hearing the knock, Connor's expression shifted. Although he didn't know who was knocking, since they knew how to knock, they were probably from the Secret Society!

With a final knock, the bronze door opened silently, and a petite, graceful figure entered the safe house.

"Varga?" Connor exclaimed in delight.

"Connor, you're here too!" Upon seeing Connor's face inside the house, an expression of disbelief appeared on Varga's exquisite face.

Without much talk, a somewhat excited Connor pulled Varga into his arms. Varga offered a token resistance for a few moments, then blushed and nestled into Connor's embrace.
