Miss Audrey turned and left the deck, while the middle-aged wizard she called "Uncle Ham" scrutinized Connor. Feeling the wizard's invisible pressure and sharp gaze, Connor, with his head down, narrowed his eyes and tightened his grip on his suitcase. He was prepared to throw the suitcase away the moment the wizard made a move…
He may not be able to beat them, but sitting idly by and waiting to be slaughtered is definitely not in Connor's nature!
Seemingly sensing Connor's thoughts, "Uncle Ham" chuckled disdainfully and transmitted his voice to Connor, "I don't care who you are, but don't let me see you near Miss Audrey again. Now you can leave!"
The sudden telepathic message brought a sense of relief to Connor, who turned and left without saying a word.
Not far along, Connor heard a "bang" as if a small boat had entered the water, followed by the "toot-toot-toot" of the boat leaving. Although he was somewhat surprised as to why Audrey and her security personnel would leave the Ivanka luxury cruise ship in such a way, Connor didn't have time to think about it. His immediate priority was to get to the emergency storage room on the second floor and retrieve the small boat from there.
They arrived at the warehouse on the second floor without any trouble, but when Connor found the small boat, a look of anger suddenly flashed in his eyes.
The five small boats in the warehouse on the second floor had all been damaged and were no longer usable!
Before Connor could think it through, his mental energy sensed a familiar voice entering the warehouse.
"Connor?" Margaret, who had burst into the warehouse, gasped upon seeing Connor. However, when her gaze fell upon the small boat, her eyes turned icy. "What are you doing?"
"Idiot!" Seeing that Margaret seemed to have misunderstood that she had destroyed the boats, Connor couldn't help but scold her in a low voice, "Margaret, use your brain! Did I come here to leave in a small boat, or to destroy it?"
Margaret pondered for a moment, perhaps finding some merit in Connor's words. Her icy expression softened considerably, and she asked, "What's going on now?"
Connor glanced around the warehouse and said in a low voice, "Let's go! Let's check out the first floor first!"
Margaret and Connor arrived at the warehouse on the first floor, but like the warehouse on the second floor, the small boats here, intended for use in emergency situations, had been destroyed and were no longer usable.
"Connor, what's going on?" The strange situation was causing Margaret's patience to run out.
Connor glanced at Margaret and said with a half-smile, "What's going on? As you can see, we're being watched. Come to my room!"
After returning to his room with a bewildered Margaret, the first thing Connor did upon entering was to take out four fist-sized crystal beads from his spatial ring and place them evenly in the corners of his room.
Watching Connor's movements silently, Margaret didn't speak until Connor had placed all four crystal beads. "You've placed the sensing beads now. Shouldn't you tell me what exactly happened? Why did the small boat in the third-floor warehouse disappear, while the small boats in the second and first-floor warehouses were all damaged? What do you mean by being targeted?"
Listening to Margaret bombarding him with questions like a curious child, an annoyed Connor couldn't help but silently mutter "FUCK!" to himself.
After a moment's thought, Connor explained, "The thing is, I guessed you were going to slip away tonight, so I planned to get there first. As for the small boat, it was obviously sabotaged. And the fact that the small boat was sabotaged at this time speaks volumes, doesn't it?"
Margaret glared at Connor and said, somewhat exasperated, "Connor, you were absolutely right!"
"This isn't the time to talk about this!" Seeing that Margaret still hadn't grasped the seriousness of the situation, Connor frowned, waved his hand, and continued, "I suspect the small boat incident was aimed at you and me. We might already be being watched?"
Upon hearing Connor's mention of this, Margaret glanced at the four sensory crystal balls displayed in the room and said thoughtfully, "You mean to say that we're being watched by Snake Eyes, that high-ranking wizard apprentice from the Benfica Order?"
Connor nodded heavily, but just as he was about to say something, there was a knock on his door.
"Da da da!"
The knocking was very soft, but Connor and Margaret's expressions changed drastically upon hearing it. Although neither of them had unleashed their spiritual power, with their abilities, the person knocking should have been detected before even knocking. However, neither Connor nor Margaret had clearly noticed this individual…
Connor and Margaret exchanged a glance and a look, then both stood up on guard. Connor took a deep breath, fastened the violet ring to his hand, and slowly opened the door.
Somewhat surprisingly, there was no one outside the room, and the entire corridor was empty. The waiters who should have been standing in the corridor to provide services had also disappeared. Only a letter lying on the tiles by the room door could prove that Connor and Margaret were not hallucinating at the same time.
After glancing around the corridor twice to make sure no one was there, Connor picked up the letter from the floor and closed the door.
Seeing Connor close the door, holding a letter in his hand, Margaret, who had been standing by him ready to intervene, breathed a sigh of relief and whispered to Connor, "Didn't see anyone?"
Connor nodded, and then, in front of Margaret, removed the ink from the letter and opened the mysterious letter.
"I've been following Enrique's trail for half a year now, and you, a mid-level apprentice and a junior apprentice, took him down without a word. You should appease my anger!"
"We'll disembark tomorrow at San Jose Island. The Newcastle Brewery on the island will be waiting for you two! Don't try to hide like rats, or you'll experience the wrath of a senior apprentice!"
The letter's owner did not leave a name, only a small snake depicted with remarkable realism.
After reading the letter, Connor couldn't help but smile bitterly. He had realized this when he discovered the small boat had been deliberately damaged, but he still held onto a sliver of hope. Now, this letter and the small snake at the end of the letter undoubtedly shattered that hope.
