Wizard Earl

Chapter 1128 Decision

Sitting in his chair, Hummels squinted, lost in thought for a long while, until the setting sun cast its warm rays through the intercom and onto him. Only then did his idea begin to take shape…

Hummels first waved his hand, setting up a barrier in the room. Then, he reached down to his waist with his right hand and a palm-sized card appeared in his hand. The card was inlaid with several pigeon-egg-sized sapphires, was exquisitely designed, and engraved with some kind of rune.

Looking at the exquisite card in his hand, Hummels's expression became complicated for some reason. After a minute of silence, he gently tapped the card with his right index finger. As soon as he did so, the runes on the card immediately emitted a faint white light.

Three seconds later, a deep voice came from the exquisite card.

"Is there anything I can help you with?"

Hummels didn't mince words with the owner of that deep voice, directly asking the question he had already prepared: "Do you know what Reyes wants?"

Faced with Reyes's question, the mysterious entity on the other end of the exquisite card fell silent. After a dozen seconds, just as Hummels was becoming slightly impatient, it finally spoke in a low voice: "Do you think that madman Reyes will tell me what he's planning?"

As soon as the words left his mouth, Hummels frowned slightly, clearly not satisfied with the other party's statement. However, he didn't show his displeasure and instead asked a different question: "Who do you have in Frosinone?"

Upon hearing Hummels's words, the mysterious entity on the other end of the card fell silent. Seeing this, Hummels's brows furrowed even deeper. After a moment's hesitation, he carefully explained, "You should understand that at this time, it's impossible for me to target you..."

After speaking, Hummels waited quietly. He received a reply from the other end of the card. His explanation had already put him under considerable political risk, and he could not reveal any more information.

The mysterious entity on the other end of the card didn't keep Hummels waiting long before speaking again: "Adolf isn't far from Frosinone!"

"Just him alone?" Hummels asked, somewhat disappointed.

"How much more do you want?" the mysterious entity on the other end of the card said calmly.

"Alright, I need you to do me a favor!" Hummels gritted his teeth and said with difficulty:

Although Hummels only asked for a favor without specifying what it was, the mysterious being seemed to understand his meaning. After a few seconds of silence, it asked Hummels, "Have you made your choice?"

"That's right!" Hummels, having made his choice, leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes, and said firmly:

"Alright!" After receiving Hummels' confirmation, the mysterious entity on the other end of the card also agreed:

Hummels' conversation with this mysterious being ended there. Although neither side revealed their intentions or methods, everyone knew what was to come...

Hummels carefully placed the card back into his spatial ring. Then, sitting in the chair in the room, he shook his head and sighed, looking both helpless and somewhat dejected. If anyone else were in the room at this moment, they would find it hard to believe that the middle-aged man sitting in the chair was the powerful, influential, and authoritative Cardinal Hummels of the Storm Church!

"Sister Elena, are you really not going to see Connor?" In a cabin near Mensaka Estate on the outskirts of Frosinone, Margaret couldn't help but ask the icy woman before her.

After using the potion Margaret brought, Elena's injuries healed quickly. Although she was not fully recovered, it did not affect her mobility, allowing her to protect herself.

With her safety guaranteed, Elena naturally wouldn't stoop to hiding in the filthy, disgusting environment of the Kompany neighborhood anymore. In fact, if she hadn't realized it, no one would have thought that she, as a cardinal of the church, would hide in a place like Kompany. With her safety greatly assured, Elena would never condescend to hide in that damned red brick house.

For a woman as beautiful and of such status as her, staying in such a place was practically a crime. Every minute, every second there was unbearable for Elena. So, with the help of the magic potion, Elena, now capable of protecting herself, immediately left the Kompany community.

What Margaret admired most was her sister Elena's incredible audacity. She had chosen a building less than a kilometer from Mensaka Manor as her new hiding place. Keep in mind, not only were members of the Secret Society searching for her, but even some members of the Storm Church were likely looking for her with ill intent…

Although Mensaka Manor had been attacked by Reyes, most of the Storm Church's facilities inside the manor had been destroyed, and most of the Storm Church's institutions in the manor had been evacuated from Mensaka Manor and moved to other places.

However, some members of the Church of Storms still remain in Mensaka Manor, and among them, there might be someone who recognizes Elena. If Elena is recognized now, her situation will be extremely dangerous, and she could very well be attacked and killed!

However, as the saying goes, the most dangerous place is the safest place. Margaret thought that no one would have thought that Elena, whom everyone was looking for, would be hiding near Mensaka Manor. At least, Margaret herself would never have imagined it.

Upon hearing Margaret's question, Elena waved her hand and said firmly, "Margaret, I know you want to facilitate the cooperation between me and Connor Ferguson, but there's no need for it. After Conte impersonating Jovic, it's hard for me to trust anyone now, especially someone who is Reyes's student..."
