Chapter 1081 The Sudden Death of Philo

"Thank you!" the refined middle-aged man said with a slight smile.

"What do you need me to do next?" the mysterious entity possessing the coachman asked in a hoarse voice.

"You don't need to do anything. Ilsank thinks that by giving Elena a Frost Staff, he can make Elena oppose me. He's being far too arrogant..." As he finished speaking, the middle-aged man remained calm, but his eyes revealed a confident arrogance.

Sensing the middle-aged man's confidence, the mysterious being slowly spoke, "If you have any schemes against your student, you'd better act quickly. His strength is growing rapidly, and he has already entered the vision of the Storm Church's higher-ups. If you let him grow wildly like this, there's no guarantee that he won't become a weapon the Storm Church uses against you."

Upon hearing the other party's warning, the refined middle-aged man suppressed his smile, and a complex look appeared in his eyes.

Seeing that the middle-aged man remained silent, the mysterious entity possessing the driver continued, "I really don't understand what you're trying to do. Even if you're trying to cast a long line to catch a big fish, now's the time for you to start pulling in your net and reaping the rewards. If you drag it out any longer, the fish in your net will not only break free, but they'll also turn on you!"

"Some things, even knowing you'll regret them in the future, you still have to do them now..." Faced with the mysterious entity's renewed warning, the middle-aged man, realizing he could no longer remain silent, spoke softly:

"Hmph! You'd better watch yourself!"

The mysterious being, whose origins were unknown, was clearly very dissatisfied with the middle-aged man's answer. He snorted coldly, uttered a single sentence, and then ended his possession, leaving the unfortunate rickshaw driver.

A few seconds later, the rickshaw driver returned to normal, but he had no recollection of what had just happened to him. He looked back at the refined-looking middle-aged man he was carrying in his rickshaw, who was resting with his eyes closed. Only then did he remember that the customer he had picked up from the train station was going to 15 Andrew Street.

Although he was somewhat puzzled about what he had just experienced and why his mind was so foggy, the rickshaw driver, under the pressure of life, couldn't care less about his doubts and sped up, pulling the rickshaw towards Andrew Street.

Navas Jungle, within the mysterious underground palace ruins.

Connor, having retreated from the depths of the palace, arrived at the spot where he had initially entered the underground palace gates, but what he saw before him surprised him.

The Ursakun Barrier, which was supposed to trap Firo, had vanished without a trace, along with Firo himself. If it weren't for the traces of energy left by the Ursakun Barrier on the floor tiles, Connor would have begun to doubt whether he had actually used the Ursakun Barrier to trap Firo at all.

Seeing this result, even with his deep-seated cunning, Connor couldn't help but let his doubts show. Although Connor felt that it had been no more than half an hour since he was trapped in the barrier of the Filo, in order to get a definite answer, he still took out his pocket watch and glanced at the time. Only twenty-three minutes had passed, and the doubts in Connor's eyes immediately intensified.

Judging from the current situation, the most likely scenario is that Philo broke through the Ersakun barrier and escaped from inside.

Although Connor found it hard to believe that Philo could actually escape from the Ursakun Barrier, which was used by the ancient alchemists to imprison the demons of the abyss, reason told him that it was probably true!

Realizing this, Connor pondered for a moment and then began to prepare, checking his surroundings to see if Philo had left any clues. However, before he had taken more than a few steps, he felt an extreme pain in his head, as if he were being pricked by needles. Connor broke out in a cold sweat and his body began to tremble uncontrollably.

Feeling his physical condition, Connor's intuition told him that he couldn't stay in this underground palace any longer, or he might die here. Taking a deep breath, Connor gritted his teeth and endured the pain in his head, and walked towards the secret passage he had come from.

Having successfully entered the secret passage and feeling a sense of relief that he was about to leave this eerie underground palace and return to the surface, Connor felt a slight sense of relief. The stabbing pain in his head also subsided somewhat. After walking for a few minutes, Connor arrived at the entrance of the secret passage, only to witness a scene that sent chills down his spine…

The man he had been wondering about, Philo, who had run away from the Ersakun barrier and disappeared without a trace, was now lying face down on the ground, motionless and lifeless. Clearly, Philo was dead. Besides Philo's death, what sank Connor's heart even more was that the entrance to the secret passage he had opened was now blocked again by the altar. This meant that Connor needed to reopen the secret passage, otherwise he might not be able to return to the surface.

Despite the bizarre situation, Connor quickly regained his composure and took the Castia Staff from his spatial ring.

Feeling the powerful energy emanating from the Castilian Staff he had crafted, Philo Connor slowly exhaled a breath of stale air and surveyed his surroundings.

Although Connor hasn't examined Philo's body yet, for some reason, Connor has a feeling that Philo's bizarre death here must have been caused by external forces, and that this "external force" that killed Philo might be nearby, secretly watching him, ready to make its move.

Even after searching the surroundings for several minutes without finding any possible threat, Connor still showed no intention of putting away the Castilian Staff in his hand. Instead, he continued to examine Philo's corpse fully armed.

Firo lay face down, eyes closed, his death relatively peaceful. No organs were missing, and aside from the traces of his own blood energy, there were no other signs of energy on his body. The only suspicious point was that Connor and Firo had last met half an hour ago, meaning Firo's time of death was definitely no more than half an hour ago. Yet, Firo's body now appeared as if he had been dead for several hours, cold and devoid of any warmth…
