Chapter 1074 Discovery

Faced with Philo's questioning, Connor raised an eyebrow. He hadn't expected that just when they were about to get down to business, Philo would cause trouble again. He then retorted with some dissatisfaction, "Philo, are you doubting my method?"

Upon hearing this, Philo dared not be careless and immediately shook his head, then explained, "Connor, I don't doubt your method. Although I don't know much about alchemy, I have read some alchemical texts, and I have never seen alchemical bombs used to detect formations before..."

Although Philo claimed he wasn't doubting Connor, Connor clearly sensed his suspicion. While understanding Philo's doubts, Connor still explained in a harsh tone, "Philo, your memory might be a little off. I already told you, using alchemical bombs to create an explosive shockwave that causes localized spatial energy imbalance carries risks. Therefore, it's an extreme measure only used when all other methods have failed. Since it's an extreme method, naturally very few people use it!"

"Connor, have you used this method to find magic circles before?" Before Connor could finish speaking, Philo immediately asked again:

"No!" Connor gave Philo a deep look before giving his answer. Although he had successfully simulated and set up this method of using alchemical bombs to find magic circles several times in the auxiliary chip, this was indeed the first time he had actually used it.

Philo was clearly surprised by Connor's answer. After a few seconds of stunned silence, he looked at Connor, sighed, and said, "I see, Connor Ferguson, you're using this place as a guinea pig in your alchemy lab!"

"If you insist on understanding it that way, I don't care. It's not that I, Connor Ferguson, am bragging, but since I started learning alchemy, I've encountered no fewer than fifty or sixty different arrays, some of which I haven't been able to decipher, but at least they're all completely transparent to me. So naturally, I don't need to use such extreme methods to discover arrays."

"Now that we may have encountered a formation personally set up by Reyes, and I've exhausted all conventional methods without finding any trace, this extreme method is the only option left!"

"Although all preparations are complete and we can begin at any time, I haven't officially started yet. Filo, if you have any doubts about your judgment, you can still call a halt now!" Knowing that Filo had already staked everything on this and wouldn't give up, Connor boldly challenged her, saying:

Faced with Connor's provocation, Firo gave a wry smile, waved his hand, and said frankly, "We've come this far, there's nothing to be afraid of anymore. Connor, let's begin!"

"good!"

Connor nodded in agreement, and then he and Firo flew around the pit.

Having reached a location 200 meters away and finding it to be at a safe distance, Connor did not hesitate. With a thought, he immediately activated the alchemical bomb that had been placed deep in the pit.

The next second, violent energy fluctuations surged from the bottom of the fifteen-meter-deep pit, and after these energy fluctuations reached a certain level, a deafening explosion came from the bottom of the pit.

"boom!"

Along with the deafening roar of the explosion came a massive shockwave. Although the pit that Philo had dug was fifteen meters deep and five meters wide and long, and was quite sturdy at Connor's request, it only lasted a few seconds before being completely destroyed by the shockwave from the alchemical bomb.

Under the watchful eyes of Connor and Ferdinand, the crater, which was originally square, rapidly expanded under the repeated impacts of the blast shockwave, gradually transforming into a massive circular crater resembling that formed after a meteorite impact. This demonstrated the immense explosive power of the metal brick-shaped alchemical bomb that Connor had crafted…

The alchemical bomb explosion consumed a great deal of energy in space, and given the scale of the explosion, the localized energy imbalance that Connor and Philo had been anticipating began to manifest only a few seconds after the explosion.

Feeling that he could hardly absorb any energy particles from this space, Connor immediately realized that his goal of causing a local spatial energy imbalance had been achieved. He then turned his hopeful gaze to the small hill. With such scarce energy, if Reyes had really laid down some kind of concealment array in this nameless hill, it should have become apparent by now.

Under Connor's watchful gaze, this unnamed hill, though transformed from a vibrant place into a desolate wasteland devoid of vegetation by the explosion of Connor's alchemical bomb, even its once fertile, dark soil now a strange, dark red...

Judging from the scene before him, this unnamed hill had been completely ravaged by Connor, yet it still showed no trace of the array that Connor wanted to see.

Seeing all his efforts come to naught, Connor, who had been very confident in his methods, was filled with disappointment. Connor was slightly better off; although disappointed, he could at least control his emotions. On the other hand, Philo, upon seeing that the hill was empty, seemed to collapse instantly. A few seconds later, in his dejection, he flew towards the unknown hill as if he had gone mad, seemingly wanting to make one last futile effort.

Despite his deep disappointment—all his efforts seemed to have been in vain—Connor wasn't defeated by his despair. He quickly rallied, watching Philo's retreating figure as he flew towards an unnamed hill. His eyes narrowed, a glint of cunning in them. Since the excavation of the ruins had failed, Philo's value to Connor was no longer significant. Now was perhaps the time to settle accounts with Philo for Margaret's acquisition of the Blood Moon Codex…

With this in mind, Connor gradually made up his mind. He silently took out his most powerful enchanted item, the Castia Staff, from his spatial ring and then quietly walked towards Filo.
