Wizard Earl

Chapter 1010 Demon Spirit Grass

After a moment's hesitation, Connor shook his head, abandoning any thought of disturbing the burial remains. He was a psychic wizard, not one who practiced necromancy, so the remains of wizards were of no use to him. Besides, he had no past grudges or present conflicts with the tomb's owner, and he had already obtained the Crimson Cross Sword from the tomb's owner—a tremendous benefit. To disturb someone's remains would be truly dishonest, even for someone as thick-skinned and ruthless as Connor was.

From the stone door leading to the central burial chamber, Connor removed the two unused metal brick-shaped alchemical bombs. Connor had originally planned to use these two alchemical bombs to create an escape route if he encountered any danger in the central burial chamber, but fortunately, things didn't come to that, and Connor didn't need to use them.

Connor, having carefully stored the alchemical bomb, silently chanted an incantation. The spatial token in his hand immediately emitted a brilliant purple light once more. A few seconds later, with the help of the Caldara teleportation, Connor returned to the surface, retrieved the array he had set up, and the warning crystal ball. After clearing away the traces around him, Connor headed towards DeZerby. At this point, only three minutes remained until the agreed-upon meeting time with DeZerby.

Connor quickly returned to the location of De Zerby and the group of Storm Church Arbitrators. It was clear that after the battle with the swarm of evil spiders, De Zerby valued Connor's advice even more. When Connor returned, De Zerby and his Storm Church Arbitrators had already finished their rest as Connor had requested and were waiting for Connor's return so they could prepare to set off for their next destination in the Campania Mountains.

"Where have you been?" Seeing Connor's travel-worn appearance, a fleeting look of doubt flashed in the old man Dezelby's eyes, before he calmly asked Connor:

After being warned by Connor with his mental power at Ferguson Mansion, De Zelby, who was deeply impressed by Connor's terror, carefully reviewed the investigation report on Connor Ferguson provided to him by the Black Organization. Through this detailed observation, he gained a clearer understanding of Connor.

DeZelby believed that Connor Ferguson was a man with a very strong sense of purpose and would never do anything pointless. Therefore, since Connor had chosen to leave alone, he must have been doing something. Furthermore, Connor's refusal to answer when DeZelby asked where he was going only deepened DeZelby's suspicions about what Connor had been doing for the nearly one hour he had been gone…

If it weren't for the fact that DeZelby himself hadn't yet recovered from the mental attack of the evil spider swarm, making him physically weaker and less capable, DeZelby would never have let Connor leave alone.

Although De Zelby's tone was quite calm and unremarkable, Connor still sensed a hint of suspicion in it. However, Connor had anticipated this situation before taking action, so he wasn't surprised. He glanced at De Zelby and said with a cold smile, "Why do I need to report to you now?"

Sensing the hostility in Connor's words, Dezelby was somewhat annoyed, but remembering how he had ignored Connor's advice an hour earlier and insisted on staying there, he felt insecure facing Connor after encountering these evil spider spirits. He could only awkwardly say, "Connor, we are a team. We need to cooperate closely to complete the task the church assigned us. If you don't want to talk, that's fine..."

DeZelby's statement did not surprise Connor. To avoid arousing DeZelby's suspicion, he gave a cold snort and then said calmly, "DeZelby, haven't you read in the books that such a potion exists around the areas where the Evil Spirit Spider roams?"

Upon hearing Connor's words, Dezelby was taken aback at first, then instantly realized what he meant and looked at Connor, saying, "You went to pick Magic Spirit Grass?"

Connor didn't answer Dezelby's question, only a half-smile playing on his lips. Although Dezelby didn't get an answer from Connor, he knew the answer in his heart. A look of regret immediately appeared in his eyes. No wonder Connor hadn't answered him when he asked him what he was doing at the beginning; that guy was truly cunning, secretly going to pick the Demon Spirit Grass all by himself…

The next second, De Zelby, filled with regret, seemed to have thought of something. He looked in the direction Connor had come from, a fleeting glint of light flashing in his eyes. His aged face also showed some hesitation, and he looked somewhat eager to try.

Seeing Dezelby's expression, Connor naturally understood what he was thinking. He then took out a jade box from his spatial ring and smiled at Dezelby, saying, "Don't even think about it. All the magic spirit herbs we can find around here are here. Of course, you can stay here if you insist, and see if you and your people can find any new magic spirit herbs, but I'm not going to keep you company!"

Looking at the jade box in Connor's hand, Dezelby's regret deepened even more. But since the item was already in Connor's hands, he absolutely could not snatch it. Moreover, Connor was right. If they stayed any longer, it would get dark and there would be no sun. Those damned evil spiders might come back to kill them, which would be really troublesome. Although the magic spirit grass was precious, what did it matter compared to his own life?

Thinking of this, De Zelby could only shake his head helplessly, no longer doubting Connor. Then, with a wave of his hand, he led his group of listless church arbitrators to the next location in the Campania Mountains.

Connor put the jade box back into his spatial ring and walked in the middle of the group. Although he looked very calm, if Varga and Margaret, who knew Connor well and were close to him, were here, they would definitely be able to see the smugness behind Connor's calm expression.

After defeating the horde of evil spiders, Connor discovered the potential hidden opportunity in the ancient building deep underground. He already anticipated that Dezelby would become suspicious after he left. So, before even making a decision, Connor had already devised an excuse to avoid arousing Dezelby's suspicion, and that excuse was—the Demon Spirit Grass!
