Wizard Immortal
Chapter 95 On the Road
Chapter 95 On the Road
Time passed quickly.
Seven or eight days later, by a stream, Adir opened his eyes, ending his meditation.
"The traps we set didn't react, so it seems we're safe now."
After opening his eyes, Adir casually looked around and calmly thought to himself.
When he left the academy, he had imagined all sorts of dangers he might encounter, one of which was that they might come from some of the academy's wizards.
As a half-elf, Adir's physical structure is different from that of ordinary people, making him a rare research subject for some wizards.
Even now, Adir still remembers that formal wizard named Gramo. If he hadn't been in the academy at the time, Adir would probably have been sent to the dissection table by then.
Within the academy, due to the constraints imposed by the academy's higher-ups, and with the presence of the wizard Edith behind Adir, his behavior could be somewhat restrained. However, once outside the academy's boundaries, given his personality, he might very well take action against him.
It's unlikely that he'd do it personally; according to Adir's understanding, the other party isn't currently at the academy. He was recently sent to the northern plains by the academy to guard the entrance to the secret realm with wizards from other wizarding organizations, and hasn't had time to return.
However, even without taking action personally, given the other party's status as a formal wizard, a slight signal would suffice to send out some powerful apprentices.
Because of this possibility, Adir had been traveling at full speed during this period. Except for the occasional rest for his horse, he spent almost all his time traveling and seemed to be in a great hurry.
However, it now seems that the other side may not have sent anyone out, or even if they did, they haven't caught up with Adir yet.
"Think about it, it seems quite normal."
Sitting on the ground, looking at the two horses resting beside him, Adir thought to himself, "Although half-elves have some research value, that's about it. In terms of value, they certainly can't compare to the things in the ancient secret realm."
"Given their personality, once they arrive at the secret realm left behind by the ancient wizard, they'll be too busy studying the ancient materials left behind there to even think about me."
Thinking of this, Adir couldn't help but smile.
Although he had this thought in mind, just in case, he still got up and prepared to get on his way as soon as possible.
A short distance ahead lies a principality. Once there, with a large number of ordinary people providing cover, it will be very difficult to find him even if someone is chasing him.
Before long, he mounted his horse and continued on his way.
As time passed, on the second day, some figures began to appear around.
Adir glanced around casually. These people were mostly local natives, with long hair, carrying crude bows and arrows and spears, and seemed to make a living by hunting.
The people reacted differently upon seeing Adir. Some, seeing him riding a tall horse with a sword at his waist, immediately knelt down, looking terrified. Others, however, excitedly charged towards Adir, clearly seeing him as easy prey.
Adir didn't even bother using magic against these attacking native savages. He simply picked up the bow and arrows on his horse and shot them down one by one.
On his journey, he tried to communicate with the indigenous people, but their language was completely unfamiliar and he could not communicate with them.
Although the chip's powerful analysis capabilities could quickly resolve the issue, it would require staying here for several more days, which wasn't worthwhile for Adil.
A few days later, Adir began to see some villages where some locals lived, but most villages had small populations, with only a few dozen people in many villages.
The language used here is an ancient language called Cuban, but perhaps due to its remoteness, the local language has undergone some changes. Although it still belongs to the Cuban language family, it sounds more like a difficult dialect, which makes Adir feel a little uncomfortable.
With the help of the chip, Adir was able to communicate with the locals and obtain some basic information from them.
"Have we already entered the territory of the Duchy of Allen?"
Walking along the road, looking at the village that was slowly receding into the distance behind him, Adir murmured to himself.
According to the records that Adir bought at the academy, the Principality of Allen is a small country. Although the country covers a large area, the population is sparse and the civilization within the country is relatively backward.
This duchy was the first duchy Adir would pass through. After passing through this duchy and traveling a short distance, he would reach the Kingdom of Gumodo, the location of his mission.
For Adir, where he went wasn't important; all he needed was to get away from the academy and avoid the center of the vortex. Therefore, whether he stayed in the Duchy of Allen or went to the Kingdom of Gumodo, it was essentially the same for Adir.
However, the Duchy of Allen is not far enough from the academy, and since Adir has accepted the mission, it would be a bit inappropriate to do nothing.
After traveling for several days, Adir arrived at a city in the southern part of the Principality of Allen.
"Outsiders, you need to pay an entrance fee to enter the city."
At the city gate, several guards dressed in tattered leather robes stood guard with cheap spears. When they saw Adir's figure, they were first stunned, and then shouted.
Adir stood out from the other pedestrians.
His appearance was different from the locals; it was immediately obvious that he was from out of town. Moreover, Adir's clothing and the sword at his waist made him stand out.
"Is this enough?"
Looking at the guard in front of him, Adir tossed what he was holding to him and then said directly.
"silver."
The guard in front of him was taken aback by what Adir had thrown at him.
Before leaving the academy, Adir exchanged some mortal currency for his upcoming journey. Although the style might be different from that used in this duchy, silver and gold coins were generally fine to use, though the calculations might be a bit complicated.
"You can go in now."
The guard squeezed the silver coin in his hand, swallowed hard, and then looked at Adir with some resentment.
As Adir entered the city, his eyes were fixed on the long sword at Adir's waist and the two horses behind him, his eyes revealing a kind of greed and desire.
Adir noticed his gaze but paid it no mind.
This kind of thing is quite normal, and for Adir, if someone really messes with him, it's just a matter of a spell.
"Sir, would you like a guide?"
As we entered the city, a voice suddenly rang out ahead.
Adir looked ahead and saw a boy of about twelve or thirteen years old standing there. The boy looked at Adir with a nervous expression and said, "Sir, I know this city very well. For just one copper coin, I can take you anywhere here."
Looking at the child, Adir said calmly, "I want to find a place where I can stay and have a good lunch."
"Then I recommend you go to the Green family's hotel. Although it is relatively small, it is very comfortable, and they have excellent lamb chops and fruit wine."
Upon hearing Adir's words, the boy's face lit up with joy, and he quickly began to speak to Adir.
"Lead the way."
Adir nodded and raised his right hand, indicating that the other party should lead the way.
Soon, led by the boy, Adir quickly reached a corner of the city.
As we approached this point, a sharp, arguing voice gradually rose from ahead.
Following the sound, Adir looked into the distance.
About seven or eight meters away, there was a small hotel that looked quite old, with a sign that read "Green Family Hotel".
At that moment, a quarrel broke out in the hotel, which Adir could clearly hear even from seven or eight meters away.
bump!!
A moment later, the hotel door was kicked open, and a figure was thrown out forcefully, landing heavily on the ground with a thud.
It was an ordinary-looking middle-aged man who was lying on the ground, covered in blood and bruises, looking as if he had just been beaten.
"Old Man Green!!"
Seeing the middle-aged man on the ground beside Adir, the boy exclaimed and quickly ran forward, seemingly recognizing the man.
"Green, I think I already told you, you have to give me my money this month, or you'll have to bear the consequences yourself!" A rough voice came from the hotel.
Under Adir's watchful gaze, a tall, imposing man with several scars on his face emerged from inside, staring menacingly at Green lying on the ground.
"You robbers!! We already paid you back, why are you doing this?!"
A frantic shout came from inside.
Inside the hotel, two men emerged, both wearing sinister smiles. One was holding a blonde girl, while the other was holding a middle-aged woman. They appeared to be accomplices of the scarred man from before.
At this moment, looking at the scarred man in front of her, the blonde girl struggled frantically, but was held tightly and could not break free at all.
"Anyway, Green..."
Looking at the middle-aged man lying on the ground, the scarred man walked forward with a sneer, and pulled out a small knife from somewhere.
He placed one foot on the middle-aged man's chest, lowered his head, and said, "So? Are you going to pay me back or not?"
"Give me another twenty gold coins, and our business will be over. Otherwise..."
He paused, then grabbed the boy beside him, his strong arm gripping his neck: "The fate of your son and daughter is not so certain."
Watching this scene, Adir shook his head slightly.
He had no intention of meddling in other people's business. Seeing this, he simply took the reins and prepared to find another inn.
"Hey!! Kid over there, what do you think you're doing?"
Standing to the side, the scarred man watched Adir turn away, a sinister smile spreading across his face: "You've had a free show, and now you want to leave?"
"Leave your horse and gold coins before you leave!!"
