Chapter 68 The Only One's Treatment

Christina walked ahead.

This is a stern-faced white woman with short silver hair, sharp black eyebrows, and tightly pursed lips. She must have been very beautiful when she was young, but now she looks somewhat harsh.

Christina wasn't wearing an evening gown, just ordinary casual clothes, but no one dared to underestimate her.

As the top university in the Federation, it has no real power, but its status and position are extraordinary.

Even Warren Carter was half a body length behind her.

Warren Carter was a broad-shouldered middle-aged man with a smiling face. He was kind to everyone and looked more like a politician than a high-ranking official.

Everyone came forward to greet the two, even Calderson, a fellow professor at Princeton, had to take the initiative to say hello.

Although he was the dean, Christina's status was so high that he couldn't help but show her respect.

Tang Yuanfan, not even bothering to chat with Richard, quickly said:

"Come to my house for dinner sometime."

Richard nodded:

"must."

Tang Yuanfan quickly squeezed into the crowd.

Warren Carter and Christina became the focus of the party.

Brian led the way to the front, shook hands with Warren Carter, and the two patted each other on the shoulder and put their arms around each other, showing great familiarity.

Warren Carter's affection eased Brian's worries somewhat.

Next was Christina, and Brian was even more serious.

Although she held no official position, her status in the scientific community was extremely high, and she was hailed as the only genius Princeton had produced in the last thirty years, "The Only One".

In the New York medical community, Christina was the only ray of sunshine, and everyone involved in medicine treated her with utmost respect.

Christina wields enormous potential influence even within the entire federal healthcare system.

However, Christina didn't seem to like the environment and greeted everyone perfunctorily.

Warren Carter, on the other hand, is elegant and quick-witted, displaying a decisive and efficient style.

As expected of a top-notch affairs officer who is about to take up the post of Deputy Minister of HHS, his speech and demeanor are first-rate, and he made everyone around him laugh out loud with just a few words.

He was like a center of gravity, attracting everyone's attention.

Christina then took the opportunity to escape the crowd and said to Warren Carter:

"I'm a little tired, so I'm going upstairs to rest for a while. I hope I'll have the opportunity to talk to Mr. Carter."

Warren Carter nodded slightly:

"I will go and listen to Dr. Shepard's teachings later."

Christina walked away quickly. She didn't like this environment. Her status and age were enough for her to do whatever she wanted without having to accommodate anyone.

Brian quickly instructed Doug to take Christina to rest. No one thought she was being impolite; they only thought Brian's actions were perfectly appropriate.

Christina's quick departure greatly disappointed some academic fans.

Only Helen was envious.

This is the goal I should strive for! Unlike me, I'm forced to attend this time-wasting banquet and am swarmed by mosquitoes.

Dominic returned triumphantly.

He had just gone to curry favor with Christina and received a casual remark.

He was the only one among the younger generation who could strike up a conversation with Christina, and he flaunted himself wildly in front of Helen like a peacock.

Helen felt annoyed and wanted to run away, but found herself surrounded by a group of people in despair.

She saw Richard in the corner and looked on with envy.

Even if you can't leave directly like Christina, it would be good to sit quietly in a corner like Richard!

Richard had met her a few times, but he never tried to strike up a conversation. He would just greet her casually and chat about the weather, which made her feel relaxed.

Just then, Richard looked over.

Helen's eyes clearly said: Save me, save me, save me...

Richard almost burst out laughing, but he had important business to attend to and didn't have time to drag a socially awkward woman out of hell.

Seeing Helen's gaze fixed on Richard, Dominic's jealousy surged again, and he deliberately repeated:

"Hmph, he took my teacher's recommendation letter, but my teacher isn't happy about it."

Helen barely showed any interest:

"Oh? Why?"

......

Tang Yuanfan managed to exchange a few words with Warren Carter before being pushed out of the crowd.

He didn't care. The most important thing for a businessman is to be thick-skinned; otherwise, he would never have been able to make a name for himself abroad.

Tang Yuanfan found Tang Yuqing.

"See that young man?" he pointed to Dominic, who was fawning over Helen.

"That young man is a better date prospect; Calderson's star pupil, and he's supposedly already got an offer from Johns Hopkins Hospital..."

Tang Yuqing's face was full of disdain:

"Him?! Judging by his appearance, he must be almost thirty!"

"He is indeed a bit older, but he's only ten years older than you. How's that young man? He graduated from university last year and is working as a doctor at Nancy Health Center..."

"Dad! I don't want to get married yet!" Tang Yuqing said, somewhat annoyed.

"I'm not even an adult yet! Are you already in such a hurry to marry me off?"

Tang Yuanfan sighed:

"Of course I don't want that. I just want you to pick a decent date and have a proper relationship for a few years. You're almost eighteen. A four- or five-year relationship in college can lead to marriage after graduation. Don't waste your time on those brainless athletes, Chelsea! A woman's youth is very precious!"

"Dad! This is America! Not some old-fashioned Tokyo University!"

Tang Yuanfan snorted:

"Even people from Tokyo University don't get married this early, but I really don't trust your judgment. You don't have to do what I say, but I'm going to set a few rules for you: your date can't be Black, it can only be White or Asian; he can't smoke marijuana, can't do drugs, can't drink alcohol; and finally, idiots with a GPA below 4.0 are not allowed."

Tang Yuqing rolled her eyes:

"I'm already struggling to even get a 3.0 version. Aren't your expectations too high?"

"So you know you're an idiot after all?"

"..."

......

Brian was too busy to introduce Richard to Calderson.

As he was chatting with a group of people, he happened to see Richard passing by, and Calderson was also in the crowd, so he immediately seized the opportunity to say:

"Richard! Over here! Professor Calderson, I'd like to formally introduce you to a young and promising talent!"

Richard was somewhat surprised.

Those around Richard looked on with envy. Being personally introduced to Calderson by a congressman meant he had a bright future ahead of him.

Brian said with a broad smile:

"Richard, this is Professor Calderson. He personally wrote your letter of recommendation—a very significant one!"

After Brian finished speaking, he was surprised to see that Calderson's face was actually quite cold:

"No, Mr. Congressman, that letter of recommendation was only written because of Warren Carter. As for whether Richard can get into Princeton, that depends on himself. I'll say it again: if the grades aren't good enough, I won't allow someone who's just filling a spot to get into Princeton. I heard Richard wants to study medicine, which is a matter of life and death, and Princeton wants to ensure that every student admitted has sufficient ability."

The onlookers' expressions turned sour. This was hardly a recommendation for a junior.

This is clearly nitpicking!

Brian's expression also turned serious; he had absolutely no idea what Calderson was up to.

You've already accepted my favor and written a letter of recommendation for Richard, so what are you doing now?

Are they going back on their word?

Brian suddenly tensed up, worried that Richard would get angry.

He glanced at Richard and saw that he was still quite calm, which put his mind at ease.

Brian, barely suppressing his anger, said:

"Dean Calderson, there might be some misunderstanding..."

Calderson raised his glass in a gesture of respect:

"Excuse me, Congressman Anderson, there's an old friend over there."

After saying that, he walked away with his head held high.

Everyone looked at Brian, their eyes filled with mockery.

This is clearly an attempt to distance themselves from Brian.

"Hmph!" Brian slammed his wine glass heavily on the table.

He appeared angry, but in reality, he was panicking.

Calderson isn't stupid. He was willing to write a letter of recommendation just a few days ago, but his attitude has suddenly changed so much today. Something must have happened that he doesn't know about!
