I'm a proper student; I only take nine kinds of potions every day.

Chapter 93: All Doubts Are Paid for by the Ancestors

Chapter 93 All Doubts Are Paid for by the Ancestors

The last sound of that fart was like an invisible slap in everyone's face.

The vast majority of students didn't dare to utter a sound, and all lowered their heads to open their textbooks on the table, using the rustling sound of turning pages to cover up their embarrassment.

Most ordinary students have this kind of temperament.

There is no obvious good, nor is there any obvious evil.

They admire the strong, conform to the crowd, and are most concerned about not appearing out of place.

In a favorable situation, join in the fun. In an unfavorable situation, keep your head down and get back to your own business.

The two young men who had tried to mediate the fight turned red and then pale.

In their view, Ivan's fart was more than just untimely.

Instead, it was a blatant public humiliation of these respectable people.

But at this moment, they didn't dare to say a word back.

The Phoenix Brotherhood is far more powerful than them.

This poor kid from Guding Street managed to escape unscathed from that group of people, and even managed to send the entire fraternity to the front page of the newspaper and into a coffin.

These kinds of characters are not people that rich young masters who rely on their family's money to get ahead would dare to mess with.

In the end, the two young men could only swallow their anger and sit back in their seats, not daring to utter another word, and could only obediently listen to Evan's nonsense.

The classroom was quiet for a while.

The door was pushed open.

Professor Mons was still wearing a clean white cotton shirt, with a dark gray wool vest over it.

He stepped across the threshold, looked around, his gaze sweeping over the pairs of downcast eyes, and slowly nodded.

"Finally, it feels a bit like a classroom."

He slammed his leather lecture notes onto the podium: "Class begins!"

Throughout the rest of the lesson, Evan's performance was as impeccable as ever.

He can recite everything from structural formulas to reaction equations almost effortlessly.

Professor Mons is now increasingly willing to call on him to answer questions, and occasionally he will nod at him as a sign of approval for his prized student.

The morning classes ended quickly.

To put it simply, what are the obvious differences compared to last week?

That means the biology teacher has changed.

According to the mimeographed notice posted on the school bulletin board, Professor Pulis had returned to his hometown to recuperate due to a recurrence of an old injury.

Very few students really cared about this.

Everyone's attention was focused on the big news about the Phoenix Brotherhood.

During the day, several groups of plainclothes detectives appeared on campus.

With grim faces, they called several students who had connections to the Phoenix Brotherhood into their office one by one for individual questioning.

The Phoenix Brotherhood activity room, which was originally on the third floor of the main building, was now sealed with several wax-sealed paper strips.

Several police officers in gray overcoats carried out one nailed wooden crate after another from the house; the crate lids were marked with the number 0 in ink.

Unfortunately, each box was sealed tightly, and even with the students craning their necks, they couldn't see what was inside the boxes as they stood on both sides of the aisle.

At 2 p.m., the school held an impromptu school-wide assembly in the domed auditorium.

The principal stood behind the podium, his gold-rimmed glasses gleaming coldly under the lamplight, suppressing his anger.

In a tone as calm as possible, he delivered a rather harsh public criticism of Alcott and his group, announcing their permanent expulsion from the university and inclusion in the "Collection of Shames of the University of the Wise."

According to the original plan, Ivan was also to be awarded a medal at this gathering.

But Evan politely declined on the spot.

He simply smiled and accepted the accompanying $100 bonus, telling the new head of students that all the credit should go to Hearst.

The new head of student affairs immediately smiled and praised him for being sensible.

He has no intention of becoming famous.

At gatherings of this size, there is never a shortage of reporters in the audience.

Once I get on stage, those guys will definitely stop me and interrogate me afterward. In a day or two, my face will be on the front page of every tabloid in Bolton.

If even the newspaper boy recognized me back then, how would I ever be able to go out and scam medicine?

Thus, the medal and the spotlight ultimately fell on Erdin's shoulders.

Before the awards ceremony was even over, Ivan had already slipped out of the back door of the auditorium.

In any case, to make way for this conference, all afternoon recitation classes and subsequent courses will be suspended.

He seized the opportunity, walked out of the school gate, jumped onto a tram parked at the street corner, and headed to the Sage University Medical School.

The medical school is located north of the Char River, about five kilometers from the main campus, requiring a tram transfer.

3:30 p.m.

After a half-hour drive, Evan got off at the final stop.

He looked up.

The main building of the Sage Medical School is a red brick and granite building, modeled after the solid style of New England, with Romanesque arched porticoes.

The three-story main building stands in a row, with several auxiliary buildings extending symmetrically from the two wings, and a wisp of white mist drifting from the top of the chimney.

The Latin motto, engraved above the porch, was somewhat blurred by the winter smog.

The people coming and going were quite diverse.

A young medical student in a white coat, carrying thick textbooks, hurried up and down the steps.

Several elderly professors, wearing round glasses and sporting goatees, slowly walked across the porch, leaning on their canes.

A nurse in a light gray uniform and a white nurse's cap moved nimbly through the crowd, carrying a medical record folder under her arm.

Everyone wore a similar expression: cold, serious, and with an almost religious solemnity unique to this top medical school in the United States.

Ivan stepped through the door.

A bronze medical school badge hangs high in the main hall, below which is a white marble reception desk.

Behind the counter stood a female receptionist, her head down, writing something in a thick registration book.

"Hello, is there anything I can help you with?"

She looked up, revealing a young and capable face.

With a smile, Ivan handed Armitage the letter of recommendation, sealed with a bright red wax seal, over with both hands.

"Hello, I am a student at Sage University."

"I came here to be Dr. Forem's assistant on the recommendation of a senior colleague."

The nurse took the letter and frowned slightly.

"Sir, are you unfamiliar with the standard procedure for writing a letter of recommendation?"

Her tone was fairly polite: "According to the rules, such letters should be sent through your school first to make an appointment."

Evan grinned, revealing half of his clean, even teeth.

"This beautiful lady."

"This is a rather personal letter, sent by an old acquaintance of Dr. Forem."

"Just send it over there. If the doctor doesn't want to see me after you send it over, then you can kick me out."

The nurse held the thick envelope between her fingers, glanced at Evan's face, and then looked at the wax seal on the back of the envelope.

The emblem on the wax seal was the same one she had seen on the Miskatonic.

"Please wait a moment."

She turned and strode quickly along the corridor paved with dark gray granite tiles in the main building.

Dr. Forem had instructed more than once that all letters sent from the University of Michigan should be delivered directly to him.

Ivan stood by the arched pillar in the hall, put his hands in his coat pockets, and slowly looked around.

A row of oil paintings hangs on the wall, each depicting a portrait of one of the past deans of the medical school.

The medical students coming and going all seemed serious and in a hurry.

About five minutes later.

The nurse walked back quickly, her smile even brighter than before.

"Sir, please follow me."

Evan followed her through the corridor and up the staircase with oak handrails at the corner to the second floor.

The second-floor corridor was quieter than the first-floor corridor.

The doors on both sides were tightly closed, and the names on the doorplates were written in black ink on small copper plaques.

The nurse led Evan to a closed wooden door, nodded politely in greeting, and then turned and left.

Ivan reached out and knocked on the door.

"Please come in."

A gentle response came from inside.

Push the door open and go inside.

It was an office surrounded by bookshelves and filing cabinets.

Behind me was a row of walnut bookshelves that reached the ceiling, and the walls on both sides were crammed with dark green metal filing cabinets. The window opened onto a lawn in the backyard.

A middle-aged man in his early forties was sitting behind the table.

He was of medium build and of average appearance, with thick, neatly combed black hair, though a few gray hairs had appeared at his temples.

He was currently reading the letter of recommendation intently.

His overall demeanor doesn't resemble that of a top medical doctor; rather, he seems like a kind uncle in the neighborhood who loves telling stories to children.

But just as the middle-aged man looked up and looked over...

Evan clearly saw several different colored pupils flash across those seemingly gentle eyes in an instant.

That is definitely not a normal human physiological structure.

Ivan closed the door first, then stepped forward respectfully and bowed.

"Hello, Dr. Form."

Forem hummed in agreement and spoke in a refined and gentle voice.

"I have read Professor Armitage's letter of recommendation."

He put down the letter and looked up at Evan.

"Well done, Phoenix Brotherhood, those guys deserve to die."

"sit."

Ivan smiled and walked to the table, sitting down in the guest chair covered with calfskin.

Forem took a white porcelain teacup from the drawer and poured half a cup of hot tea into the small tray in front of him.

"I heard you tested the drug on Bartlus?"

Ivan nodded and said with a smile.

"Yes, Professor Pulis's medicine is very potent. After drinking it, I could carry a sack for four hours straight without breaking a sweat."

Upon hearing this, Forem couldn't help but burst out laughing.

Is it powerful?

He repeated it.

"A rather interesting comment."

After laughing, he lowered his gaze and looked back at the letter of recommendation lying on the table.

Armitage deliberately highlighted a line in bold, stiff penmanship at the very end.

This student possesses a simple sense of justice, an exceptionally sunny and cheerful disposition, and unconventional thinking; you should be prepared for that.

Immediately following was a line of smaller print.

{Important: He seems to really like potions. You need to be mindful of related issues and let him experience the dangers of potions firsthand through experiments.}

Seeing this, Forem raised his hand and pulled out a glass medicine bottle about the size of a thumb from another drawer under the table. The bottle mouth was sealed with a layer of dark red beeswax, which had an amber-colored sheen.

"I heard that you have excellent drug resistance because of your family background?"

He placed the medicine bottle on the edge of the table.

"I have a potion here, would you like to try it?"

"Let me make this clear first, my potion is different from Bartrus's. His batch was too low-grade."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Forem saw the young man, as if he had seen a jar of candy, swiftly take the potion from him.

Then, the young man curled his long tongue and deftly pried open the beeswax bottle.

Then he tilted his head back and gulped it down.

Forem's eye twitched, and he coughed before asking.

"How are you feeling?"

After finishing his drink, Evan took a few sips and then gave his evaluation.

"I feel okay, but my head feels a bit cold."

[You have ingested a mind-calming potion. Effects last: 4 hours.]

[Effect: During the duration of the medication's effects, concentration and memory improve by 400%.]

Does this reverse the side effects?

"Reversal".

You reversed the side effects of the Mind-Focusing Potion.

[Reversal progress: 6 hours.]

"Six hours, the standard level of side effects for a basic potion."

Evan silently made his plans.

The unfinished experimental potions from Priss generally had a reversal side effect lasting about four hours.

The bottle in front of us has a time-reversal effect that is basically the same as the gecko and shark potions we drank before.

At that moment, he immediately felt as if he had reversed the effects of phenobarbital side effects.

My attention became incredibly sharp and focused, and I could easily hear all the noise in the environment.

The chaotic and random thoughts that used to linger in my mind are now perfectly orderly.

"Have you experienced any side effects?"

From the subtle changes in his expression, Forem could tell that the drug was working, and asked.

Ivan shook his head: "Not for now."

"When I drink potions, the side effects usually appear a few hours later, and the final effect is not severe."

The fact that the potion's side effects are not obvious cannot be hidden.

Moreover, the power of the nine dragons is the core cheat code he will rely on every day from now on, which means he will have to use various magic potions frequently.

So Ivan never intended to completely cover it up from the beginning.

He simply made some selective treatments in the narrative, omitting the most important details.

What is revealed are only superficial phenomena that can be explained as "family-specific constitution".

Anyway, all the mysteries surrounding him can be blamed on that cheap ancestor.

Along the way, almost everyone, whether it was Hill, Richard, Prie, or Armitage, had become accustomed to his peculiarities.

Forem slowly rose and walked around from behind the table.

He stretched out his right hand and gently pressed on Evan's shoulder, and instantly ten more fingers grew out of his normal palm!

A hand with fifteen fingers, densely packed together, forms a fleshy stethoscope, seemingly sensing something.

A dozen seconds later, he withdrew his hand, leaned back against the edge of the table, and a genuine look of amazement appeared in his eyes.

"That trace of bestiality in the potion has indeed not been released."

"It's like it's been temporarily sealed off by something."

He looked up at Evan and spoke gently.

"You have an ancestor who wants to eat you."

"But you have indeed benefited from her grace."
