Chapter 79 Doinb's Disappointment
Chapter 80 Doinb's Disappointment (Tenth Update, Please Subscribe!!!)
During the Spring Festival holiday, it wasn't just professional gamers who got a break; Tencent employees also got one.
Therefore, the Chinese server did not update any version during the entire Spring Festival period.
So even though the Chinese server is still on the initial 6.1 version, the official North American server version has already reached 6.3.
According to the announcement, versions 6.2 and 6.3 will be updated together tomorrow, which is a common practice in the Chinese server.
Version 6.3 will be the version used in the competition four days later.
During the Spring Festival, professional players are still playing version 6.1. The day after tomorrow, they will suddenly jump to version 6.3, which will definitely cause them to be out of sync with the current version. Therefore, it is important to hold a meeting and conduct some special training for the new version.
The PPT slides were projected onto the screen and were quite clear even after the lights were turned off.
The first thing that catches the eye is the new hero, Jhin, the Virtuoso.
This is an unconventional AD hero, possessing a fixed attack speed, high attack damage, and powerful utility.
"I don't need to say much about this," banbazi said. "Judging from the win rate, the new hero's win rate isn't very high, so there shouldn't be a rush to put it on the field. But Uzi still needs to focus on practicing it, and it might improve soon."
Uzi nodded as well.
Next came the rework of a hero.
Shen, the Eye of Twilight, was originally slated for a rework in patch 6.2, but it wasn't officially released on the Chinese server until patch 6.3.
"After this hero was reworked, the support role is no longer popular," banbazi said. "This is more like a top lane pick. The data is still unclear, so Chen Dongqing should practice on his own."
Chen Dongqing smiled and nodded.
"Several overpowered champions from the previous patch have been balanced. Alistar, Graves, Fiora, and Poppy have all received minor nerfs, with Gangplank's ultimate cooldown increased by 20 seconds. These nerfs are reflected in the stats, and the win rates of these champions have been reduced."
As he spoke, Banbazi switched to various images, displaying all the nerfs to the heroes' stats on the screen. After each nerf, there was also a comparison chart of the hero's win rate in the Korean server for the two versions.
This PPT is quite intuitive, clearly showing that the win rate of each hero has decreased slightly, but not by much. It hasn't made them out of the meta, but it has balanced their overpowered strength.
"Secondly, it's Ryze's big nerf."
[Passive - Arcane Mastery - Duration: Now lasts for 5 spell casts or 2.5-5 seconds (based on Q skill level)]
Ryze is known as a magic machine gun because of his passive skill.
Previously, Ryze would gain a passive stack with each spell cast. When he had five stacks, he would enter a five-second supercharge state. In this state, casting spells would reduce the cooldown of other spells by the duration of his Q spell cooldown.
Furthermore, since the cooldown time of the E skill is twice that of the Q skill, and the cooldown time of the W skill is three times that of the Q skill, once you enter the supercharged state, you can use WQEQWQEQ to control people so they can't move, making you a true magic machine gun.
The image of Faker using three consecutive Ws to control and kill Pawn is still vivid in my mind.
But now, this cut has struck a vital artery.
The Supercharged state can only be used for five casts, meaning you can only control two W spells at most.
Moreover, the duration of the skill in the early game has been halved, with the level 1 skill lasting only 2.5 seconds, making it no longer as powerful as before.
On the next page, Ryze's win rate chart will be displayed.
Ryze is a champion that is more suited for competitive play, and his win rate in ranked games is already quite poor. Even in the strongest version 6.1, his win rate was only slightly over 50%.
However, after version 6.3, the percentage plummeted to 45.86%.
Immediately following is the change on the next page.
Upon seeing this page, Uz smiled again.
Big Mouth Enhancement.
The Q skill no longer provides an attack speed bonus.
The attack speed bonus didn't disappear; instead, it was moved to W.
This one change is enough to elevate Big Mouth to godlike status.
Kog'Maw was reworked around the same time as other marksmen like Miss Fortune, Caitlyn, Graves, Corki, and Quinn, and now it's known as the "five-shot-per-second" version.
However, even with five bursts per second in version 6.1, Kog'Maw's popularity and win rate are not high.
While the ability to spray five times in a second in the late game is fantastic, the early game is too tough, and the lane phase is easily crushed by the current meta champions like Kalista and Miss Fortune.
This time it's different. The attack speed bonus from Q has been moved to W, and Kog'Maw maxes W, which directly results in Kog'Maw gaining a 35% attack speed bonus during the early laning phase!
This is an extremely outrageous enhancement. If Chen Dongqing remembers correctly, it was from this version that Big Mouth ascended to godhood.
Then, a few versions later, the designers felt that this Kog'Maw was too cool, so they moved the attack speed bonus back to Q, and also nerfed W, but that's another story.
"Koo is the core of our recent training," Banbazi said with a smile. "In this version, it would be a very unwise choice to let Kog'Maw go unchecked and focus on the top lane."
"So in today's training match, I plan to try a four-protect-one strategy."
At this point, Chen Dongqing scratched his head again.
It seems this version isn't very friendly to him.
But it's not a big problem, as their team has top-tier Kog'Maw players, so they're not afraid of going out of sync with the meta.
Immediately afterwards, the QG team members entered into a monotonous training routine day after day.
New mid laner Cherish's performance in training hasn't been particularly impressive. After all, he is indeed the mid laner for the second team, and there's still a gap between him and Doinb.
Fortunately, he has a good work ethic, is never late, and is willing to be a dog.
Basically, just pick Lulu, stand in the mid lane, push the lane, follow the jungler's movements, and in late-game team fights, just use your ultimate on Uzi or Kog'Maw and that's it. It's pretty standard.
Soon, on February 19th, the first match after the Spring Festival officially began, and today was the day to test the new mid-laner's skills.
Fortunately, the opponent in the inter-group competition was not strong; it was Uzi's former team, OMG.
The dark team OMG has completely fallen apart since S5. The eldest brother retired, and Cool and Uzi left the team. There may never be another good brother like them.
But when facing a team that had sidelined him for a year, Uzi was exceptionally ruthless!
In the first game, they immediately employed a lane-swap tactic.
With the double shield support of top lane Karma and mid lane Lulu, Uzi's Kog'Maw had a blast, unleashing a devastating burst of damage in the late game, ultimately securing victory in the team fight and winning the match with his explosive output.
In the second game, OMG was forced to ban Kog'Maw, but this gave Chen Dongqing another chance. His Riven once again soared through the skies, eventually dominating the entire game with a split push.
Two-nil, an easy victory, securing their sixth consecutive win of the season!
Seeing OMG suffer such a crushing defeat, many of their fans burst into laughter.
You're going to keep Uzbekistan under wraps!
The team's fans were cheering wildly. Although they didn't know why Doinb was replaced, seeing that the team still won so easily, everything was fine.
Meanwhile, in the lounge.
Doinb felt a little heavy-hearted watching this scene.
The easier the team wins at this point, the greater the blow to him.
Doinb reviewed the schedule in his mind and then quickly made a decision.
He took out his phone and logged into his Weibo account.
After much deliberation and editing, I finally posted a Weibo message.
【Um. I'm sorry, my recent performance hasn't been great, which has prevented me from playing. Perhaps there's been a communication problem within the team, but don't worry, I'll work hard to integrate into this new team, because my teammates are all excellent players. For me personally, 16 is a year I absolutely must go to the World Championship, and I will do my best towards that goal.】
That's all for today's ten-chapter update. I'm going to catch up on some sleep, guys. The rest is up to you. Hopefully, I'll wake up to some good stats!
Finally, I'd like to ask for some monthly votes. If the monthly vote target is reached, there will be an extra chapter tomorrow.
