Chapter 102 [The Warden]

Chapter 102 [The Warden]

In the night sky above Whitewing City, a figure sped across the moonlight.

To be precise, she was jumping.

It leaped again and again, each time covering hundreds of meters, the heavy booming sound echoing in the night sky like a constantly bouncing cannonball.

Each time she landed, the ground cracked and pebbles flew everywhere.

Mira von Whitehorst.

The lord of Tianma Territory, the most powerful woman in the northern part of the empire, bar none.

She was dressed in a black military-style uniform, with a fitted top and double-breasted buttons fastened from the waist to the stand-up collar.

The stand-up collar clung to her long neck, adorned with a silver emblem of a winged Pegasus. The epaulettes were also edged in silver, with the Pegasus crest, representing the Whitehorse family, embroidered in silver thread in the center.

Her top was tucked into a pair of tight black military trousers, making her legs appear long and straight. The trouser legs were rolled up into a pair of knee-high black military boots, the boot shafts hugging her calves and outlining the strong, well-proportioned curves of her legs.

A black leather belt was tied around her waist, just at the thinnest part of her waist, making her figure proportions look stunning.

Her bust was incredibly large. Although the fitted military blouse was tailored to fit her body, the area around her chest was still stretched taut, and each button was under immense pressure, trembling slightly in the moonlight.

She had wide hips, but didn't look fat at all. The military pants stretched out a full curve at her hips, then tapered along the lines of her thighs.

"The fifth one."

About two hundred meters ahead, a dark shadow was darting rapidly between rooftops. The creature resembled a giant bat, with a wingspan exceeding six meters, and its gray skin gleamed with a rough, stone-like sheen under the moonlight.

Gargoyle!

A fifth-tier undead creature with skin as hard as granite, immense strength, and claws capable of tearing through a knight's heavy armor.

This thing had disappeared from the northern border of the empire for many years, but now it has appeared in the auction house of Whitewing City, stealing the grand finale item of the annual auction.

Lady Mira had been chasing it for several minutes. The gargoyle was flying extremely fast, constantly changing direction under the cover of the city buildings, trying to shake off its terrifying pursuer.

But it can't be shaken off.

With each leap, Lady Mira landed precisely a short distance behind it, forcing it to run out of the city.

The gargoyle clearly realized this as well. It abruptly turned back in mid-air, its claws outstretched, and pounced directly at Lady Mira!

The gargoyle left a gray afterimage in the air, its claws tearing through the air with a sharp whistling sound as it aimed straight for Lady Mira's throat!

Mrs. Mira made no attempt to dodge. She landed on the roof of a building, crushed the tiles, and raised her right hand with her fingers spread wide.

Stop.

She said calmly.

The gargoyle stopped.

Its claws were less than a meter away from Mrs. Mira's throat, but it was as if it was being grabbed by an invisible hand, frozen in mid-air, unable to even move its eyes.

The Extraordinary Path [Warden] is one of the few extraordinary paths in the history of the mainland that has never produced a powerful individual.

Because it has only one ability: to forcibly change the self-defined class of someone below it.

For ordinary people, awakening this extraordinary path almost completely extinguishes their hope of advancement. After all, even a first-tier [Warden]...

Aside from occasionally being able to control mortals, he's otherwise a useless piece of trash who can't even kill a chicken.

But Mrs. Mira was different; she had plenty of money, and she could use it to elevate herself to the second tier, after which everything else would fall into place.

Unbeknownst to many, Mira von Whitehorse had become the most powerful [Warden] on this continent.

The gargoyle is rank 5, and Lady Mira is rank 6.

She took a step forward, stood in front of the gargoyle, and looked up at the undead creature frozen in mid-air.

The gargoyle's eyes were filled with fear.

Lady Mira reached out and grasped the gargoyle's right wing.

"Sizzle—!!!"

The gargoyle's wings were easily torn off, and gray liquid gushed from the wound. The gargoyle's eyeballs almost bulged out of their sockets, but it couldn't make a sound because Lady Mira forbade it to.

She casually tossed the torn wing aside, then grabbed the other wing.

"Sizzle—!!!"

The gargoyle's pupils began to twitch.

But it wasn't over yet. Lady Mira reached out and grabbed the gargoyle's right arm, twisting its wrist in the opposite direction.

"Click."

The gargoyle's right arm was turned 180 degrees outward from the elbow joint, and she pulled the severed arm off the gargoyle's shoulder as if she were dismantling a roast chicken.

Then the left arm.

"Click."

Another severed arm was carelessly tossed off the roof, hitting the street with a dull thud.

The gargoyle's eyes had dimmed; it had given up struggling and was probably waiting to die.

Mrs. Mira probed her fingers into the gargoyle's mouth, gripping the upper jaw with one hand and the lower jaw with the other, and then she pried it open.

"Click!"

She pried the gargoyle's mouth open, dislocating its jaw and causing its tongue to dangle from the split. Mrs. Mira continued to pry it open, the crack extending from the corner of its mouth all the way to its cheek.

She tore its entire face off.

Mrs. Mira peeled the gargoyle's face from its skull and tossed it aside. Then, she clenched her right fist and slammed it into the gargoyle's skull!

"boom!!!"

Her fist pierced through the gargoyle's skull from the back, smashing through its incredibly hard bone. When Lady Mira's fist emerged from the back of its head, she clutched a luminous gray substance in her hand.

The core of the gargoyle, the life center of undead creatures; destruction of the core means utter death.

With her other hand, she twisted the gargoyle's head off its neck, turned it three times to the left, and then lifted it up with a "snap." The spine hung down from the bottom of the skull, swaying in the air.

The gargoyle's headless body could finally move; it crashed from mid-air onto the roof and fell silent.

Lady Mira put the core into her pocket, then looked up in the direction of the city lord's mansion.

Tonight, it wasn't just one gargoyle that came to steal the grand finale item; it was an entire group.

She could continue the pursuit, catching and killing the rest one by one. But then she suddenly realized something.

A diversionary tactic!

"Oh."

The next moment, her knees bent slightly, and the entire roof beneath her feet collapsed. Tiles and beams shattered, and debris flew dozens of meters away.

Her figure had already sprung into the air, drawing an arc in the sky above the city.

The Lord's Mansion, Thirteen Wings.

Silverleaf squatted down next to Arthur, rummaged through his bag and took out some herbal ointment, scooped out a small dollop and applied it to Arthur's wound.

Arthur leaned against the corner of the hall with her eyes closed. As Sister Yu died, the images in her mind gradually faded, and her breathing became steady.

The first thing she did when she opened her eyes was to look for Chu Sheng.

Chu Sheng was standing in front of Amber Mei. Amber Mei's body had broken free from petrification, and the petrification had automatically dissipated after Snake Hair died.

Ella curiously licked the pebbles that had fallen off her, then suddenly looked up and sniffed: "Where's the old butler?"

After those two wicked women came in, Ella never smelled her scent again.
