The second forbidden card increases the power of the forbidden.

Chen Mo recalled what the little white-haired rat thief had said on the second floor.

According to the little thief, forbidden power also represents a kind of "authority," but it may take another episode to gather.

I don't know how many forbidden cards there are in total. I guess I'll only understand their secrets after I've collected almost all of them.

Put the black card away; it's not needed for now as there are no cursed cards.

The mushroom monster in front of them hopped away, and Chen Mo and Lao Zhang didn't stop it.

This guy is a bit mischievous, but he doesn't mean any harm.

Old Zhang nodded frantically.

"I understand, I understand. This thing is too sensitive. It's probably something that cardholders, monsters, or even bosses all want, and it's extremely important. I'm the best at keeping secrets, so you can rest assured."

After saying that, Old Zhang lowered his voice and said, "Just help me use the Forbidden Card, sir."

Originally, things like forbidden cards were almost as important as notebooks and should never be shown to others.

If he were a truly cold-blooded person, he could kill Old Zhang right now to keep the secret.

Unfortunately, he wasn't.

So for now, we can only trust Lao Zhang. If Lao Zhang can truly keep his mouth shut and proves trustworthy, then he might consider helping Lao Zhang upgrade his cards.

Putting these matters aside for the time being, Chen Mo and Lao Zhang, after a short rest, began to head towards the large wooden gate.

However, there was no rush to find the portal. Both Chen Mo and Lao Zhang were clearly more interested in killing the boss monster.

Especially when the boss monster returns to the village, it'll most likely go on a rampage. If the ground is littered with gold coins and cards, that would be incredibly exciting...

Of course, that's just wishful thinking.

They hurried on, having already cleared away the remaining corpses in the forest.

Chen Mo originally thought that after the black sun faded, the corpses in the forest would mutate or something, but now he saw that they didn't mutate, but burrowed back into the soil and never appeared again.

"Boss, how about we wait a bit longer? The boss seems busy right now, so let's not disturb it."

If he really had to fight the boss monster, it would most likely be another tough battle. No rush, he'd wait and let the boss monster bleed him a bit more.

"I've got it, boss, I suddenly have a rough idea."

Old Zhang suddenly slapped his forehead, feeling like he was about to have another brilliant idea.

Chen Mo raised his hand and said, "Don't say things you're not ready for."

"No way! It's not perfect yet, but I really think it can work. How about I lure that giant beast over? Let it fight the leader monster, wouldn't that be even more exciting? It doesn't matter who wins."

Old Zhang winked and grinned, thinking he had come up with a brilliant idea, only lacking the "light bulb" to shine in his head.

Chen Mo thought about it and realized that this idea wasn't necessarily bad, but it was definitely a recipe for disaster.

Slowly, Chen Mo said, "What if, after you lure the giant beasts here, they don't fight amongst themselves but instead unite to attack us? Just like they did with those corrupt cultists?"

"That makes sense, but then we'll just run for our lives. Being chased by one is the same as being chased by two. Here's the deal, boss, you hide. Let me try first. If it really doesn't work, just save me in a pinch. I think there's a chance!"

Old Zhang was still eager to try and wouldn't listen to any advice.

Chen Mo sighed and nodded helplessly.

Alright, let's give it a try. Chen Mo checked his health and stats. As long as he wasn't completely surrounded, escaping shouldn't be a problem.

There are statues of deities along the way back, so if all else fails, there's always a way out...

"I'm off then, boss, wait for me!"

Old Zhang hurried away. He knew where the giant beast was, after all, he had already lured it there once, although last time he had ridden on its back.

Chen Mo watched him leave, feeling that he still needed to secretly kill a few more monsters to stack up his damage so that he wouldn't fail at a crucial moment.

Just as he was thinking this, Old Zhang ran back under Chen Mo's watchful gaze.
