Chapter 89 The Curtain Falls
This was the most beautiful sunrise Harry had ever seen, without any controversy. As the golden dawn shone and rose from the sea, Harry felt as if his life was complete. He slowed down the speed of the steel horse beneath him, letting it trot along on the water.
"Red... I never imagined I would have a trip like this."
"You're right, you didn't think of that. This time we went a bit too far... Don't worry, nothing will happen when we get back."
Red knew what Harry was worried about. Harry wasn't worried about the Death Eaters anymore. After the Wild Hunt's tour, the surviving Death Eaters in Europe had to keep their tails between their legs. The Death Eaters' power had weakened to almost its lowest point. The fact that the Dark Lord didn't appear when they were being hunted was enough for the Death Eaters to make their own choices.
Harry's current worry is that they'll be going to Azkaban for jail when they get back, since the commotion they've caused this time was indeed a bit too big.
"Don't worry, just go back and enjoy life. Of course, if you don't want to go back to the Dursleys, you can find somewhere else to stay. Anyway, I'm sure our dear headmaster wouldn't dare let the two of us wander around like this, right?"
Red turned around, and Dumbledore nodded, looking somewhat tired. He was floating in the air, which almost startled Harry so much that he fell off his horse.
"What you've done this time... has certainly exceeded my expectations. I'm sorry, Harry, I should explain why I insisted on sending you back to the Dursleys for a while, but it seems like it's no longer necessary. How about we find a place to sit down and get something to eat?"
Dumbledore rubbed his lower back. The events of the past few days had been too sudden for an old man like him, especially now that the French and British Ministries of Magic were in a state of panic, worried that the Wild Hunt might spread and affect ordinary wizards and Muggles.
Dumbledore had to deal with this matter, and he couldn't delay. However, he felt he should accompany the two young men back to England first. He suddenly felt much more relaxed, at least Voldemort's pressure had lessened considerably.
"Headmaster, we need to find a place to put these two horses... The effects of Transfiguration and magic are too deep; these two horses can't turn back into trains."
Red's words made Dumbledore's vision go black. The effect of the Permanent Transfiguration spell was described so casually by Red. Moreover, what was permanent was a train turning into two iron horses. These two horses seemed to have their own intelligence, unlike ordinary animals. At least Dumbledore felt that the horse riding Harry seemed to be looking at him with displeasure and was eager to kick him.
"Alright, alright, but Hogwarts probably can't take them in, since they're really not exactly magical creatures."
Dumbledore sighed, and they basked in the light of the dawn, a scene that would be terrifying to outsiders but seemed beautiful at the moment.
The three of them returned to England together. Waiting for them by the coastline were Professor McGonagall, who looked helpless, and Professor Snape, who looked as if he had died.
Professor Snape had initially wanted to reprimand Harry, but seeing Harry silently release his grip on the iron horse and its hooves begin to throb with anticipation, he swallowed his words. He wasn't sure how effective his magic would be against something transformed from pure steel. Rather, he wondered what kind of genius could use Transfiguration like this. Was the Transfiguration he had learned even real Transfiguration?
Professor McGonagall's eyes revealed undisguised shock and admiration; she found it hard to believe that this was a first-year wizard's transfiguration.
After Harry and Red lifted their restraints, the two horses seemed to run wild along the coastline. The iron horses, transformed from trains, gradually became memorials for the departing heroes during the pilgrimage. So the remaining parts of the horses were just right for the two young men to ride. Otherwise, Dumbledore would have suggested that he try it out too.
"Alright, everyone go back now... This matter is considered over. The French side no longer has the energy to investigate who beat up the black wizard. They now need to start cleaning up the mess."
This sensational parade that had shaken the European wizarding world came to an end. Almost no one knew that the parade was started by two first-year wizards. The dark wizards who knew about it had all been buried and could no longer speak, and the rest did not have the courage to speak.
Even if they spoke, no one would believe that such a vast and terrifying power was actually guided by two children.
"So...the reason I stayed at the Dursleys' house for a while was because of this 'love spell,' right?"
Harry wearily raised his head. He might have thought differently if he had known this, but he didn't think he would give up the journey. In fact, Dumbledore clearly knew this too. After learning about the experiences of these two young wizards on their journey, Dumbledore really couldn't think of any reason why they would give up the journey. To be honest, he himself wanted to join in and become a part of the journey, traveling in a way that was closer to that of Muggles, without abusing magic. This was a way of doing things that he had never thought of before.
"In fact, you haven't needed to worry too much about the rise of the Death Eaters in recent years. This time, we've probably kept them quiet for a while."
Dumbledore nodded. The Death Eaters and the Dark Wizards hadn't been completely dealt with, but they certainly wouldn't dare to go out for a while. After all, the tour had just ended, and it would be quite ridiculous if they were killed as soon as they went out.
"So, what are your plans for the upcoming vacation?"
Dumbledore himself didn't realize that he seemed a little nervous when he asked the question. He even suspected that if Red had any other good ideas, he would be tempted to cast his vote.
"Without the principal, I need to get some rest... I've had too much going on lately."
Harry shook his head. He could finally rest. He had been through so much lately that he didn't have the energy to think about anything else.
And so, Harry shouldered his bag. He didn't go back to the Dursleys' house, but instead found a temporary place to stay under Dumbledore's arrangement. Thus, Harry's summer vacation officially came to an end.
