The Silent Bookstore Manager at Hogwarts

Chapter 8 Harry Potter's First Latin Practice

"Speaking of which, Minerva, how's your interaction with that child going?"

Dumbledore seemed to be asking a question he already knew the answer to. Professor McGonagall was puzzled, but she didn't ask and simply gave an answer.

"That child is very smart... He cherishes his companions, but for some reason, I always have a feeling of unease."

"The unease is justified... Minerva, for a child to remain unfazed after witnessing magic, and even have the mood to joke with you, is a bit too mature for an eleven-year-old. And then look at this."

The magic crystal ball flickered, returning exactly to the moment Professor McGonagall left.

"Isn't this normal? What did that child do afterwards?"

Professor McGonagall was very puzzled as to why Dumbledore wanted her to see this.

Then she saw that, in the scene displayed by the crystal ball, although the whole scene did not seem to have changed much, and the crystal ball could only detect the faint magical fluctuations, even so, the magical fluctuations that burst out in an instant, and the scene that Red himself could not see but was very obvious on the crystal ball, still made Professor McGonagall's heart jump into her throat.

"Obscurial!!! He's going to become..." Professor McGonagall was almost about to grab her broom and run back to the orphanage. This was beyond her imagination. She had barely left when an Obscurial was about to be born. Although she didn't know the reason, she only had one thought: to go back and do something to make amends.

"Wait... Minerva, didn't you realize that nothing actually happened?"

Dumbledore stopped Professor McGonagall, who was about to explode, and gestured for her to continue watching. In fact, if something had really happened, Dumbledore would have already teleported to the orphanage to stop Red.

Sure enough, the terrifying yet obscure and hidden magical power subsided as if it had vanished in a flash. Red seemed to understand something, and with a wave of his hand, the magical power silently surged and pushed open every door, and then even thoughtfully erased the traces he had left behind.

"Merlin's..." Professor McGonagall stared at the scene, her mouth agape, unable to close. She even wondered if there was something wrong with her eyes.

"Impressive, isn't it? Minerva... Otherwise, I wouldn't have gone to such lengths to invade your privacy. I just think you need to know just how amazing that kid you've been in contact with really is..."

Dumbledore sighed and put away the magic crystal ball.

"And he came from an orphanage... Minerva, can we do that?"

The old man suddenly asked a question with a hint of melancholy, and Professor McGonagall immediately understood Dumbledore's meaning. She nodded firmly.

"I believe that child was a good child. I still remember what he said to me... He cherished everyone around him very much, Dumbledore..."

"I know, I know... I can't let this tragedy repeat itself, Minerva. I need you to work harder to help that child and pay more attention to him."

Professor McGonagall nodded. The child's talent was so great that she could hardly comprehend it. He could guide magic to create large-scale unlocking spells just by intuition. If he were to become an Obscurial or a dark wizard, Professor McGonagall thought she might have nightmares just thinking about it.

-------------------------------------------------- -

Since the chilling shipwreck that swept him into Blancco in January, Reid's life seems to have changed a lot, yet it also seems to have changed very little.

First, there was the orphanage. Occasionally, a kind woman would appear in the orphanage. She was very generous. Everyone in the orphanage knew that this Ms. McGonagall seemed to have a high opinion of Reed Maxwell. Most of the people in the orphanage were even prepared for Reed to never come back after leaving them, except for Reed himself.

Red still went to school on time, but he hardly spent any energy on his regular studies anymore. He devoted more of his energy to deciphering the books in the Silent Bookstore that recorded the teachings of the Great Arts, striving to turn the knowledge in those books into his own power, and incidentally contributing to Harry's burgeoning language learning.

Of course, the most distressed one is a boy named Harry Potter. He has been really tormented by language lately, and has even fallen behind in his studies. However, his headaches in learning Latin have obviously yielded quite good results.

"Harry, we're not going to study grammar and vocabulary today... It's been three months already, let's jump right into the practical part."

On the first day of May, just as Harry Potter was about to say that he really couldn't study anymore, Red held up a green-covered book in front of him and said this to the dumbfounded Harry.

"The Great Art, I think this is the most suitable Great Art for you to begin with... Open the book and start reading. As long as you can understand it, I will begin to explain it to you."

Harry solemnly accepted the book that Red had placed on the table, as if he were receiving a treasure from a vault.

*The Book of the Stars, Volume 3*: Written in Latin. A work written in the fourth century, translated into Latin in the fourteenth century, and reprinted in the nineteenth century (author: Nathaniel Darcy-Evers, the Tireless). (Secret: 4 [Blade], Language: Latin) (Contains the teachings of the Great Arts: [Scars and Commandments])

Harry carefully turned to the first page and began translating.

Of course, Red had already read the book thoroughly, which was the main reason he chose it as Harry's introductory text.

【Scars and Commandments】is a great art that summarizes the powers and abilities possessed by the Colonel. In a sense, even without making a promise to the Colonel, learners can still use the knowledge and power of the Colonel's side. The primary reason that Red chose it was that Harry's special lightning bolt-shaped scar on his head was the best introductory offering.

【Scars and Discipline LV1】: Grasp the boundaries with determination. Scars are both wisdom and regret; one often arises from the other. (Characteristics: 2 blades, 1 lamp)

"Lionsmith...Colonel..."

Harry struggled to translate the Latin book in front of him. He could roughly understand that it described some great beings, but he would only be able to fully understand what they were really like after reading the entire book.

Red had no intention of helping him. Only if Harry took this step by himself could he realize the important things. After all, being an apprentice is never easy.
