Chapter 57 Learning in Dreams
It was an exceptionally large war, but Harry remained remarkably calm. He watched as the most imposing general in the center of the battlefield fought against a hundred men single-handedly, and began to learn his steps and movements.
"Footsteps and movements are not the most important things..."
Harry turned around abruptly, but saw nothing, only a hoarse voice that sounded as if the vocal cords had been completely destroyed, echoing in his ears.
"If you want to learn, you should learn how he analyzes the battlefield situation. Defeating one person is not important; how to win a war is the eternal and unchanging core."
Harry nodded, seemingly understanding, and began to try to put himself in the general's shoes to adapt to the idea of fighting against many. In fact, he had just tried to explore this himself, and although the result was not quite what he had hoped for, he had at least taken the first step.
"Prioritize a holistic view, taking into account every offensive intent, and have a basic expectation of the attacks you are about to suffer..."
Even in his dream, Harry continued studying tirelessly, repeatedly dissecting the details of the battle until he heard the bells.
"Harry... are you alright?"
Ron asked hesitantly, "Could it be that yesterday's battle really caused Harry some serious injury, so that even after a good night's sleep, Harry looks like he's been up all night?"
"I... am not very good."
Harry took a while to recover. He never expected that he had studied in his dream all night. When he woke up, his excitement had just passed, and he couldn't wait to fall asleep again.
"Harry, I'm sorry to hear this, but you should know... we have Potions class today, and Snape will definitely be paying close attention to you!"
Harry's eyes widened. Although he was still very sleepy, he knew that if he didn't handle things well today, Snape would start acting up again, and then it wouldn't be a matter of whether he could sleep well or not.
Of course, in the end Harry didn't confront Snape; he was taken to the infirmary by a worried Ron.
Madam Pomfrey looked at Harry in surprise. She found it hard to believe that a first-year wizard had come to the school infirmary for the second time in just a few days, and that this time the symptoms were even more bizarre than when he had broken his arm because of Quidditch.
"Did you fight several giants at once? You look exhausted, as if you've been fighting for a whole day and night."
Harry lay in bed listening to Madam Pomfrey's words, looking somewhat resigned to his fate. Sleeping all night had not relieved his physical fatigue; instead, he wished he could fall asleep the moment his head hit the pillow. He shouldn't have studied those things in his dream last night.
"It's alright, it's just some minor injuries and exhaustion. I'll be fine after a rest. Drink this."
Madam Pomfrey came over with a bottle of potion and poured it into Harry's mouth. Soon Harry felt the sore muscles all over his body relieved, followed by a surge of sleepiness.
"Get a good night's sleep. You need to rest now. Postpone classes for now."
Harry nodded groggily. He was finally free from Snape's torment, and at least now, with the school doctor's permission, he could get a good night's sleep.
---------------------------------------------
Harry didn't have any dreams this time, but when he woke up he saw something even more terrifying than his dream.
When he opened his eyes, he was shocked to see Professor Snape standing in front of his bed, deep in thought. The scene was so shocking that he instinctively closed his eyes again and pretended to be dead.
Fortunately, Snape didn't seem to realize that he had woken up, so he just grunted angrily and left quietly, leaving Harry completely baffled as to what Professor Snape was trying to do.
However, after Professor Snape left, he opened his eyes with relief.
"How are you feeling? You seem quite eager to learn, staying up late to study those things."
The moment Red's voice rang out, Harry finally relaxed and looked at Red, beginning to complain.
"How could you just sell me out like that? I didn't want to dream about those things, but I just kept dreaming about them."
Red just shook his head. Harry's talent in combat was unparalleled. Despite only having a rough experience with the content of "The Wounded Wounds," he was able to learn directly by connecting with the afterimages of that war through his dreams.
"I'll say it again, I didn't sell you out. I went to stop the professor who was originally coming after I was sure you could handle those Slytherins by yourself."
Red sighed. Professor McGonagall, who was supposed to pass through that corridor, was held up for twenty minutes by his Transfiguration question. Although it was obvious that Professor McGonagall had noticed something amiss, at least everyone had already evacuated by the time she got there. Apart from the somewhat inexplicable fog, nothing that shouldn't have appeared was there.
"So how are you feeling now?"
"I've gotten stronger again. I'm not talking about physical fitness, I mean... combat skills? Or something else. Now I understand what the [Commandments of the Hammer and Anvil] are for."
Harry said that the Commandments of the Hammer and Anvil gave him the ability to refine his combat experience, purifying it into skills and power that he could use. The hammers he forged in battle could even be put to immediate use.
"It's almost like a combat system that iterates data in real time, right? In a sense, you've found the right way to use it. After all, the essence of [Illumination] is purification, and what is being purified depends on the user's ability."
Harry nodded, though he didn't quite understand the specific meaning of some of the words, but Red clearly understood him.
"More importantly, the fire dragon will be hatching in a couple of days. Remember to come and see it, so that it doesn't see you as food or an enemy later. It's always good to get to know it."
Red reminded him that Harry had indeed been a bit too busy these past few days. Fortunately, the infirmary provided him with ample rest time. Although Snape was very unhappy with Harry's absence from Potions class, which led to a significant increase in the frequency of deductions, he didn't fly into a rage when he heard that Harry had been sent to the infirmary.
"I see......."
Harry nodded. He also wanted to witness the birth of a dragon, a scene that countless children only dreamed of.
