The Silent Bookstore Manager at Hogwarts
Chapter 26 [The Foundation of the Bright Sun]
Communication with the spirits wasn't very smooth. In fact, Harry had never formally tried to communicate with spirits before; at most, he would politely greet the spirits in Hogwarts.
But today was different. The disturbed spirits were unwilling to talk to Harry at all. They seemed to want to drive Harry away and rushed towards him with the cold mist.
"Stop!" Harry felt the scar on his forehead begin to burn again, and magic flowed out with his words, turning into a series of restraints that firmly bound the spirit in front of him to the spot.
"That's right, Harry. The most amazing thing about the Great Arts is that it can also draw upon the magic within you, just like a more special kind of spell. A spell can only correspond to one type of magic, but the Great Arts can allow you to use all sorts of powers in certain areas to deal with the situations you face."
Red looked at the spirits bound by chains formed by the magic enhanced by the [Commandment of the Scars], snapped his fingers, and the restless spirits instantly trembled and shrank back into the room. Even the pervasive cold mist dissipated considerably. Harry clenched his fist again, and those spirits that should have shrunk back were forcibly dragged out.
"I said! Stop it!"
Harry practically roared, his sharp gaze piercing through his glasses as if he wanted to burn the spirits apart, causing them to kneel in terror.
"We can talk about where you should stay, but this place, this room, is the only place you shouldn't stay here, understand?"
The blinding power of the "light" emanated from Harry, accompanied by a "blade" as sharp as a knife. As an apprentice, Harry's talent truly impressed Red. Even if it couldn't compare to Red's, the bookstore manager, this practical talent was enough for Harry to handle most situations.
"Phew, Red... I've got them sorted out. They've agreed to go back to the Void Realm obediently, but if they don't want to go..."
"Then let them lie on the ground. Don't bother the residents of Blankogg, and don't keep occupying our rooms. This isn't their home."
Red waved his hand, dispelling the remaining cold mist, and led Harry into the seemingly empty room. Apart from the dusty bed that hadn't been cleaned in a long time, the thing that attracted Harry's attention the most was the huge woven curtain on the wall.
"Harry, long ago in this kingdom, a church could not be built unless a white bull was sacrificed to the 'Sunset.' This is the 'Foundation of the Sun,' and the immortal Solomon brought this veil from where he came from."
Red explained the origin of the enormous drapery. He knew almost everything about the house, having thoroughly mastered this leisurely game before his reincarnation.
The enormous white bull on the drapery stared at Harry, making him feel as if his soul was being frozen. It was a mark left by an immortal, and the lingering trace felt like a cold wind blowing through his eyes into Harry's heart, causing him to instinctively lower his head.
"This room is not suitable for ordinary people to live in; it is far too cold. However, some visitors will like it. Harry, we still have one more place to work on. You can rest for half an hour now, and then we will continue to repair the house."
Looking at Harry, who seemed frozen stiff, Red sighed that having too high a perception wasn't necessarily a good thing. After all, the traces left by an immortal had put Harry in such a difficult situation, which was truly frustrating.
Harry sat in front of the fireplace in the warden's hut, the flames dispelling the chill in his heart. In fact, he shouldn't have felt this way, but the inexplicable chill had invaded his body, rendering him unable to move. He had to rely on Red to carry him back to the warden's hut to warm himself by the fire to relieve the cold.
"It doesn't seem like today is a good day for work. Forcing yourself to work in this state might actually lead to unnecessary mistakes..."
Red assessed Harry's condition and realized that he was clearly exhausted both physically and mentally and needed rest. Therefore, Red had no intention of exploiting the laborer. He could always go to the blacksmith Dunchel later, who would most likely not mind helping Red out.
"Okay, then I'll go back and rest for a bit..."
Harry nodded wearily. He realized that the amount of magic he had used today was indeed quite large for a first-year wizard. He was so tired that he wished he could go back to his dormitory in Gryffindor and get a good night's sleep.
After seeing Harry off back to Hogwarts, Red hummed a little tune as he found Dunchel. The strong blacksmith tidied up his blacksmith shop and followed Red into the Silent Bookstore.
"I'm leaving this grand spiral staircase in your care. This whole area is made up of the mechanisms from the previous administrator..."
[Grand Spiral Staircase: First Floor]: The windows were tightly shut, and the carpet was exceptionally clean, but something in the stairwell was watching me, its gaze giving me goosebumps. Before going upstairs, we must find a way to calm it down. (Repair required: 4 Hearts or 4 Winters or 4 Domes or 4 Casters)
[The Blacksmith's Assistance]: Today, the blacksmith Dunzier will lend me his power. (Characteristics: 2 Casting, 2 Blades)
[Forging]: I once saw a quote that said, "Fire is the harsh winter, yet it brings warmth. Fire is the warm spring, yet it consumes everything." [Forging is the principle of transformation and destruction.]
[Recollection: Foresight]: "The reshaping and bursting forth of talent, the condensation and cyclical nature of thought." — Coleridge, "On Donne's Poetry" (Characteristics: 2 Castings, 1 Lamp)
Memories transformed into power that flowed into the blacksmith's robust body. The blacksmith showed little surprise at this sudden surge of power.
"Red, I've heard of this wondrous magic before, but I never imagined I'd actually get to experience it firsthand... But time is precious, so I won't say any more. Let's get to work."
With that, Deng Qi'er stepped onto the first floor of the building's spiral staircase, attempting to drive away the watchers positioned there.
Reid nodded and stood behind Dunzier in case of any unforeseen circumstances.
