In the cramped space of the elevator, a beast that almost reached the ceiling stood in front, while the tall magical girl behind her suddenly appeared petite and delicate.

Such a harmonious scene would leave anyone speechless: the magical girl and the Void Beast standing almost face to face in the elevator car, waiting for the elevator to ascend.

Tang Ming felt uneasy standing in front of him, as if a thorn was in his back. The gaze behind him was like the aiming line of a sniper rifle, sweeping from his scalp to his toes.

He dared not move rashly, lest he frighten the other party, and Xingyu would suddenly strike him with a talisman, leaving him only to die here in frustration and confusion.

Ding!

The elevator screen shows that we have arrived at the 17th floor.

This was the floor Xingyu pressed when she came in. There was nothing in the lobby, so she decided to take the elevator to any floor and take a look.

Tang Ming cautiously turned to look at Xing Yu. Without saying a word, a slight yet solid magical force came from behind him and pushed him out of the elevator door.

Seeing that Tang Ming didn't react at all after leaving, she cautiously stepped out the door and looked around the corridor on the 17th floor.

It really was her own home... It had the same three elevators and six apartments as theirs, and the corridor layout was similar to what she remembered. If the Void Beast hadn't fallen down, Xingyu would have had no idea that she had fallen into this strange place.

Xingyu followed the same method, using a small amount of magic to push Tang Ming around. After the initial tension, Tang Ming realized that the other party was using him as a shield and a guinea pig.

Since they wouldn't attack him for the time being, he could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

The two walked one after the other, their heavy and light footsteps blending together, adding to the eeriness of the claustrophobic scene.

After walking around the area, Tang Ming returned to the elevator lobby. Due to his profession, he subconsciously glanced at the fire escape route map on the wall.

The room numbers on the map are 1801, 1802, 1803... six numbers, which clearly represent each household on the 18th floor.

But if he remembered correctly, Xingyu pressed the 17th floor, right?

Tang Ming couldn't be sure for a moment. With this question in mind, he observed the floor markings and the fire hydrant symbols, which all indicated the 18th floor.

In fact, the 18th floor is where their home is located.

Tang Ming subconsciously wanted to ask Xing Yu which floor she had pressed in the elevator, but he realized he didn't have a mouth at all.

Xingyu stood silently behind him, looking down the corridor. Tang Ming followed her gaze and saw the doors to rooms 1801 and 1802. His home was in room 1801.

The two exchanged a glance, and Xingyu spoke up, "Hey, do you sense anything unusual?"

She sighed to herself as soon as she finished speaking, "I've lost my mind. How could a virtual beast understand what I'm saying..."

Suddenly, Tang Ming turned around and walked into the stairwell. Xingyu was puzzled and followed him.

The two went down one floor of the stairs and arrived at the 17th floor that Tang Ming had imagined. He looked at the fire safety diagram.

It clearly says "[18]" above.

Tang Ming stared silently at the wall. Although he had already guessed that the strange space would not just contain an ordinary building.

Infinity is indeed the best way to trap them.

Xingyu gradually realized the problem. She followed Tang Ming down the stairs, each floor clearly marked with the number 18.

Xingyu stared silently at the numbers on the map. Every floor of the apartment building was exactly the same. If Tang Ming hadn't been looking at the fire safety diagrams all the time, she would have hardly realized that she was going through the same floor repeatedly.

Xingyu thought for a moment, then pushed Tang Ming into the elevator and returned to the first floor.

To their utter surprise, the elevator doors opened to reveal a different lobby than before. The number 18 was still there, along with the familiar corridor and the six familiar room doors.

Xingyu leaned closer to the windowsill. No matter how intently she looked outside, the scenery in the distance seemed incredibly real, as if they were standing on the 18th floor of a high-rise building.

Xingyu regretted not choosing some insight-type spells. If Xunfeng had her [Eye of True Sight], this simple illusion should have been easy to break.

With a bang, the window in front of them was shattered by magic, exposing the bare steel bars to the air.

Xingyu withdrew her hand, the flame at her fingertips dissipated, she shook her hand, walked to the ruins, and looked down. The wind howled from the 18th floor.

She smiled and, caught off guard, was bound by magic and thrown over the wall.

Tang Ming roared as he fell from the sky, though only he could hear his own humiliating scream.

Xingyu watched the virtual beast fall freely to the ground, but he didn't hear it hit the ground.

Boom!

Xingyu's eyes lit up, but she immediately realized something and turned her head. Tang Ming appeared in the air from the elevator hall and smashed a shallow crater in the ground.

The loud noise didn't come from downstairs. Xingyu's eyes immediately lost their luster. He gritted his teeth, and gusts of magical wind rose from behind him, cutting through everything around him.

Before Tang Ming's heart could catch its breath, Xing Yu's violent actions forced him to condense a crystal shield to evade Xing Yu's indiscriminate wind blades.

As the smoke and dust cleared, the entire floor was shattered. The furniture and utensils inside were broken into pieces, and the wall bricks were reduced to a mess. Only a few weak walls remained, supporting the entire building.

Xingyu kicked it cleanly, and the building, defying the laws of physics, floated in the air instead of crashing down.

Xingyu's face was ashen, but her heart was heavy.

This was undoubtedly an "illusion," but she couldn't break it even after using a lot of magic, which frustrated and unsettled her.

Xingyu suspected that this illusion was set up for her, and even the scene was extracted from her memories. The other party could invade her mind and accurately choose the 18th floor where her home was located. Such a terrifying enemy, yet she had no clue what to do with him.

Where is the enemy, and what do they want? Are they Void Beasts or other humans?

She even began to doubt the reality of Tang Ming's disheveled appearance in the distance. Could this beast also be a figment of her imagination, and in reality, was she attacking someone else?

!!!

When this possibility crossed his mind, Xingyu broke out in a cold sweat.

It wasn't that she was overthinking things; the mysteries of magic had never been mastered by humans. Since becoming a magical girl, she had read many books recording magical formulas from the elf Yui.

The mystery of it all deeply impressed her; the endless creativity and destructiveness were astonishing.

The magical realm beyond, granting us enchantment, opens the void through the invasion of rift bubbles; humanity's understanding of them is far too shallow.

She wasn't a daring child; she still vividly remembered the news of the magical girl battles and infighting a few years ago. If it was an illusion, then her physical body must still be in reality, right?

Xingyu walked to Tang Ming's side, and a light green glow floated from her hand, gently caressing the virtual beast.

Tang Ming was stunned. He had been on guard and ready to fight to the death, but when he felt the healing spell working on his wounds, he was completely bewildered.

Xingyu wasn't good at healing, but with even the slightest healing effect, combined with Tang Ming's Void Anomalous Matter's self-healing ability, he quickly recovered from his wounds.

For some reason, within this illusion, his void essence was extremely active, and the strange feeling of it breathing like a living being made Tang Ming groan out loud.

"Mmm—"

...He did indeed groan, and without fear of being heard, Tang Ming developed a perverted habit of making random noises.

In some ways, the actions of Tang Ming and Xing Yu, these two enemies, are quite similar.
